"Father! We forgot the rings!"
The whole situation felt surreal to the groom, while he watched as Fan Tiffany called the attention of the priest to a critical item that was missing from the wedding.
"Forgive me, my dear child. I'm getting along with age. Little child, can you bring the rings so that I can bless them and bestow it upon the groom and the bride?"
Dressed smartly in his church suit and bow tie, the boy hurried came closer to where the priest was, who then laid his hand on the rings to bless them.
"Dear Heavenly Father, may these rings serve as a medium to promote unity among the bride and groom, until death do them part."
With that, the priest ended his prayers and asked the ringer bearer to stand in front of the couple.
"You may now place the ring on each other."
Jiu Wei bent to pick one of the rings and placed it on the left ring finger of Fan Tiffany. After, she too bent to take the last ring and place on the same finger as those of the groom. Flower girls held their baskets as they waited to be given the order to start spraying the new couple with flowers.
The priest smiled broadly like a proud parent watching his child take their first baby steps.
"I now pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss the bride."
It was then that Jiu Wei's palms began to sweat profusely, never had he kissed a girl nor woman in his life and here he was, being asked to do so in the presence of so many people.
