He hadn't lived with a woman before, and the few things he knew about them were already confusing. He knocked gently. There was no response from within. "Mia?" he called out. Then he knocked again.
After a few more tapping on the door, he finally heard a shuffling sound from the other side of the room. Mia opened the door with her hair disheveled like a bird's nest. Her eyes were bloodshot, and there were lines on her face indicating that he had awakened her from sleep. He felt bad about that.
"You're back, Declan." She stifled a yawn and stretched. "Come in."
Declan held back a smile. She looked beautiful even half asleep. He walked in, waiting for her to lock the door behind him. "Have you been indoors all day?"
Mia smiled, a soft blush forming on her chin. "I didn't mean to fall asleep. I was tired."
"It's okay."
