章節 29: The Secret

After clearing the monsters which were warm-up until the bosses, Leon came to stop in front of a mansion. It was a city before it became a dungeon so it was reasonable for the last boss to be in the mansion of the lord who governed the city in ancient times. The mansion was big and it was looking like roman mansions but it was also worn down a bit showing its ancientness.

Leon could sense a powerful being inside of the mansion.

["If I didn't finish second tempering I couldn't... no I could still beat him but I wouldn't be Scot-free."]

Leon also sensed a difference from the monsters that he killed until now. When Leon scanned them with senses he saw only pure violence. But this time, he didn't feel any emotions, it was weird. Leon didn't know why he also didn't know the purpose of the dungeons. It was true that the inhabitants could grow stronger while battling due to the lure of the treasures but the consciousness of the world didn't have to create this dungeons for it, it wasn't worthy of the effort.

Leon felt that he could illuminate the secrets of the system world when he opened this door and see what was behind it.

Leon hold his spear and walked towards to the door, the team also followed him but after a few steps, all of them stopped other than Leon. He didn't noticed this until he reached the door. He turned and looked at them and Hermes.

"Why did you stop?"

"The system is stopping me." Theo said and the others nodded. Leon couldn't understand why the system interfered but even so why Hermes stopped. Hermes should have understand the question of Leon. He cawed as response, others didn't understand but Leon did due to their connection. His caw ruffly meant Hermes felt suffocating pressure when he advanced.

Leon's feeling about unraveling the mystery became stronger but he also felt pressure. It wasn't the same kind that Hermes felt but mental one. It was a mental pressure that ones felt when they would leave everything behind and step towards to the unknown, a mental pressure from uncertainty.

Leon nodded and faced to the door, the door was looking like it was unmovable to Leon after he heard the system interference. He tighten his grip on his spear and exhaled a mouthful of air then he slowly pushed open the door. When he opened the door, gust of wind blew on his face and it waved his hairs. Leon didn't waited at the entrance and entered inside of the mansion. After he entered the door closed.

"What happened just now? Why the system forbid us to enter inside?"

Heinz asked he was curious and worried. He never heard about interference of the system in his life. The system was impartial and didn't intervene to anyone, so what just happened was one of a kind. Theo was looking at the gate with his brows furrowed, he didn't answered Heinz question, he didn't have any answers for it either.

"We can't do anything, we should sat down and wait."

Then he looked at Hermes who wasn't looking like he was worried and that made him relaxed. If Hermes was restless that would show there was a problem. Theo sat down and the rest also sat down with him, waiting for Leon to emerge.

Leon was inside and looking at the thing in front of him. He didn't now how to describe it, he could "see" and he could feel familiarity from it. If there was another person were to here, they wouldn't even felt it least to see like Leon. He couldn't describe it because one couldn't describe a color to natural born blind. No, it wasn't something like that it was more like choosing which hue of the ultraviolet color was good to look at. The technology in his previous world allowed the people to sort out them by their wavelength but they couldn't see them.

Leon surprised to see such a thing, it was first time in his both lives such thing. He didn't even know what it was. After his amazement passed, he could understand the intent of the system, actually the system send him a quest.

Leon read the mission content, he didn't bothered why the reward was hidden but he was actually surprised even more to see it was a secret mission. He didn't heard anything like a secret mission while he was in the system world. It was understandable that the secret mission would be a secret.

Leon played games in his past life like many others so he could ruffly guess that he could reap a handsome reward from this quest.

Leon looked at in front of him and spread his senses to understand a bit more about the foreign element. He didn't slacked off, he throughly inspected it. After inspecting for two hours he could tell that it was a clump of pure air element with laws embedded.

When Leon figured out what was it, he was overjoyed. Even if there wasn't any rewards, the pure air element was one of the best nutrient for Leon who was a titan. But Leon didn't immediately start to absorb it but he started think why there could be a foreign element but he couldn't figure it out, he had some guesses but nothing definite.

Either way, it was a win for Leon. He already finished his elemental tempering but the titan cultivation was endless and he could temper his body indefinitely as long as he could find enough resources.

Leon sat down in front of the foreign air element and he started to absorb it according to his titan inheritance. The air element in front of him slowly entered in his body and started to augment the quality of the air element inside of his body, to be more specific in his heart.

The heart was the core of a titan so all elemental power would store inside and strengthen the body from there. As long as the heart continued to beat, Leon's body would grow stronger.

Absorbing the air element was monotonous and required Leon's full attention so he couldn't even think how much time passed. Because he was passing his time in such monotonous way, he even felt years passed, his impatience was one of flaws, he also knew that he was an impatient man but he treated this process as a tempering of his character.

He had no concern about breaking the equilibrium of elements in his body, after reaching the perfection the elements would support each other and if there was any excess elements they could turn each other to hold the equilibrium.

When he absorbed the last wisp of the foreign element, Leon didn't get up but he regulated his breathing. He was soaked with his sweat. He wasn't exhausted bodily but mentally. After gathering himself up he looked for the reward which was promised by the system.

Leon looked at the explanation of the quest and he learned that there was three more foreign elements in the system world and he needed to eliminate them too but this time the rewards wasn't hidden.
