章節 132: Most fortunate

There was a knock on the door.

"Come in," said Sayid.

The doctor came in to check on Lady Carlene and change her bandages.

Now that it was morning he wanted to check that there were no splintered wood fragments left in her arm.

Lady Carlene really surprised the good doctor with her serenity.

Most women in her tax bracket would be begging for drugs to ease the pain.

Opium, laudanum, morphine, even brandy were the most asked for drugs but not Lady Carlene she wanted a clear head for thinking.

"Pain reminds me that both my child and I are happy to be alive," she responded after turning down his offer for painkillers. 

After performing all his checks, forty five minutes later the doctor was out the door and with him went the sweet tempered Lady Carlene.
