We leave in one Evil world. For evolution of life, mind and tech to go on, the world have to be evil, the lesser adaptation degree have to be punished cruelly (Darwin Prize).
You (USA) developed some positive culture. There are a lot of reasons to it. But mostly - psychology. It's easier to live an active and successful life this way.
But to be positive in our negative Evil world you have to lie to yourself - as a person and as a culture - all the time. It's the price.
