If Mia had to define her home in one word, she would call it hell. A place she had come to love in the past two years now nauseated her. She rarely looked forward to her husband coming back home, and he rarely did. He either had a business meeting or something that came up at work. Mia knew it was just an excuse. She had a feeling that all those nights he spent away might have been with Beth. The only highlight of her day was when Declan messaged her or when Sheila came to visit. She wasn't that excited, but they made her day feel a bit better.

She always looked forward to those moments more than anything. Declan was funny and easy to talk to. She chatted with him daily, and she could easily consider them friends now. She moved around the apartment, dragging her feet. Whenever she touched something she had bought to celebrate an anniversary or birthday, tears welled up in her eyes.
