章節 50: The Wraiths

The wraiths swarmed around Inarius like a relentless tide, their spectral forms shrieking in hunger and fury. His purple flaming sword cut through them in arcs of searing light, each strike dissipating their shadowy bodies into nothingness. Yet for every wraith he destroyed, ten more seemed to take its place.

Inarius clenched his jaw as a spear of spectral energy grazed his shoulder, the pain searing through his nerves. He staggered for a moment, then spun, his blade slashing through the offending wraith.

"I could do this all day," he growled, though his body begged to differ.

Summoning his sin abilities, Inarius closed his eyes briefly, reaching out to the darkness around him. His power pulsed, spreading like an unseen web. The wraiths hesitated as if sensing the shift in the air.

Inarius smirked, raising his free hand.

"Time to feed."

A swirling vortex of energy formed around him, tendrils of purple and black spiraling outward like hungry serpents. The sin energy lashed out at the wraiths, pulling them into its grasp. Their forms twisted and writhed as they were drawn into him, their screams echoing in his ears.

As the energy flowed into him, Inarius felt his wounds knitting themselves together, his strength returning tenfold. His vision sharpened, his senses heightening as his power surged.

But the onslaught didn't stop. The wraiths kept coming.

"Enough of this," he muttered, gripping his sword tightly. He focused every ounce of sin energy into the blade, the flames intensifying to an almost blinding brilliance.

Slamming the sword into the ground, he unleashed his power in a devastating burst.

The ground beneath him cracked, glowing purple as sin flames erupted outward in a massive circular wave. The flames surged through the battlefield, engulfing the wraiths in an unstoppable tide. Their forms disintegrated almost instantly, their howls cut short as their essence was absorbed into Inarius.

When the flames subsided, the battlefield was silent. Smoke and ash swirled in the air, and Inarius stood at the epicenter, his sword still buried in the earth.

He felt the power coursing through him—a tidal wave of strength unlike anything he'd ever experienced. His breathing was heavy, but he couldn't deny the exhilaration of his newfound might.

Then the rumble began.

Inarius's eyes snapped toward the tower. From its peak, three beams of pale green light shot downward, screaming as they descended. The ground trembled as the lights slammed into the earth before him, creating craters that glowed with an ominous energy.

From the craters rose three figures, each radiating a power so immense it made the air feel suffocating.

The first figure stepped forward, clad in ornate armor that shimmered with a metallic sheen. Sharp angles and intricate designs adorned the armor, and a menacing helmet obscured its face. Its glowing green sword hummed with deadly energy, and a tattered cloak billowed behind it as if alive.

The second figure was cloaked in darkness, an ethereal presence that seemed more shadow than substance. Its face was partially hidden beneath a haunting, intricately designed helmet that pulsed with a ghostly light. In its hands, it wielded a glowing green spear, the weapon exuding an aura of authority and precision.

The third figure was the largest, its armor gleaming like polished jade in the eerie light. Horns jutted from its intricately designed helmet, giving it a fearsome visage. A massive green warhammer rested in its hands, the weapon glowing faintly as if alive with spectral energy.

Inarius tightened his grip on his sword, his heart pounding. These wraiths were different. Stronger. Deadlier. Their very presence pressed against him like a physical weight.

The first one, the swordsman, pointed its glowing blade at Inarius in a silent challenge. Without hesitation, it charged, moving with blinding speed.

Inarius barely had time to raise his sword before their weapons clashed, the impact sending a shockwave through the ground. Sparks flew as their blades ground against each other, and Inarius felt his arms strain against the sheer force of his opponent.

The spearman and hammer-wielder hung back, watching with an unsettling stillness.

"You want me to take you all at once?" Inarius shouted, pushing the swordsman back. "Fine by me!"

The swordsman lunged again, its strikes coming fast and relentless. Inarius countered with everything he had, their blades dancing in a deadly rhythm. Each parry and strike sent ripples of energy through the air.

As he locked blades with the swordsman, the spearman moved. It lunged with impossible speed, its spear aiming straight for Inarius's side. He twisted at the last second, the spear grazing him and drawing a line of searing pain.

Before he could recover, the hammer-wielder advanced, its massive weapon crashing down with a force that shattered the ground. Inarius rolled away, narrowly avoiding the blow, but the shockwave sent him sprawling.

The three wraiths pressed their advantage, attacking in perfect unison. The swordsman's strikes kept him on the defensive, the spearman's thrusts forced him to keep moving, and the hammer-wielder's crushing blows threatened to end him with a single misstep.

Inarius gritted his teeth, blood dripping from a wound on his forehead.

"Alright," he muttered, wiping the blood from his eyes. "Let's turn this up."

Summoning his sin energy, he unleashed a wave of power, forcing the wraiths to retreat momentarily. He rose to his feet, his sword blazing with renewed intensity.

"You want a fight? Let's see if you can handle me at full power."

The wraiths didn't respond, but their glowing weapons flared brighter, as if accepting the challenge.

The real battle was just beginning.
