章節 14: Lisa's relative
Not long after returning to the rented room, Jake received a call from his landlord. Jake was very grateful to his landlord because if it weren't for their help, he might have ended up sleeping on the streets. Moreover, the house he rented had a good surrounding environment and nice interior decoration, yet the rent was low, which saved him a lot of money. So Jake had always felt grateful to his landlord.
"Hello, Lisa, what's up?" Jake immediately answered the phone.
"Jake, here's the thing. I mentioned before that I have a relative coming to J City for college, and Ready to live in this house, live with you. She's arriving today, but something urgent came up, and I can't go. Can you take care of her when she arrives?" Lisa said over the phone.
"Sure, no problem," Jake replied. Lisa had indeed mentioned this matter before, and with the start of classes at Princeton University just a few days away, her relative should be arriving soon. The house Jake lived in was a three-bedroom apartment, and besides his own room, there were two empty rooms. It wouldn't be an issue for another person to move in. Jake was just a tenant, so he had no objection to Lisa letting her relative stay.
"That would be great, thank you," Lisa said.
"Lisa, don't worry. I'll take good care of her," Jake assured.
"Okay, I trust you to handle it," Lisa said.
After hanging up the call with Lisa, Jake put on his coat and headed out again. He planned to go to the market to buy groceries since he had already promised Lisa to take care of her relative, and he wanted to do his best. Jake was no stranger to buying groceries and cooking. Over the past year of living in rental accommodations, he had developed these skills. Although his cooking wasn't top-notch, it was still pretty good.
"The vegetables and fruits in that game world were fresh. If I could bring some here to sell, they would probably be well-received," Jake thought as he bought groceries at the market. He couldn't help but recall the things from the game world. That world was very close to reality, so people still needed to eat there. Jake had mostly been eating dry rations, but he noticed that the village grew vegetables and fruits, which looked fresh and free from pollution. The taste of the produce grown there should be good.
Jake once again started thinking about selling vegetables and fruits. He didn't have much savings at the moment and needed money, so he naturally considered any opportunity to earn money.
"I remember there's an empty plot of land behind the village. When I go back there, I'll ask the village elder if he can rent it to me so I can grow some vegetables and fruits. That way, I'll have another income source," Jake thought to himself. The more he thought about it, the more feasible the idea seemed.
In reality, renting land would require money, and it would also need care and attention. Jake didn't have much knowledge or time for farming. However, it was different in the game world. If he rented the land there, it would be his, and no one would come and take it away. Moreover, he was the only player in the newbie village, so he wouldn't waste time on supervision.

Selena was about to become a freshman at Princeton University. However, before coming, Selena's relative had told her that there was a tenant in their house, so Selena was mentally prepared. Of course, the tenant was a good person, so Selena didn't have to worry too much.

In the end, it was Jake who reacted first and asked tentatively, "Are you Lisa's relative?"
"And you're the tenant at my aunt's place?" Selena didn't answer Jake's question but instead asked in return.
"If you're not in the wrong place, I believe I am the tenant at your aunt's place," Jake said.
"How could this be?!" Selena exclaimed in a state of collapse. She had never been in a relationship before, and now she was supposed to live with a man? Selena truly felt overwhelmed and on the verge of a breakdown.
