Alex placed me on the seat made for me, "You're fine now right." He whispered still holding me, I felt chills run down my back from the embarrassment I was facing right now, my toes curled, hairs raised and my heart raised so fast. I shivered, the entire place was quiet even if a solo song was playing, all eyes were on us. "Alex everyone's watching." I bit my inner cheeks, how I'm I meant to address everyone? "Let me go, I promise I'm fine now." He smiled before letting me go.
If there was a way to run away from this man, I would and never return. I felt like the ground should open its mouth to swallow, this was too much, and the stairs haven't reduced a bit. "Baby, I know we came earlier, but this is another gift for you, congratulations bestie," Carie said to me with a little box in her hands. "Thank you." We hugged each other.
"Both of you make me feel so jealous and left out." A very familiar voice spoke for me to meet her gaze, "Sage!" I and Carie both screamed her name, this was surprising. I can't recall the last time I saw her, maybe after my wedding, my baby went missing after that. She also had a baby bump on her belly, wait is she married too?
"You're pregnant? She smiled blushing a bit, "It's Philips's fault." *Gasp*
"You're now Mrs. Horne?" This information was stunning, they knew she would get married to a man she met at a wedding ceremony. I was so happy for my baby, this time we wouldn't be so far from each other. It was surprising the Hornes were invited to the Wilson's party, what is Alex cooking?
"Congratulations Hazel." "Please you guys I feel so bored at home, especially when Alex is not at home, come around sometimes." Both sage and Carie nodded in agreement, and I smiled, I was happy. At least until my babies are born, I'd never be lonely at home. "This is my gift for you, Hazel, I hope our children can continue our friendship." She headed the gifts over to me and I passed them over to the maids standing beside me. "Of course baby." We all smiled.
Sage walked up to Philip who looked like he was waiting for his turn to deliver the gift in his hands. I waved at him with a smile for him to return it, only to see two dark eyes on me. I quickly averted my gaze. Alex is a crazy man.
.
Oliver handed a glass of liquid to his son, who stood next to him, it's been a long since they had a conversation together which Oliver understands. He knows how busy Alex can be, especially taking care of his wife, this is the moment she needs him the most. Waking up with cries, calling to him, insulting and abusing him, giving him a really tough time. Maria did that a lot while being pregnant for Carie, his endurance to her bullshit was at its last peak and then she gave birth.
Without bloodshed in the Huxley family, as he imagined, Alex was able to get his wife back. "Congratulations once again son," David said taking a sip of his liquid. "Thank you, father." He took a sip of his, "You were late for the party, you need to see how crazy your mother was becoming."
"My wife was not feeling okay, so I had to deal with that first." Oliver smiled. "I can tell our kids took after me." Pretending like he didn't hear his father the first time, "Our kids...?" "Mr. Wilson, Mr. Oliver." A blonde-haired man walked up to them, "Kendrick." Alex called wondering who invited his distant uncle to this place.
He never liked this man since he was a kid, maybe because Kendrick was always fond of abusing his father in every situation. "Oh, our Alex has turned into a man, having kids of his own. This is the only good thing you've done since your existence to our family." Kendrick smiled.
"Aside from taking your place?" Alex smiled mockingly, "Still my grandfather's farm will never be yours, I told you I'll pass it on and keep you alive to see it." Alex's words were challenging but simple to other ears, but to Kendrick, we're like a million knives piercing into his chest all at once.
Kendrick could recall begging for that farm to be the only thing he inherits from his late uncle, but Oliver stood in the way, saying he had a son to take over everything. Everyone thought Alex would amount to nothing due to the kind of life he had as a child.
A child who went through traumas and a series of therapies, but none were able to revive him. But today the man turned his pain into gold and became the most dangerous man in the city. His achievements are impressive, but Kendrick didn't like the boy a bit, his presence has done more harm than good to him.
He smiled, staring at the cold man with an expressionless face, just a few minutes ago, this boy caused murmurs and made both the single ladies and married women frown at himself and his wife's romance. He must really love the girl to be ready to show her out to the world. To his kind of world.
Just as the trio stood together, Kendrick finally started a conversation with Oliver, "Congratulations Mr. Wilson." A busty lady sauntered towards them, in an astonishing green dress, which matched her red coiled hair perfectly. In all the Wilson's party, she's attended, she's never seen this boy before, but tonight Alexander is here in flesh and blood.
"Aunt Agartha." Alex greeted politely. "I was about to drop my gift with your wife Alex, I never knew she is this beautiful."
He stared at the woman smiling and waving at someone, it was Philip Hornes, Alex almost forgot he invited the man over since he is now married to Hazel's best friend. The last thing he wanted was to see her sad, but what got him upset was the fact that she was giving him her seductive smile, the one she doesn't use around him.
She quickly noticed his stare and averted her gaze, Alex chuckled. She's still embarrassed at their naughtiness earlier. "Thought we agreed you'd eliminate the last Hornes once and for all?" Oliver asked can't when he saw the young boy in his mansion. "I'm tired of bloodstains, besides, he's now connected to my wife."
"Hmm, the bad guy married a good one, how delightful... I bet your wife knows nothing about you." Kendrick stepped in, earning a glare from Alex. "That shouldn't be your problem, Kendrick." "My my... That's not how you speak to your elders Alex." Agartha chimney in. Alex only gave her a cold stare before leaving them behind.
"Don't touch him, father." He warned before leaving. The last thing he wanted was to stand there and argue with a bunch of old people whose job is to control people's life
"What did you turn your brother's son into Oliver, I bet your brother is crying in his grave right now." Agartha passed her aggression to Oliver. If only her family had listened to her and not let the useless Oliver raise the boy... "I turned my brother's son, and the only heir of the Wilson's empire into a successful businessman Agartha, I don't have the time to argue or explain anything to you."
She glared at the man before stepping away, Alex's father her brother was the kindest of them all, he made sure not to have any issues with anyone, but they killed him. Oliver knew if he didn't make Alex as strong as he is today, he would have been dead long ago.
The business world is filled with evil, one has to be strong and cunning in other not to be pulled down. Everything the Wilson owns today is a result of his cruelty and cunning ways, he did it for Alex, he did it for his kids.
These people judging his son have all killed people before, but they're all so quick to throw stones at others.
He does not have a son of his own, but Alex has filled more than enough space for that, he's been a brother and a son to him, Alex has made him a proud father and grandfather. Oliver walked up to his daughter-in-law to give her his gift. Hazel has made him the happiest father in the world, her smile tonight is heavenly.
.
"Hello, Hazel." Father strode towards me with a smile which I returned, everyone was so friendly which made me wonder why my family was not here with me already. Dad promised they will be here, but they were not.
"Father," "Here's your gift." I took the box from him and opened it when I heard Leonard announce, "Sir the Huxley's are here." I raised my head only to see them walk in, grandma stepped in proudly, her usual walking, mum had a humble appearance, but Dad didn't give off an impression as he had his impassive unreachable face on.
Aunt Grace and Vieve were also present, both people stepped in elegantly not minding the eyes ogling at them. In fact, they seem like they love the attention, and some other relatives. The pressure my family had created on their arrival is unspeakable. I could feel the sudden friction in the building, it's unheard off, that the Huxley will be seen in the same building with the Wilson's.
"Oh, my dear Nessa." Mother went ahead to hug mum, it isn't their fault they are both married into families who despise each other a lot. "You look so good Ria." Mum complimented, "You're not looking bad yourself." Mother said. I smiled as I watched both women converse, hoping this would be I and Carie in the future. Only that our life and relationship would be much easier since our babies are friends.
Dad strode towards me, "Oliver." "David." Both men exchanged greetings and father walked away. "My love," Dad called and I stretched my hands for a hug, still not standing. I don't think I've gotten up since Alex placed me on that chair, "Stand up and hug your father Hazel." He said calmly.
I shook my head, "Alex asked me not to." Dad let out a sigh and hugged me, he squat to my level, "I miss these rascals so much, do they still give you trouble?" "They do, especially tonight, but their dad begged them to stop." I blushed just at the thought of the crazy man. I could already feel my heart palpitating loudly which made me dart my gaze around in search of him, but as usual, Alex was nowhere to be found.
"I got this for you." Dad handed me his gift, "Well if it isn't my husband and the other woman, you have a husband now Hazel." Mum stepped in and hugged me even without me asking. "What has got my baby so upset?" She asked caressing her thumb on my chin. "Nothing much." I smiled sweetly. It was better I kept anything related to Alex to myself telling mum and Dad will just make them dislike him more. "Aren't you done aunty, I need to give Hazel my gift." Falcon stood behind them and I met his gaze.
"That's true, there's a strong line ahead, we'll be around to talk before leaving." I nodded at Dad's words. Mum dropped her gift for my babies, before leaving with that. At this point, I couldn't even count the number of gifts I'd received tonight.
"Hey, gorgeous." He had a sweet smile, the type that had me smiling back, Falcon was a good friend to me, one of the honest types I've met, but he got the wrong feelings for me. "I hope we could still be friends in the future." "Yes, of course, distant friends sure do work."
"Don't treat me this way Hazel, I'm no stranger." "Don't make our conversation seem strange Falcon, it's best for you if you're far away from me." "No, it's not." He shook his head.
What has gotten over this man? I prayed inwardly for this man not to do something stupid and ruin my party. "I love you so much Hazel, I can't do without you." I darted my gaze around quickly to see if anyone heard that. "I'm a married woman Falcon, I love my husband. Don't create a scene for nothing." He inhaled air through him harshly shaking his head slightly.
"Can I have your attention everyone please, I have a confession to make?"
What is this foolish man planning to do? He can't possibly confess his feelings before these people can he?
