Clive, along with the other students, entered the large academy hall, which was big enough to hold a lot of people. The hall had rows of metal chairs set up neatly. There were ten halls like this in HYDRA, each one for a different department. As Clive got to his seat, he noticed no one had sat down yet. Everyone was standing behind their chairs, waiting quietly.
The hall quickly filled up, and by 5:58 a.m., every seat was taken, but no one sat down. The room was silent, and the tension was heavy. No one spoke, not even a whisper. Clive could feel the seriousness in the air, and even though he felt confident with his new abilities, he knew he had to be careful.
At exactly 6 a.m., the silence was broken by the sound of footsteps. A man walked in and made his way to the podium at the front of the room. He was tall and strong, with sharp features and a serious look. His black hair was slicked back, and his blue eyes looked over the students with a cold, focused expression. He wore a black uniform with a few medals, showing his rank in HYDRA. Everything about him showed authority.
Once he reached the podium, all the students raised their right fist to their chest and shouted, "Hail HYDRA!" The sound filled the hall.
The man nodded, raised his fist in return, and said, "Hail HYDRA" into the microphone. His deep voice carried across the room, and everyone felt his authority.
He then gave a small nod and said, "You may sit."
Everyone sat down at the same time, the room still filled with tension as the man's cold eyes looked over them again.
The man straightened up at the podium, looking over the students with a serious expression. "I am Captain Adrian Kessler, assigned to the Battle Department of this academy," he said firmly. "I will be in charge of all of you until the end of the entrance tests for this department."
Clive felt the weight of the moment as Captain Kessler continued. "The entrance test will last for one year, divided into three stages. Each stage will last four months. During this time, half of you—fifty out of the one hundred students here today—will be eliminated based on talent, hard work, will, and other factors."
Silence filled the hall as the meaning of his words sank in.
Kessler's face remained cold and serious. "Those fifty students who fail the entrance tests will lose their chance to join the Battle Department or any other major department. Instead, they will be sent to the Menial Tasks Department, which is not mentioned in the books you received."
He continued, "Let me be clear. If you are placed in the Menial Tasks Department, you can never be promoted above the rank of Elite Agent. You will become low-level servants for those who pass the entrance tests."
The weight of Kessler's words hung heavily in the air. The students sat with shocked faces, processing the reality of their situation.
"But fear not," Kessler continued, his voice still serious. "You won't be treated like expendables as those in the Vanguard Academy. However, if your future descendants remain in the Menial Tasks Department and fail to join any major department for three straight generations, you will lose your status as HYDRA descendants and the privileges that come along with it."
The room fell silent again, thick with anxiety. Everyone was staring straight ahead, too scared to speak, knowing it could lead to punishment.
Captain Kessler scanned the room, making sure the students understood. "You have one year," he declared, his voice firm. "One year to prove yourselves and show that you are worthy of the Battle Department. Use this time wisely."
As Clive listened to Captain Kessler's instructions, his mind was racing with thoughts. The Captain's words about losing the HYDRA descendant title didn't matter much to him; he had no plans to stay here for long. What really troubled him was how he could escape this place. His abilities felt weak right now, and he was trapped on this island without knowing where he was.
Clive understood that he would only be able to escape if he trained his abilities and became stronger. He needed time, and he hoped that the academy would send him outside for a mission or some training exercise.
He shook his head slightly to focus on Captain Kessler's words again. He couldn't let himself get distracted. He had to act like a loyal student while secretly planning his way out.
Captain Kessler paused for a moment, letting the weight of his words sink in. The students sat in tense silence, absorbing the harsh reality of their situation.
Then, with a steady voice, he continued, "Today marks the beginning of your journey. We will start with the first stage of the entrance test."
"The first stage will focus on training your bodies. For the next three and a half months, you will go through intense training. This will include strength training and endurance exercises. You will be expected to run several miles every morning and lift heavy weights to build muscle. Every day, you will push your limits."
Clive knew that although it sounded simple, he knew that it wouldn't be so easy as Kessler described the training. It sounded tough, and he could see his fellow students looking scared and excited at the same time.
"At the end of the fourth month, you will take a test to see how much you've improved. Your performance will be ranked, and only the top ninety percent of you will move on to the next stage. Those in the bottom ten percent will fail and will not be allowed to continue," Kessler said firmly, letting the seriousness of his words sink in.
He continued, "During this first stage, all students, both male and female, will train together. You will learn from each other and help each other improve. However, the tests at the end of this stage will be separate for male and female students. From the second stage onward, there will be no separation in testing based on gender. All students will take the tests together."
Kessler's gaze swept across the room, his blue eyes serious. "This is not just a test of your physical strength. It's a test of your willpower and determination. Your future in HYDRA depends on your ability to adapt and grow stronger."
The atmosphere in the hall grew heavy as Clive absorbed the Captain's words.
"Get ready," Kessler said, his voice firm. "The first training session will begin shortly. I expect full effort from each of you. Remember, only the strong will survive in HYDRA."
With that, the tension in the room increased. Clive felt a rush of adrenaline. He knew he had to make the most of this opportunity—not just to survive but to find a way out of this place. The training would be tough, but he was determined to push through, grow stronger, and find his chance to escape from HYDRA.
