章節 10: Mercenary Guild

After the ceremony ended, Leon leaved the palace and met with Josh who was waiting outside. Without further ado they went to the construction company to consult about the city building and his mansion. After an hour or so Leon made a deal with the company. He paid a lot of money but it was worth it. But most of his money spent on his mansion.

With deal was done, there was only one thing remain to do in the capital. Leon was planning to build his city northwest of the capital. Loren Empires capital was in the middle of the country and in the northwest, there wasn't any powerful noble houses. The company estimated after six months, the construction would be done. After selecting where to place the four of order and making formations to support it, Leon wanted to go to Undead Empire and enter an academy as soon as possible.

Rising the population in the fief and managing it, would be rest on Josh's shoulders during his stay at Undead Empire. While Leon and Josh was walking towards Josh's house, Leon was telling his ideas about the city and its management. Josh went to the butler academy so he had some management skills but not to professional extent, with Leon's modern knowledge he was confidant that he could manage the city for a brief period of time.

Leon and Josh separated, Josh went to the house and Leon went to a mercenary guild to recruit some of them to reclaim the land and protect it until he returned from Undead Empire.

When he entered the mercenary guild, he was greeted with a strong alcohol smell and a rowdy crowd with some of them trying to harass the waitresses and some of them laughing while telling obscene jokes. The mercenaries was living the day, they didn't have the concept of tomorrow. All they had earned, would be spend in the same day. Their attitude to the life wasn't incomprehensible, they were always fight within dangers and they didn't know when and where they were going to die.

Leon walked to the front of the bartender and ordered a beer. When he drank it, he nearly spat it. It had some terrible taste. Forcible swallowing it, he placed the mug on the table and asked the bartender.

"I want to hire some mercenaries but they needed to have some decency."

"There are strong mercenaries and weak mercenaries." Said the bartender without lifting his head from cleaning the mug on his hands.

"I need some strong mercenaries but they had to remain in the fief for a period of time."

"Fief? You're working for a noble?" asked the bartender lifting his head for the first time.

"You can say like that."

Bartender nodded and thought a bit and finally spoke.

"There is a group of mercenaries, they are strong and they are not bad guys. They shouldn't make any problem for you."

"Are they in the guild?" asked Leon

"They are on the second floor, follow me. I'll bring you to them."

Saying that the bartender leaved the bar and walked towards the second floor with Leon. The second floor was looking same but there was fewer people and the second floor was more quite. While Leon was looking around, the bartender walked to a table and said something to a middle aged man as he was pointing to Leon. After that he leaved the second floor.

Leon sat down opposite of the man looked to him. He was looking powerful man with a military air around him. He was different from the mercenaries which he saw on first floor.

Leon didn't beat around the bush and revealed everything from the start.

"My name is Leon Titanheart, I will reclaim a land from northwest of the empire. The duration of the mission can be long as six month."

The mans eyebrows rose and his eyes opened. He looked to Leon for five seconds and after that he gained his composure.

"Sir is a noble huh. I heard someone bought the four of order and that means you were the one."

"Yeah, I bought it."

The man tapped his finger on table in deep thought. Leon didn't know what he was thinking. Leon just waited him to speak.

"Sir, you might not know this, but I aspired to become a knight when I was younger. But now, I only want some place to call home. I have a house in capital but it is rental."

Leon didn't interrupt him, but he could guess what he was going to say. The man continued

"Don't misunderstand me sir, I'm not tired of fighting. In the battlefield, I'm like a fish in the water. I don't like killing but I like cleaning messes. That's way I always fight with the bandits. You could say that because of this I wanted to become a knight."

Leon misunderstood him. But right now he could really guess what he was going to say.

"Without a home, I feel like a ship without an anchor." Said the looking up then looked at Leon

"Sir, I want to remain as your soldier after the mission ends. I don't have lofty ideas about being a knight anymore."

One of the ideas he shared with Josh was establishing a police force in the fief. The man in front of him could make some good police.

"What's your name?"

"My name is Martin, sir"

"Martin, I have more alluring proposal to you. When the city is going to established, I'd need some people to hold order in the fief. They would be different from the guards or soldiers. They would only specialize on solving big or small crimes in the fief."

Hearing that, Martin thought this kind of job would be more suitable for him. Leon continued

"You're a mercenary leader right? You need to gather your subordinates and tell them what is mission. There is a long road ahead of us."

Saying that Leon and Martin made a deal on the price and Leon leaved the guild saying that they would depart tomorrow.

Leon went to Josh's House and met with Roland. He didn't forget him just he didn't have the time to make contract with him. Leon and Roland got the study room and sat opposite of each other.

"Do you know why I wanted to recruit you?"

"It must be because of my talent, sir."

Leon smiled and nodded. "That was the reason but only with talent you couldn't do the job. You need a secret technique."

Roland looked to Leon and nodded. Roland open his mouth a few times, clearly showing he was hesitating to say what was on his mind.

"Sir if you going to give me cultivation technique, I want one for my sister."

Finally he said what he wanted to say. Leon also wanted to give Rose a cultivation technique but he didn't wanted make too easy for his future subordinates to prevent them being to dependent to him.

"Why should I?" asked Leon softly. He was clearly asking what was in for him. Roland also understood that Leon wasn't angry just he was asking.

"Sir, My sister also has the same talent like me furthermore she is smarter than me." Roland explained. Roland didn't want sister to leave him behind and die. She was the only family member he had in this world. He worked for the thugs while he was living in the slums for money to take care of her.

"Call her over." said Leon if she had the same talent like her brother, it would be better for Leon.

Roland immediately leaved and brought his sister with him to the study room. Without further ado, Leon asked her to show her talent. Rose closed her eyes and focused a bit. Leon noticed that her presence was getting thinner and thinner. It was the prove that she had the same like her brother.

Leon brought two soul contract from his bag and wrote their contract then gave to them. After reading the contracts they cut their fingers and press bloody imprint to their contract. Leon took them and put them in his bag. Leon also thought which cultivation technique to give Roland, [Shadow Dragon Tempering Technique] was a different type of body tempering technique. It was a bloodline technique, to be precise it was a preparation technique to become a bloodline warrior. Even without a bloodline the grade of this technique was high. In the library of the school, there was these kind of techniques from each attributes. But [Shadow Dragon Tempering Technique] was for males so Rose couldn't cultivate it. He also had [Shadow Phoenix Tempering Technique] for female type in the darkness attribute.
