The soft whir of his laptop and the rhythmic tick of the clock were the only noises as Elion focused at his desk. The room was just like him: clean, tidy, and quietly commanding. His mahogany desk was perfectly organized, files stacked on one side and a glass of drink on the other. The tall windows stretched from floor to ceiling, framing the city spread out in golden daylight.
Elion's fingers flew over the keys, his focused gaze never leaving the monitor. Numbers and contracts filled his mind, leaving no room for distractions. That was until a soft knock at the door broke his concentration.
"Come in," Elion said without looking up.
The door creaked open, and Kade walked in, looking sharp in his gray suit that still managed to look a little wrinkled. Holding a clean white envelope, he shut the door and walked over to the desk.
"What is it?" Elion asked, his fingers pausing for a brief moment before resuming their rapid typing.
