章節 199: Everyone wants a shy guy -195

The incident was enough to Keep Alexander very busy. Even though SITE-019 wasn't under his direct oversight, he was still the one who had to take charge of it due to most of the O5 council still being missing.

Everyone was busy, and he was no exception. Still, since he was the first to react to the situation, he was forced to handle the entire clean-up as well.

This was also what was giving Alexander the biggest headache; the containment had been rather clean, with few casualties and a minimal amount of damage. Yet his work was only getting started.

For one, he needed to ensure that everyone who needed it had their memories erased, no big problem. He didn't really have to do much but authorize it. Then he needed to have some level of a cover story fixed up, something that only took a single email, and someone else was on that case.

No, the real problem wasn't even the fact that SCP-049 was still missing, again that was something he could just delegate to someone else, what was causing him a headache was the fact that Shield and Hydra now knew about SCP-096.

He knew it was likely impossible to keep the Foundation or at least many of the SCP objects themselves secret from those unless he tore them down and buried them in the ground.

It was simply not easy to keep such things hidden from forces meant to secure and deal with special situations and threats like Shield.

That didn't mean it was any less problematic that they now knew about SCP-096. However, he could hardly blame anyone since it was he himself who informed them about the object.

He just hadn't had many other options; after all, the shy guy could cause an endless number of deaths and insane amounts of chaos if not properly contained, which was why he had such an over-the-top reaction to his escape.

The trouble in the future was still going to be quite immense since he now had to worry about not just people finding a picture of SCP-096 by accident but also people finding and sharing the picture on purpose.

Fury might not be too willing to do such a thing because of the risk-to-reward ratio of such a strategy. But the same likely couldn't be said for Hydra; after all, even if Pierce wouldn't use SCP-096 himself, Hydra had many leaders and countless subleaders who didn't have his resources.

So, they might think that the shy guy could be a powerful tool in their hands, and they might not be smart enough to fully understand the risks and consequences of sending someone a picture of 096's face.

This meant that Alexander now had to make plans and protocols for how to deal with this new situation, including how to deal with Shield if they go rogue and fully break away from the path desired by the Foundation.

---------------

Fury sat in his office, the events of the day weighing heavily on his mind. The containment of the anomalous entity that the Bulwark had referred to as "096" had been a necessary action, and he understood the gravity of the situation.

However, he couldn't help but consider the potential uses and dangers of such an entity. His thoughts oscillated between the strategic advantage of possessing such a powerful anomaly and the catastrophic consequences of it falling into the wrong hands.

He leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling, lost in thought. The idea of weaponizing this creature was both tantalizing and terrifying.

Its ability to locate and terminate anyone who had seen its face could be an incredibly effective tool against enemies. Yet, the uncontrollable nature of the creature made it a double-edged sword. Once unleashed, there would be no way to rein it back in without severe collateral damage.

Fury tapped his fingers on the desk, thinking about the Chaos Insurgency. They were a constant threat, and he had no doubt that they would try to use "096" if they got the chance. The idea of the Insurgency weaponizing the shy guy sent a shiver down his spine. It would be a disaster, not just for SHIELD but for the entire world. He needed a plan to ensure that "096" never fell into the wrong hands, and if it did, a way to neutralize the threat.

He considered the options. First, he needed to ensure that all records of "096" within SHIELD were secured and inaccessible to anyone without the highest clearance. He would need to work closely with his top tech agents to create a digital fortress around the data. It wouldn't be foolproof, but it would be a strong deterrent.

Next, Fury thought about the logistics of containment. The Bulwark had managed to capture "096," but the process had been risky and costly. He needed a team within SHIELD trained specifically to handle such anomalies, equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge.

They would need to understand the creature's behavior, its strengths, and its weaknesses. This team would act as a rapid response unit, ready to deploy at a moment's notice should "096" ever escape or be used by an adversary.

Fury also considered a more proactive approach. Instead of merely reacting to threats involving "096," he could take steps to prevent those threats from emerging in the first place. He would need to identify and monitor any groups or individuals who might seek to use "096" for their own ends. This would require an extensive intelligence network and the cooperation of the Bulwark.

The idea of a partnership with the Bulwark was complex. Fury respected their work and their commitment to containing anomalies, but he also knew that they operated in a way that often conflicted with SHIELD's methods.

He would need to navigate this relationship carefully, ensuring that both organizations could work together without stepping on each other's toes.

Lastly, Fury needed to consider the possibility of eradicating "096" altogether. It was a drastic measure, but if the creature posed an existential threat to humanity, it might be the only option. This would involve intense research and development to find a way to neutralize "096" permanently. He wasn't sure if this was even possible, but it was something that needed to be explored.

As Fury formulated these plans, he realized that the most immediate threat was not "096" itself, but the knowledge of its existence. He needed to control the information, ensuring that it did not spread beyond those who needed to know. This meant closely monitoring his own agents, vetting them thoroughly, and implementing strict protocols for handling sensitive data.

Fury stood up and walked to the window, looking out over the city. The weight of his responsibilities felt heavier than ever, but he knew that this was the burden he had chosen. He was determined to protect the world from threats, both known and unknown, and "096" was just another challenge he needed to overcome.

He turned back to his desk, ready to put his plans into action. The first step was to call a meeting with his top agents and brief them on the new protocols. From there, he would begin the arduous process of fortifying SHIELD's defenses against the potential misuse of "096" and ensuring that they were prepared for any eventuality.

----------------

Alexander Pierce sat in his private office, the recent events unfolding in his mind with a mix of intrigue and frustration. The recent breach at one of the Bulwark's facilities had exposed an entity with terrifying potential, one that could change the balance of power if harnessed correctly. The creature, described to him through various intercepted communications, was a weapon unlike any other. Pierce saw both immense opportunity and significant risk.

Hydra had always thrived on leveraging powerful assets to further their goals. The potential to control an entity that could seek out and eliminate anyone who had seen its face was almost too good to be true. It could be the ultimate tool for eliminating high-value targets, creating chaos, and instilling fear.

However, the uncontrollable nature of the creature posed a significant challenge. Even for Hydra, whose operations often skirted the edge of chaos, this entity represented a volatile variable.

Pierce leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers as he considered the complexities. First and foremost, he needed to understand the full capabilities and limitations of this creature. The data from the Bulwark's containment procedures would be invaluable, and he made a mental note to have his agents within SHIELD dig deeper into any intelligence they could find. Knowledge was power, and knowing everything about this entity would be the first step toward controlling it.

He also needed to consider the potential repercussions of attempting to use the creature. Hydra was known for its ruthlessness, but even they had to tread carefully with something this dangerous.

The creature could just as easily turn on them if they were not careful. Pierce would need to devise a method to control the spread of any images of the creature, ensuring that only their intended targets were exposed.

Hydra's infiltrators within SHIELD would be crucial for this. Pierce had long maintained deep cover agents within the organization, and now was the time to activate those assets fully. They would need to ensure that any intelligence on this creature was funneled directly to him while simultaneously sabotaging any efforts by SHIELD to secure or neutralize the creature completely.

The chaos that this entity could unleash was a double-edged sword. On one hand, it could be used to create distractions, eliminate rivals, and destabilize governments. On the other, its unpredictable nature meant that it could cause unintended collateral damage.

Pierce needed to weigh these factors carefully. He would start by identifying potential high-value targets—individuals whose elimination would benefit Hydra's long-term plans.

To do this, he needed to create a secure team within Hydra dedicated to understanding and potentially harnessing this creature. This team would be comprised of Hydra's top scientists and strategists, individuals who could think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions to the problem of control.

They would need to develop protocols for capturing images of the creature in a controlled manner, ensuring that it could be directed at specific targets without risk of exposure to Hydra operatives.

Pierce's thoughts also turned to the Bulwark. They were the current custodians of the creature, and while their methods were effective, they were also predictable.

The Bulwark operated under the guise of neutrality and protection, but Pierce knew that everyone had a price. He would explore avenues to either co-opt Bulwark agents or, failing that, find weaknesses in their operations that Hydra could exploit.

The Chaos Insurgency was another factor to consider. While Hydra had little respect for the Insurgency's methods, they recognized the group as a significant player in the world of anomalous entities.

Pierce needed to ensure that the Insurgency did not get their hands on this creature or any intelligence related to it. This would involve both offensive and defensive strategies—undermining the Insurgency's operations while fortifying Hydra's own.

Finally, Pierce considered the long-term implications. If Hydra could harness this creature and use it effectively, it would represent a quantum leap in their operational capabilities. However, he also needed a failsafe.

If things went wrong, there had to be a way to neutralize the creature permanently. This would likely require cooperation with Hydra's scientific division, exploring all possible avenues for a permanent solution.

With these thoughts in mind, Pierce stood up and moved to his desk, where he began drafting orders for his top operatives. The first directive was simple: gather all available intelligence on the creature from SHIELD's files.

The second was more complex: begin covert operations to identify and, if possible, capture individuals who had seen the creature's face and could be used as leverage or test subjects.

As he penned his orders, Pierce felt a surge of anticipation. The path ahead was fraught with danger, but also with unparalleled opportunity. Hydra thrived in the shadows, and the acquisition of this creature could very well be their next great leap forward.
