Khan had been a messenger god under Morax for the past 500 years. At this point they had become known as 'Khan- the child once known as Xiao Li, who became blessed by the gods'. Khan had been there for Ei after Makoto's death - as Khan, he had been there for Ajax's birth - per the Tsarista's request and he had been there for Shenhe's added life and training with the adepti - just to name a few.
In the last few years he had felt a disturbance in the abyss - especially since meeting Ajax down there. The Tsarista told him about the new traveler - the twin of Lumine, who was named Aether. The Tsarista - Titania confirmed that she was taking all of the gnosis temporarily to see how the council will respond. Khan had laughed at the idea and asked Titania if she knew or even remembered Khan, the God of Khaenri'ah - and she responded with 'Yes, of course I do - why?' Khan had told her everything.
--------------------------------------
Khan had been tasked with getting a message to Aether - who was in Inazuma - from Venti, needless to say- he wasn't happy to be a messenger for the wind god. Shaking the uncomfortable feeling, he headed towards Inazuma - walking on the air just above the clouds. He wondered if the barrier was still up, however he never came into contact with it. Landing on the docks just outside Ritou, he was instantly met with spears pointed at his face. 'I suppose appearing without a boat is a reason to be scared' he thought to himself.
"State your name and reason for your visit!" one of the many guards called - the Tenryo Comission was the groups name right? "I am The Messenger God, Lord Barbatos has a message for your Excellency." Khan said, trying hard not to cringe at Venti's title. The guards loosened up before leading Khan directly to Raiden Shogun's Castle. The walk over was pleasant - however the white lie they told had forced them to see Ei earlier than what was planned.
The guards talked to the others at the Castle as Khan was escorted inside. "Her Excellency will meet with you shortly" one of them said before leaving Khan alone in the room in front of the throne. There was a long period of silence before a pair of shoes on the hardwood alerted them - A boy, about the height of the Crown Prince's Alchemist walked into the room, glaring at the throne, before walking over to Khan, taking off his frizbee of a hat. The boy sat next to Khan, putting both hands in his lap - before placing one on the table a moment later, it seemed like he was deciding what to do. "Kunikuzushi, It is lovely to see you again" The boy - now named Kunikuzushi - seemed to melt as Khan placed his hand over his own. "I-It's nice to see you again as well Lord Khaenri'ah." "Please, call me Khan or Xiao Li, I seem to be following your fellow Harbinger these days."
"Then I shall call you Xiao Li then, If you could call me Scaramouche while in public that would be nice" Khan smiled softly at Kunikuzushi, before turning his attention to Ei - who chose to walk in at that moment. "What a pleasant surprise, Its good to see you again Khan." "You as well Ei. I'd like to apologize for scaring your guards and lying to visit you - however you and I both know why."
She laughed "What message are you bringing?" "Venti wanted to send a letter to Aether - to remind him that the solstice is near. Which means more of my former people will be out and ready to attack anyone." Ei nodded sagely "I have come across an invitation from the Tsarista, It asks for my attendance - along with Kuni's. However she must have asked my Ajax to write the Khaenri'ahn on the back. It reads 'Bring the Prince, the Alchemist, the Twilight Sword and shared guard. Nights of blood shall not be spilt.' Meaning - Bring the Prince, Alchemist, Twilight Sword, Ajax. No blood shall be spilt while you are here" Ei sighed, understanding what Titania was getting at "Travel safely. Nahida will watch from afar and let us know if anything changes"
Khan nodded slowly, accepting their fate. The rest of the meeting with Ei went well, finishing the meeting with the same wishes of safe travel. "I suppose its time to reveal myself to the world again..."
-------------------------------------------
Khan appeared outside of Mondstadt, knowing their Sword, Prince and Alchemist were inside. Shifting to their human form, 'Xiao-Li' - A geo user from Fontaine who now lives in Liyue - she walked into the city, asking one of the guards about the city and explaining that they were an adventurer looking for a place to stay for the night, which was offered and shown. Thanking the guard moments later, Khan walked to the Angels Share, sensing her people immediately. The loud tavern glowed in its corner of the walled city, like the north star in the endless sky. Opening the door, the light from inside burst out - covering Khan in its warmth, for a moment they thought they were home- "Welcome to the Angels Share, What can I get started for you?" Khan looked up to see a tall man with red hair in a high ponytail staring at them. Khan looked to the drink menu for a moment, stepping in slowly "A Sparkling Berry Juice, please" The man nodded and began working on the drink, beckoning to Khan to come and sit at the bar. Sitting at the bar, looking down at the counter, feeling his Princes magic on it and the tell tale chalk of his alchemist - they were close, but where?
"Not from around here, huh?" Khan's head whipped up, looking the man in the eyes - gold staring into red - "N-no...A friend of mine sent me here to explore the world, Its been a long time since I left...that place..." He nodded slowly, acknowledging what Khan had said, placing the drink on the bar in front of them he spoke "Diluc Ragnvindr, Owner of the Angels Share. And you?" "Xiao-Li, Friend of Zhongli, consultant of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor." They sat in silence for a few minutes, Khan sipping the berry juice, thankful of the silence between the two - trying to find her Alchemist at least, knowing that Barbatos was masking her Princes power in the winds. The door opened, snapping Khan out of her thoughts as three very distinct magic signatures walked in. "One Death After noon, an Apple Cider and whatever hes having" "Your strongest!" "You better pay your tab this week Kaeya"
Khan turned on that stool so fast, recognizing the name and the voices "Tartaglia?" one of the men turned, looking at Khan and recognizing them immediately "Xiao-Li? Did Xiansheng send you here to look for me? Honestly, that old dragon can come here himself if he misses me so much!" Khan shook their head, giving Childe a knowing look. "Ajax... No, I'm looking for some old friends. I'd have gone to see Dain first but he kept running from me." Childe sighed, knowing exactly what they meant "The Twilight Sword doesn't like being caught by his keeper, much less me. If he doesn't cuss me out immediately then somethings off." Khan laughed, Childe picked up both his and Khan's drink, talking to them as he - along with the two others moved upstairs to a more private spot.
"So, Ajax huh?" "Only 4 people can call me that. My mum, Xiao-Li, Xiansheng and My Lady - The Tsarista." Khan smiled at his words "Titania wished for me to see how you fare. She would have preferred if you took the Gnosis and kept it, rather than handing it of to La Signora." all eyes were on Khan now "She what?" "Titania wanted you to keep Morax's Gnosis. I have it with me if you want it?" Childe locked eyes with Khan, hoping silently that he'd pass it to Childe. "Wait - You called The Tsarista by her name?" Khan looked to Kaeya- her Prince and nodded "I call all of them by their names - Is it a problem?" "They let you?" "You call Venti by his godly name from time to time- so whats the problem?" Khan passed Childe the Gnosis, which was only one half of it - and he took it and pressed it into his chest, feeling its warmth and the connection to Zhongli form.
"Who are you really, Xiao-Li?" Dain had entered and stood at the table, looking down at Khan. They froze, looking up at Dain, then across to Kaeya and finally looking at Albedo. Dainsleif moved to kneel and Khan waved at him "Dain. Not here. Venti has eyes across this territory." Dainsleif, recognized what Khan meant and nodded "Shall we move to the mountain, My Lord?" Khan nodded "You boys are welcome to follow. Just know that whatever happens next, you are to be sworn to me. Any previous contracts are void." Khan stood, their empty glass sat on the table. The group was silent. "Ajax, your contract with Morax is to be upheld by you and yours. That is one contract that I cannot break. I owe him after all."
The group left Angels Share practically running after Khan, who moved towards the mountain, knowing exactly where was safe. "How do you owe Xiangsheng?" Childe asked, walking backwards right next to Khan "It was him who saved me after Barbatos shot me down from the sky - He missed my Gnosis. Morax lied to Barbatos claiming he found my body dead and a broken Gnosis. I've been hiding as an Adeptus for the last 500 years." As soon as those words exited Khan's mouth Albedo's walk was halted. "As the Kreideprinz and Chief Alchemist of the Knight of Favonius, I must ask you to explain yourself in full once we arrive at my camp." Khan stopped and smiled at Albedo, pure gold eyes staring him down "If your sure you want to hear it all."
