Something flashed in Beth's eyes, and Mia guessed she might not be as happy as she was trying to make her believe. She shook her head slowly, feeling a bit sorry for Beth. Beth might have betrayed her, but she had been her best friend for years. "Are you okay, Beth?"

Beth glared at her. "I am okay. I should be asking if you are!"

The duo engaged in a staring competition until Alexis returned to break the tension between them. She cleared her throat, staring at both of them. After a while, she shook hands with Beth. "I'm Alexis Callum, Mia's manager. It's nice to meet you."

Beth raised a brow. "Mia's manager," she said with a humming sound in the back of her throat, and Mia resisted the urge to tell her to go away. She didn't want her manager to get acquainted with Beth, but she also didn't want to cause a scene in public.

"I am Beth, Mia's best friend. It's nice to meet you."
