**NOLAN'S POV**

Dammit! What the hell was Briar even trying to say? Addie wasn't unguarded at the palace? Did he think that she was on lockdown and treated like a slave or something? She was an honored guest that was respected and well cared for. Of course there were times that she was unguarded and perfectly calm and happy. She wasn't some miserable damsel in distress.

"No, I think that you are wrong, Briar. Addie is happy living with us. And it was during a day in the Atelier that I learned her secret. Something that even you wouldn't know." This bickering seemed to be nonstop between us. This wasn't getting us anywhere.

"I know where she came from. Where she was before here. I know what she was before." Briar was giving me way more than I thought that he would. I guess he wasn't the best secret keeper when under pressure like that. Then again, neither was I with what I was about to say to him.
