It all started with the birth of a child of light. After that, superpowers known as quirks started to manifest all over the world in quick secession. After a while, 80% of the world gained superpowers and a new profession, a profession of heroes, was made. The heroes took down the villains and restored the peace that was once vibrant. Or that is how the story is supposed to go.
When quirks started to emerge, the world was thrown into chaos. Religions of all kinds claimed it as a miracle of their respective god/gods and got more aggressive, some even starting to openly rebel. Governments started to experiment on people with quirks to figure out why only some had it and after that if they could weaponize the quirk users.
Civil wars were everywhere since quirk users got a power-high and deemed themselves better than the normal public, and the normal public judged the quirk users to be dangerous. But those were relatively calm wars compared to what happened with more severe cases like the Middle East.
The Middle East was already in a horrible state before the appearance of quirks, with civil wars and oppression happening often, not to mention the terror organizations. But when quirks emerged things got worse on a whole other level. And it didn't help that the "normal people vs quirk users" war also took place. Most countries managed to hang on until quirks became so widespread that they were now the new normal, solving the main conflicts most suffered from, but the Middle East collapsed in on itself a long time before that. During the chaotic period, countless lives were lost and the countries slowly started to fall. It only took a couple of years for the Middle East to turn into a lawless place ruled by warlords. And so the years passed.

"Mom!" A blond, skinny kid with blue eyes called out to his mother as he ran through the ruins of an old town in the desert while dressed in rags. "God damn it, David, I told you not to run far" Ruth, David's mother, said. Ruth had blond hair and blue eyes like her son. She had a lean build but you could see her well-trained muscles. Her muscles weren't flashy like a bodybuilder, they were condensed like a swimmer's.
"Hahaha, sorry... Sarah wanted to go explore a little" David said while scratching the back of his head. "I see... and what about my and your father's instructions? We explicitly told you not to explore that far". Ruth had a sinister smile slowly creeping up her face.
David saw that smile and started to sweat. "So that's your answer, huh? From now until next month I'll double your training!" Ruth announced. "Come on it's my birthday today, can't you spare me?" David pleaded. "Hmmm...No" Ruth chuckled. "Now come, me and your dad prepared a present for you".
As the pair walked home, David tried to get information about his gift from his mom. After a couple of minutes, they arrived at a ruined cement house that they currently lived in where they saw a man sitting.
"Hey, Dad," David said to grab the man's attention. "Do you have it ready, dear?" Ruth asked. The man jumped up in excitement and replied "Yes! I actually just brought it". The man, whose name was Ethan, had blond hair and blue eyes like the rest of the family, and a lean build full of compressed muscles like his wife. Ethan walked to the other side of the house, where he pulled out a wooden Bo Staff. Though the Bo Staff certainly didn't look new David's eyes shined with stars.
"I'm finally getting a weapon?" David asked with excitement. "Yes, but you will still mainly train in martial arts that don't involve weapons, seeing how you will get into those cases more often. Plus you're only four so you can hardly train with this weapon yet" Ruth said. "Come on..." David was disappointed.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" just as David started to get disappointed a family of three suddenly walked into the ruined house. The two parents were slim, with black hair and brown eyes. Though the husband's hair was a little long, reaching to his shoulder, it was nothing compared to his wife who's hair reached her lower back. The child stood out, though, since although she had black hair like her parents, she had green eyes.
"Sarah!" David lost all signs of disappointment as he ran to his friend. Sarah saw him running towards her and ran in his direction as well, she caught his hands excitedly. "Happy birthday David", Sarah said, "Want to go and play with me after? I worked on my building skills so I'll win this time". "Sure you will... I've seen babies with more building skill than you", David said cynically. "Play nice kids", Sarah's mother, Lian said. "Ethan have you heard of the situation?" Lia asked Ethan. "No" Ethan replied with curiosity in his voice. "Apparently, a small gang of quirk users is coming this way. I'm guessing that they'll try and make a base here, maybe try and get some valuables from us. *Sigh*, I wish they would go the normal way and not through No Man's Land... What good is it escaping here if everyone keeps bothering us".
No Man's Land was a long piece of land that served as a border between the Warlords' territory. It was a ruined place with no value, and there was barely any fertile land, making it a place free from the Warlord's rule. It was sparsely populated yet its inhabitants had to bow down every time a small gang with a little power as to not get hurt. After all, there was no force to protect them.
"..." David suddenly stopped talking with Sarah as he listened to the conversation his parents were having. "Finally! I'm itching to kill some bastards!" Ruth exclaimed. "Oh, that reminds me. Can you please make sure that the gang doesn't steal anything when they leave? We are already low enough on supplies, we really can't afford any more unnecessary losses. And it's not like all of us are martial artists". Alex, Sarah's father, asked Ethan with a somewhat defeated tone. "We noticed it too", Ethan replied, "But we don't really have a solution... As you said, me and Ruth are the only people capable of holding the gangs back, so we don't really have the leeway to secure things like that ourselves". "Why don't you just teach them?", David asked, "I mean it's not like the gangs that need to resort to going through No Man's Land have some amazing quirks, at best the leader can grow a blade from his arm or something. Most of them are only slightly better than us. Mom can just teach them how to fight a little".
Ruth looked at her son suspiciously, "We can have your father train them since you still have a couple of training programs to go through". David started to sweat bullets as he spoke with a little more urgency, "N-no, you need to be the one to train them. The gang will be here in a couple of weeks so with your training program they'll be ready to at least somewhat defend themselves". "David makes a good point", Ethan said while secretly winking at David. 'I love you Dad!' David thought as his father helped him avoid his mothers' extremely harsh training.
