Since obtaining their marriage certificate, Ye Qilan had never shown his face at the villa.

Xiaole disregarded Su Hongxing more and more. In her eyes, Su Hongxing had already been relegated to oblivion without ever having been favored. Furthermore, Su Hongxing's unsightly appearance made her think, how could such a remarkable man as Ye Qilan fancy Su Hongxing?

She was convinced that she would soon see Su Hongxing kicked to the curb, therefore, there was no need to ingratiate herself with her.

One evening, Su Hongxing received a call from Xiao Ji.

"Xingxing, where are you?" His voice sounded somewhat tired.

Su Hongxing felt confused: "What's the matter?"

"Why did you move out?" Xiao Ji stood there in the empty room, dumbfounded.

He had only found out today that Su Hongxing had moved away.

He thought she had nowhere else to go and would never leave Xiao's Family.

Having finally mustered up the courage to come back home and face her, it was to find that she had left without a word.

This was the home she had lived in for over a decade. How could she just pack up and leave?

Su Hongxing remained silent.

Xiao Ji's question was laughable. She had been nothing more than a foster child in the Xiao Family. Now that he was married, Xiao Ji and Zhou Luhe could move in at any time. Her leaving was merely to avoid having to face him and Zhou Luhe.

"Xingxing, tell me where you are; I'll come to you." Xiao Ji pleaded.

"I need to get used to a life without you. It's not necessary for us to see each other anymore. Take this as my final request." Su Hongxing said before hanging up the phone.

Xiao Ji stared at his now dark phone screen, turned his gaze to the empty bedroom, and felt as if a black hole had formed in his heart.

He should have seen this outcome coming.

Su Hongxing always seemed easy-going and accommodating. However, when she became obstinate, nobody could sway her.

He was the one who pushed her away from their home. How could he face her again?

An hour later, Su Hongxing heard a text message alert. She checked to find an additional ten thousand in her bank account.

Afraid that she might misunderstand, Xiao Ji sent a follow-up message: "You just graduated and don't have a job yet. Everything costs money. This is a loan, you can pay me back once you start working."

Tears welled up in Su Hongxing's eyes.

She knew that, in actuality, Xiao Ji owed her nothing. The Xiao Family had taken care of her after her parents abandoned her and filled her love-lacking childhood with beautiful memories.

Ultimately, she didn't even have the right to resent Xiao Ji.

In the end, she sent a two-word response to Xiao Ji: Thank you.

This was the first time Ye Qilan visited Shallow Bay Villa since their marriage. He had not expected to witness the scene before him:

Su Hongxing was crying and laughing at the same time. Her crying was ugly; tears and snot mingled, casting a dirty look. While clearly crying, she was also trying to smile.

He had never seen such a combination of crying and laughing in any other woman before; he found it intriguing and paused to have a longer look.

Lost in her own thoughts, Su Hongxing turned her head inadvertently only to find Ye Qilan standing quietly behind her.

Startled, she almost fell over.

Without inflection, Ye Qilan said to Su Hongxing, "Does it bother you, being married to me?"

Su Hongxing shook her head: "No, it.. it doesn't."

She wished that Ye Qilan would never return home, so she wouldn't have to face him, let alone having any intimacy with him.

"People should be content. You don't seem like a greedy woman." Ye Qilan's gaze was fixed on Su Hongxing's face.

This woman looked a bit pudgy, which lent her a sense of amiability.

Ye Qilan couldn't help but ask: "Have we met before?"
