After escorting Juggernaut to the laboratory for examination by Viper, Max sought out Katie.
Having mentioned to Katie earlier that he would be visiting Sonia to verify the success of the Soul Gate, Max returned with updates.
"How did it go? Did you succeed?" Katie inquired.
"Success!" Max nodded, a sense of accomplishment evident in his tone.
"Congratulations then," Katie responded with a warm smile.
Max then went on to share the events of his recent mission. The Sentry Secret Service had attacked a Mutant base, and Max, along with Lorna, had intervened to rescue those in peril. He casually mentioned encountering some familiar faces—Angel, Iceman, and Juggernaut.
"Juggernaut is among your acquaintances?" Katie looked puzzled.
"Well, we can say we've met. I brought him back for further study," Max explained.
The mention of Angel and Iceman triggered memories for Katie. She had a history with them from their time together at the X-Men school. Concerned, she asked about Iceman's well-being.
Max replied, "I can tell you the address," providing Katie with the location of the Mutant underground base.
"I'll go take a look," Katie decided.
After their conversation, Max refreshed himself with a shower and changed into new clothes. Remarkably, the bruise on his arm had completely healed, surprising even him with the swiftness of his self-healing abilities.
Returning to the laboratory, Max inquired about Juggernaut's status from Viper.
"The tracker on the uniform has been removed, and I also extracted his genes. If you want to act, now is the time. I've induced a deep coma with toxins, so there's no worry about him waking up," Viper informed Max.
"Good!" Max approached Juggernaut, pondering for a moment before initiating his experiment.
With a deep breath, Max began testing his newly developed attack method. The Soul Gate manifested and vanished intermittently around Juggernaut's body.
Meanwhile, Max and Viper worked in tandem, each focused on their respective tasks. The laboratory maintained a serene atmosphere, undisturbed by the ongoing experimentation.
As the night unfolded, the moon waned, giving way to the sunrise, marking the passage of time in the quiet laboratory.
The two of them appeared to have lost track of time.
As the new day began, Yukio prepared food and called them to eat. Upon entering, she overheard Max's hearty laughter. "Success! This is much easier than developing the soul door."
"That's because you have an in-depth understanding of body structure, combined with your enhanced control of Ability. That's why you succeeded so quickly. But, your Ability is truly abnormal!" The Viper exclaimed.
"Successful Ability? What's that?" Curiosity sparked in Yukio.
Smiling, Max approached Yukio, raising his hand to touch her chest. This action momentarily stunned Yukio.
"Open!"
Max uttered a soft command, and a small square door instantly appeared on Yukio's chest.
Max swung the door open with his hand, revealing a pulsating heart inside.
"This... what's happening?" Yukio was momentarily shocked. Her heart was exposed in this way. "Isn't your door supposed to open into a different space? Why is it like this?"
"In reality, this isn't a door!" Max explained, closing the door to make it vanish. The next moment, he created an arch without a door frame.
It gave the impression of a significant cavity in the chest, revealing the beating heart within.
"I opened two doors, similar to the entrances of a corridor. One leads to a different space, and the other opens into the interior of your body. The different space serves as the corridor. I infinitely reduce the scope of the corridor, creating two doors. This effect is achieved through seamless connection. In truth, the different space still exists, but you can neither see nor feel it."
"This Ability is truly abnormal!" Yukio sighed.
Max smiled, snapping his fingers to make the door on Yukio disappear. He explained, "This isn't perverse. I can only do this in the vicinity of the same object. When I can disregard these constraints, that's when it becomes truly perverse."
"If I open a door in front or behind me while facing an attack and simultaneously open a door in front or behind the attacker, redirecting the attack to them, that's true perversion!" Max paused, looking at the poisonous snake. "This is also why I want to retrieve Juggernaut. His strength is beneficial to me, especially his defensive ability! Even a diluted version like Self-healing Ability, when combined with enhanced defense, is enough to ensure I won't be killed by a sudden strike."
"As long as I survive the first second, the opponent will meet their demise!"
