章節 12: Episode 12: Oh This takes Precedence

She stared blankly at him for a few minutes.

"You are serious..."

It was not a question but a statement on her side when she said this. Because she could see that all of them had a serious look. Even Aaron who was still joking around a while ago.

She closed her eyes when she felt a bout of dizziness coming. Her head is aching a lot and now she felt like any moment now and her world would start spinning.

But not yet, she needs to grasp the situation they are in.

"I understand that you guys were injured during our last battle. But I think that does not justify the fact that you guys would collapse and for all of us to just sleep for a thousand years. Without our bodies being affected. As you said I have been asleep for two years. Which means we are all eighteen years old this year. So why are we eighteen?!?! We should all be dust by now. No one no matter how magical our world is has lived for more than a hundred and fifty years, let alone a thousand."

They could see that same reaction on her that they had when they first realized that they are not in the timeline they are supposed to be.

Shock, confusion and there is indeed anger.

Luna took a deep breath after seeing their faces.

She needs to calm down or they won't be able to tell her anything that they know. At the same time, they must have been as confused as her when they just realized what was going on, she can't blame them for they are in the same condition as she is.

She herself is lucky, she can ask them what is going on but what about them when they just woke up? They had to start from scratch.

"I didn't mean to get mad. I'm sorry."

"Not your fault," Spencer replied.

She nodded her head, "Then tell me what happened after I collapsed?"

That is where everything began, what happened after she collapsed.

"We were near you and were prepared to destroy the core after you have destroyed the body but before we could do so, the core exploded."

She was silent for a bit, "Explosion doesn't necessarily mean it had been destroyed but it could be a way for them to escape."

Spencer nodded his head, it was easiest to speak with Luna. Among the five of them, it was the two of them who did not need too many words in order to understand one another.

Luna sighed, "And I guess, you guys have not found out how it happened?"

Spencer and the rest shook their heads.

"You guys should..."

She took a deep breath, "You guys should continue on taking a rest. We can talk again after... after that."

She walked away from their group and sat by the river.

"You'll not accompany her?" Aaron asked Spencer.

Spencer shook his head, "She needed to digest what she just found out. Let her be for now. Let's rest just as she had said."

And they did, each looked for a place to lay down and rest.

Luna was staring blankly at the river.

'Luna... time to eat.'

'It's your favorite... crabs.'

'Hey, hey take it slow, no one will take it away from you.'

'Some hot coffee for our hardworking princess?'

'How about a date with your father?'

'It has been a while, how about having some vacation by the beach?'

'Don't work too hard. You know we are here, right?'

'I love you so much my darling.'

'We are grateful every single time you return to our arms.'

She hugged her knees and buried her face between them.

A thousand years of slumber meant that everything has changed in the world they are in.

Their family must already be long gone.

Their friends... obviously they wouldn't be around either.

As she sat there in silence, time flew by.

The headache and dizziness intensified and she knew it was no longer a simple matter.

When she raised her head, the sun was about to set.

"My mind was blank for a good while, I did not expect that so much time had passed."

She stood up and stretched, her body is also sore from sitting so long.

She rubbed her temple and closed her eyes when she turned and was met by the glaring sunset light.

She walked towards Spencer.

"Spencer," she called while shaking him awake.

Since she told them to rest, they fully let go of their consciousness knowing full well that nothing will happen since she was on guard.

"Are you awake?" she asked when he opened his eyes.

Spencer rubbed his eyes, "Yeah. Are you okay?"

When his eyes focused on her, he noticed that she was flushed. Not because of the color of the sunset but it seems that it was because of something else.

"I guess not. Let's continue our talk later on-"

He was able to catch her when she lost consciousness.

And when he did catch her, he got to touch her face.

"Aren't you hot?!?"

His exclamation woke the others.

"What happened?" they worriedly got to him.

"It seems she has a fever."

*SLAP*

Preshea hit her forehead, "I have forgotten about it. If she excessively used her ability, she would fall sick. I noticed it before but because of everything I forgot."

Spencer shook his head and carried Luna, "Let's go back."

"There?" Aaron was hesitant.

"It is fine. Since they tried to do it in such a way, surely they won't let the whole kingdom know of what happened. Especially since it was their defeat," he replied.

With that they returned, went straight to their house since it was close to the main gates of the kingdom.

Preshea helped in changing Luna.

Then they took turns in taking care of her.

Her fever was quite high so they worry that something might happen if they look away from her even if it's just a second.

The next day, she woke up.

Not completely fine but was feeling much better.

"Your bags are competing with one another," she commented when she saw the four of them, referring to the bags under their eyes.

"Do you realize how high your fever was last night?" Preshea shook her head.

Luna blinked at her before smiling, "I guess it is very high? What was with that anyway?"

She looked around the living room after asking that.

"This place seems like a nice place," she commented.

"It is nice and far from the plaza so it is not that noisy either. Well, as you already know your body is in bad condition. That is why I told you not to use your ability yesterday. Using it causes you to break into a fever and if not taken care of properly then your body's temperature will continue on rising," Spencer replied.

She stopped checking the place and looked back at them, "I almost died?"

"That's why our bags are competing," Aaron answered.

"Thank you for taking care of me for two years now. I think I should start there."

"That's unnecessary between us," Aaron rubbed his arms upon hearing her gratitude towards them.

Luna laughed, "Stop that."

*RUMBLE*

She pursed her lips when her stomach made its presence known.

And with an embarrassed laugh, "Do we have food?"

While having their brunch since it is close to lunch already, Luna continued asking about their current situation.

"You guys decided to be adventurers in order to find more clues on what happened to us. That is commendable, this work is one of the best ways in gaining information."

She then questioned about their situation yesterday and found out that because of their capability and how they work, the nobles and the royal family started seeing them as a thorn in their throats.

*SNAP*

The spoon in her hand snapped into two upon hearing the reason why they were in such a situation yesterday.

Aaron spurted the water he was drinking, 'That is a metal you know.'

"That's disgusting," Preshea complained, carrying her plate away from Aaron.

She was sitting opposite him, she instead sat on the seat next to her which is opposite of Luna who is beside Aaron.

It was a six chair table, Spencer and Richard are sitting at each end of the table.

Luna watched her actions before looking back at Aaron who was handed a cloth by Richard.

She looked back at Spencer, "You are saying that they couldn't keep up with all of you and decided it is better for all of you to just disappear."

She scoffed, "Such twisted thinking. Like ancestors, like descendants."

When she spatted out the words, there was obvious contempt in her tone.

With a huff she extended her hand towards Preshea.

"What?" Preshea asked.

"You have it, right? I saw it yesterday."

"What did you see?"

"The black orb."

Luna opened and closed her hand, "Give it to me."

"Uhmmm Luna, I don't know if I should be amazed or not. But have you already accepted the things we just said?" Aaron couldn't help but ask.

"Those details and me accepting our current situation can wait. They dare do that to my friends? Oh this takes precedence. Give it to me now Preshea."

Preshea blinked before handing the orb to her.

Luna stood up.

Spencer grabbed her wrist, "Where are you going?"

Luna smiled widely, "I just felt like wreaking havoc for a bit."
