Watching the words of caution displayed on his system screen, Xander realized he was running out of time and had to act quickly. If the Soulscape collapsed, not even his Time Inversion ability would be able to save him and the only way to prevent it from happening was by saving the sleeping child.

However, as long as the Swamp Deidra was lurking in the waters, Xander had no way of getting close to that sinking lotus. Even with his special mutation, he had failed to kill the Soul Guardian when he had the chance, and now he was stranded in a tight spot with his wings coated in the Deidra's tarry black excrement.
