Chapter 155: Are You Human?
"Wait!" Will screamed, stopping Alice. "What good does this do you anyway?"
"It makes me happy," Alice replied with a smile, pausing her actions.
"Let's talk," Will said in an indescribable tone. "Just let me be born quietly. I won't bother you if you don't cause trouble, okay?"
"But," Alice mused, "don't you find it terribly boring just floating in amniotic fluid?"
"Not at all, thank you!" Will rejected Alice's offer without hesitation.
Alice regretfully put away her dagger and responded more seriously: "I just feel like fate really wants us to have a fight to the death right now and settle this."
"So you're in such a rush for us to perish together?" Will asked, bewildered.
"No," Alice shook her head. "It's mainly because I don't think I could beat you after you're born."
Will suddenly didn't know what to say. After all, he couldn't exactly promise he wouldn't do anything after being born. Not only would Alice not believe that, even Alan outside wouldn't buy it.
"Besides," Alice said thoughtfully, looking at Will, "I think it might be too late already."
"What do you mean?" Will suddenly had a bad feeling.
"Hmm..." Alice furrowed her brow, organizing her thoughts. "Have you heard of Amon?"
"What did you do?" Will asked uneasily.
"Oh," Alice explained with a smile, "I told Amon he was the second angel who wanted to kill me, so he asked who the first one was and why they wanted to kill me..."
"?" Will didn't speak, but the image in the mirror shook slightly.
"I said I might be the sequence 0 potion ingredient for you, and he seemed interested in coming to take a look," Alice blinked.
"You really..." Will's voice was filled with complex emotions. "I thought you had changed a little, but you haven't changed at all."
"How so?" Alice asked, puzzled. "Isn't Ulorus not here?"
"What's the difference?" Will demanded. "You're still doing things that harm others without benefiting yourself. At most, it's just a bit less severe!"
"No," Alice argued, "I think it still benefits me."
"Alice," Will chose not to argue this point, "I won't stop you from advancing, so just let me be born quietly, okay?"
"I can help you be born early," Alice replied, raising an eyebrow.
"Is that your answer?" Will's tone lost its initial casualness and ease.
"What do you want me to do?" Alice countered. "Let you regain your power, then one day suddenly swallow me whole?"
As she spoke, Alice recalled the cautious yet deceptive Will Auceptin from her memories, and suddenly asked:
"Or do you think I'm still as gullible as before?"
Instead of directly answering Alice's question, Will asked: "How much do you remember about the past?"
"Want to guess?" Alice blinked.
Will was silent for a moment, then asked curiously:
"If you don't even have confidence in gaining enough power to defeat me during this time, what makes you think you can be stronger than me?"
Alice chuckled softly:
"I don't think I'm stronger than you. I just feel that for so many years in the past, fate has always been on your side, but even so, you couldn't become a god...
"If I were fate, I'd definitely want you to hurry up and die to become someone else's potion ingredient by now."
"?" The image in the mirror shook again.
Alice stared at the mirror and asked thoughtfully: "Hey, you're not upset, are you?"
"...You're not the embodiment of fate!" Will's actions answered Alice's words.
"Maybe I really am?" Alice said with a smile. "Why is your attitude so poor? Amon's attitude is much better than yours, you know?"
"?" The image in the mirror shook, followed by Will's gritted teeth: "So, you sought out Alan Cress just to tell me all this?"
"No," Alice blinked. "To be precise, Alan actively found me."
"What do you mean he actively found you? What's your relationship? And wasn't it you who leaked information about me?" Will asked, unable to understand.
"You don't even know he received a revelation?" Alice asked in surprise. "Then it seems fate really doesn't want to deal with you anymore."
"?" Will felt insulted. "Wait, explain this clearly to me."
"Why should I tell you?" Alice blinked.
"...Aren't you afraid you won't be able to leave this room?" Will tried to threaten Alice.
"If you had that ability, why didn't you do it from the start? Is it because you don't want to?" Alice asked sincerely.
"...Damn it," Will cursed under his breath. "What do you want to know?"
"That sealed item," Alice answered, "the 'Wheel of Fate' uniqueness. I want to know its appearance and function—I know you won't tell me its location."
"..." Will was quiet for a moment, then spoke in a lighter tone: "It seems you don't remember much after all."
Alice lowered her gaze, not responding to this comment.
Memories are the carriers of personality. If she truly remembered several lifetimes of memories, would that really be a good thing for her?
Even now, those past lives were already causing her trouble.
Seeing that his verbal attack didn't have the expected effect, Will paused before saying:
"The item solidified from the 'Wheel of Fate' uniqueness is called the 'Dice of Probability'.
"The 'Dice of Probability' appears as a milky white six-sided die with red pips.
"It controls the probability of every event. A roll of 1 maximizes unfavorable probabilities for the target, 2 greatly increases unfavorable probabilities, 3 somewhat increases unfavorable probabilities, while 4 to 6 have the opposite effect."
Alice frowned, trying to recall more details based on Will Auceptin's description, but unfortunately, she failed.
Alice pursed her lips and said to the mirror:
"Alan told me he had a dream.
"In that dream, two giant white snakes were facing off against each other, while I stood by waiting for you two to determine a victor.
"Alan came to find me because in that dream, I was the only one who still looked human."
Will Auceptin snickered as if he had heard something amusing and asked:
"You're human?"
