31.06% My Fenrir System: Heir To The End / Chapter 32: Problems are coming

章節 32: Problems are coming

Sensing that Erik had left the building, Leon stretched out his arms, and an amused smile blossomed on his face.

"Now things are going to get interesting," he exclaimed, aware that not long before, the whole city was even noisier than it was now. He would not be a spectator as in the past.

One of those present did not understand why their leader had accepted the alliance with a D-ranked hunter.

"Leader, why did you accept the alliance with that hunter?" She asked respectfully. She wanted to understand the benefit their leader saw in this, as with a simple look, there seemed to be nothing to gain.

Leon looked up and met the face of his subordinate, Irine.

"My dear Irine, do you want to know why I agreed to an alliance with him?"

Irine attended, her cheeks slightly flushed at the way he called her.

However, contrary to what she expected, Leon flashed a mysterious little smile.

"By the way, Alan, I noticed you stepped back when Erik spoke to you."

Irine, seeing how he changed the subject, decided not to insist any further. She knew very well that Leon would not give her an answer no matter how many times she repeated the same question.

For his part, Alan bit his lips in frustration as he remembered how he felt afraid of a simple D-ranked hunter.

He's a B-ranked hunter! Why should he be afraid of a D-ranked hunter? And to make matters worse, he backed down from a D-ranked hunter in front of the people he respects most.

Leon looked at him, a little disappointed at how he had reacted moments before. Just because Erik spoke to him casually, although he knew he was not the wrong person, he had a big problem: he admired he too much as if he were a divine entity.

That kind of admiration is neither good for him nor anyone else, as he might encounter a guy much stronger than Erik and irrational, capable of killing him in the blink of an eye because of his attitude. Therefore, he decided not to intervene when Erik spoke coldly to him.

Well, Erik is a particular case only with his aura. He pushed back a B-ranked hunter...

With that guy, I never get bored...

Leon looked at Erik as a friend, something he didn't have. Since he became the "Strongest," everyone came to him with one or two intentions. But Erik, despite knowing who he was, didn't change the way he talked to him.

"Irine, come warm my lap," said Leon with a small smile. He was in a good mood now. He looked at Irine, whose face was completely flushed.

Irine, her face completely flushed, settled into Leon's lap. She closed her eyes and rested her head on his chest, listening to Leon's soft heartbeat.

...

"My lord... My lord... My lord..."

Alexander, contemplating the scenery through the window with a glass of whiskey in hand, turned his attention back to Mario, who hurriedly entered his office.

"What's going on? Why are you interrupting like this?" he said calmly, his eyes returning to the view outside.

Mario kept a brief silence and took a deep breath. He was not a hunter but an ordinary person. After inhaling deeply, he spoke, "Sir, we have found clues of the young master."

Alexander was completely frozen. He turned slowly, looking Mario straight in the eye. His voice trembled as he spoke, "Is there any clue about my son?"

"That's right, sir. The hacker we contacted gave us the address where the young master was headed. We've already sent a group to investigate the location."

"Where did my son go?"

Mario adjusted his glasses. He began to read the report sent to him.

"According to the hacker, the young master went to a dungeon with his girlfriend Cristina and three strangers—Erik, Violet, and David."

Alexander's expression slowly turned completely cold as the pressure of the place increased. He already had a rough idea of why his son was nowhere to be found. Moreover, what little hope he harbored that his son was alive vanished completely after hearing this.

"Tell me, are these three also alive, or have they disappeared like my son?" He asked in an icy voice that made Mario shiver.

A cold sweat began to pour down Mario's forehead and back. He swallowed saliva with difficulty, feeling his legs turn to jelly under the relentless pressure of a B-rank hunter. It was admirable for an average person like him that he wasn't on his knees with the pressure in the room.

Mario struggled with determination and willpower to articulate his words under the pressure he was experiencing. With a strained tone, he managed to communicate.

"Sir, no... there is no news of David, but there is news of Erik and Violet. The day the young master disappeared, they sold numerous mana stones."

Crack!

The massive window behind Alexander shattered completely as the pressure suddenly increased.

Under the crushing pressure, Mario was unable to stand, and his body collapsed to the floor, struggling to breathe.

Alexander's expression turned completely dark, while the aura giving off his body distorted everything around him.

"Mario... transmit my order to all members of the group. I want you to cause a great genocide throughout the city as an attribute to my son."

"Whether they are hunters or not, I want them to cause collapses in our guild's dungeons."

"And bring those two individuals to me so that I can kill them with my own hands and make them feel hell," Alexander declared in a grave and serene voice. Then, he got up and left the place with a grim expression.

Thus, he left Mario alone in the office, struggling for breath and drenched in sweat.

...

At the front of a mid-ranked dungeon, Erik and Violet were handing in their hunter cards to be checked to see if they were D-ranked hunters.

Violet, who was waiting for them to finish checking their cards, had something bothering her since they left the association.

"Erik, would you mind if I asked you a question?"

Deep in thought, Erik turned his attention to Violet and calmly replied, "Of course, go ahead."

After a brief moment of silence, Violet asked her question.

"Why did you turn down Leon's proposal to join their group? Wouldn't it be more convenient for us to join them?"

Erik took his moment before answering. "Well, I turned down your offer for the same reason I mentioned. Regarding us joining, it seemed somewhat restrictive to me, as if we were chaining ourselves together."

Moreover, the idea of being tied up made him feel uncomfortable as if his existence was threatened. He plans to return this favor to Leon in the future so that he can be free of everything. That's why he asked for an alliance with Leon to cope with the current situation.

"I understand... so, anyway, you don't like the idea of being subordinate to someone," Violet commented, assimilating the motive behind rejecting the proposal. Still, she didn't regret the decision, as she had secured a much more valuable alliance.

"Exactly."

"Here are your letters."

Erik and Violet took the cards and entered the dungeon, knowing nothing of the fact that when they came out, they would find the city in complete 'Chaos,' something that had never happened in the town since the dungeons first appeared.

...

Once they entered the dungeon, they faced a vast desert and an intense sun that seemed to burn them alive.

Without much delay, Violet created an ice umbrella to be more relaxed as the heat was intense.

Erik, for his part, opened the information window to see the contents of the daily mission.

[Daily mission: Clear the dungeon and hunt monsters!]

Objective: Clear a rank D dungeon and eliminate monsters.

Dungeon - Rank D, one time: incomplete (0/1)

Monsters - Rank D, ten times: incomplete (0/10)

Boss Monsters - Rank C, one time: incomplete (0/1)

❖ Warning 1: If you do not complete the daily quest, you will be in negative status for one week.

❖ Warning 2: If you do not complete the daily quests, you will be sent to a random dungeon area for 4 hours.

After closing the information window, Erik looks at Violet carrying an icy umbrella. He diverts his attention to his surroundings and then contemplates the vast desert that seems to stretch on endlessly.

"Well, as expected in a mid-ranking dungeon," he muttered, sensing the magnitude of what was before his eyes.

He realizes that one slip-up could cost him his life. Before that happens, his eyes glow subtly, and his vision turns black and white.

Realizing there are no monsters nearby, Erik looks back at Violet calmly as he says.

"Let's move on. There don't seem to be any monsters nearby."
