As the world shifted around her, Valentina emerged on the edge of the clearing where Lucian had fallen. The moon bathed the area in a silvery glow, illuminating the scene with an eerie calm. Her heart sank as she scanned the ground, searching for any sign of him.

He was gone.

Panic surged within her. Did the hunters take his body? Or was he left to rot, unburied and alone somewhere else? Valentina's fists clenched at her sides, fury bubbling just beneath the surface. They couldn't disrespect him like this. She will pay them back for this.
