Emerald jumped out of her skin for a second, startled, finding a tanned tall girl with long curly honey hair, golden corrective eyeglasses, monolid sage green eyes, in a hot pink tight silk dress with a gold snake-shaped belt around her waist, and a snake insignia on the left side of her chest in white. Holding an iPhone up at her, and having a huge black Doberman at her side, her familiar.
Who the fuck is this now? She clenched her jaw. Anything?
["Pure heart,"] they chanted.
["Sssssomeone you ssssshould befriend inssssstead of the red-head girl, no bad intentionsssss towardsssssss you!"] Jade scoffed.
Can you stop bringing Saoirse into this? Damn it, Jade. "You are?"
"Selene above, you're talking to me!" She beamed. "Can I call you Em?" When Emerald nodded, she turned her phone off and put it on the lil hot pink leather bag around the neck of the Doberman. "I'm your neighbor."
She blinked, "My what now?"
"Neighbor," the girl beamed with a huge smile.
Well, she's attractive. "Your room is next to mine?"
"In front of yours," she chanted. "Well, I share it with other three girls, who," sigh, "hate me, which is a nightmare. But hey, now I'm close to your room. This is Harmony, my familiar, she's a good girl," she petted the Doberman's head. "I'm Hope," she came closer, offering Emerald her slight calloused hand with nails in glittery hot pink.
Hope and Harmony, pretty names. "You know who I am," Emerald said softly, cleaning her right palm harder on her leggings now tainted in gold, and accepting her hand. "Emerald, but you can call me Em."
"My name is Hope Albuquerque Zhang, only my friends call me Hope, so, call me Hope," she winked charmingly. "I don't have friends, so, everyone else calls me Zhang."
"Hope it is then," she retracted her hands. "Green witch right?"
"Green-Golden," Hope tilted her head, "I'm mixed too."
Seems like I'll have to be careful with lying. "I see."
"You are really badass, Em. I saw the whole thing, I was making a vlog to post later, since I work in the Daily Alexandrini with the gossips and all, which is one of the reason everyone hates me. I'm, well, the outcast of all outcasts, hated by all seven houses," she chuckled anxiously. "So, if you don't want to befriend me for that, I'll totally get it."
Goddesses above, the kids in this school are terrible. "Hope, I don't give two shits about what they think of me, I make my own decisions per what I want and believe. I don't know about friendship, I'm kinda lacking trust for that yet, but we can be friendly, close acquaintances."
The girl's face lightened so much that Emerald thought she was about to cry or some shit. "Really? Can I?" As she nodded, the girl began jumping around overjoyed. "Thank you, Em. I promise I won't gossip about anything you tell me, and I'm a person of word, even if everyone I trusted backstabbed me. And I have lots of information on everyone."
Okay, now, this seems like a gain. "I'm also someone of word, and I won't tell anyone what you tell me," sigh. "So, uh, do you know what the hell happened for Jeffrey the Pervert to talk to me like that? Where the hell did he even get that from?" Fucking without kissing? I'm a virgin both up and down, bitch, what the hell was that?
"Oh? Yeah, you were in your room the last days, right? Come, you are going to the communal dinning room, right? Me too, I'll take you there," to that, Emerald nodded and turned her iPad off. "Can we intertwine arms?"
She blinked, "Like in movies?"
"You never did that?" Emerald bounced her head negatively. "Yes, it's like in the movies. Like this," she came closer and passed her left arm under Emerald's right, "see? It shows that you're closer to someone."
"Oh? Okay," I'm not used to physical touch anymore, since Saoirse was not a fan of it, and neither was I, or so I thought. It feels comfortable. "Are you Brazilian-Chinese?" Her surnames were.
"Yes!" She beamed and Harmony followed on her right. "My mom is a golden witch originally from Brazil, though she was born in Wales. My dad was born and raised in China, and he was a green and part of the school in there, the Qiao Qingsheng academy, it's the 5th strongest in the world, it prioritize mainly kids from China, Japan, and Korea. In the world rank of schools, it's after Alexandrini of the UK, Korobeynikov of Russia, Houdin Charbonneau of France, and Allen-Valentin of the US. Alexandrini is the strongest by far compared to all the others, which is why everyone wants to come here. I got in because I'm partially Welsh, thus, British."
Well, she's very talkative and open for sure. Extroverted. I'm also part British because I was born in Scotland. "You're a legacy by the side of your mom then?"
"Mmhm, mom also attended Alexandrini, and so did her parents, since my grandma's Welsh and my grandpa's Brazilian, they met in here, then mom was born in Wales, she met dad through work, and they had me in Wales, and dad also now lives in the UK, but with deep connections into Qiao Qingsheng academy, since he's a legacy in there. In the end, dad's blood ran thicker in me and I fell into the Snake House instead of the Lion House, which is very chaotic given the conflict between the goldens and the greens in the UK. But not that much, since mom's coven is with the whites, not siding with any!"
I was supposed to be red-golden if I was normal, so I get it. I have absolutely no business being in the Snake House at all, but I'm different and in my case, what makes me weird makes me fit in anything I want. "Oh, I understand," she chuckled softly. "What does your mom works with?"
"She's a reporter," she beamed proudly. "A professional gossiper who writes about both the Phoenixes and the Dragons, and works directly for the UK Ministry. So, yeah, she's chaotic, and I got it from her. My dad is specialized in healing out of the abilities of a green, so, he's a doctor."
Yep. Extroverted and open. "So, you're the professional gossiper in Alexandrini and that's why people technically don't like you?"
A nod, "That's one of the reasons, yes. Now, about what that jerk said to you, it must be because of what Saoirse said in the celebration party, the day you arrived." Emerald tensed up, starting to feel sick. "They were playing truth or dare and they began asking indecent questions about you, and she said that though you're in birth control, you have yet to have your first kiss. So, now, everyone is talking about how you have sex doesn't kiss anyone!"
I am going to murder her. "Saoirse said what?" She hissed.
Hope swallowed, "But that's not the worse of this situation, Em."
"What? What is worse than that?"
"Jeffrey the Pervert, is not single," she clenched her jaw. "He has been dating for more than a year, supposedly seriously."
The blood drained from Emerald's face, and she had to hold all her anger not to get back there and kill the pervert for good. "What the fuck?"
"He's Ana's boyfriend," sigh. "Even I thought he was faithful, but it seems like the fucker was just hiding all of his nastiness inside. If he did that to you, assaulting you like that, I can't even think of what he might have done with the girls who aren't strong enough to go against him like you did. He is one of the strongest golden wizards of our year."
"I have to tell her," she clenched her jaw.
"Tell what to who?" Hope gasped.
"His girlfriend Ana. I have to tell her. As a fellow women, I can't just let her be fooled and cheated on like that, by a pervert that just assaulted me. Nyx and Selene be damned, I could never do that," she hissed.
"Girl, you just got all my respect," she chuckled self-deprecatingly. "I wish another witch had this much sorority towards me every time I was cheated in my past four relationships. Everyone knew and I had no idea."
Well, they really are the fucking worse. "Disgusting people. I hate when girls create feminine rivalry over a crush, or anything at all. It makes me nauseous. Disloyalty is one of the things I hate the most in the world, no matter from whom, it infuriates the hell out of me."
"Me too," she raised her right hand to her.
"A high five?" Emerald blinked.
"Yep, come on," she waved her hand and Emerald clapped hers on Hope's. "That's my girl. Come on, Ana is always on the communal dinning room at this hour, with her… friends. You won't like her friends though."
She tensed, "Who is she friends with?"
Hope grinned mischievously, "The Circle."
