章節 17: Chapter 16: The inquiry
I sigh, I look at the field around me.
This is where Céline trains, I don't know why, but I expected a more special place… About to pass the familiar test, I relaxed my neck muscles and stretched my arms, moving my hands like when a cat feels pleasure.
- Ready? - Asks the Director with a look that tells me that she is not very clear if it is okay to advance my test.
After spending the night with Céline, I woke up alone, in her room. Hers is similar to the one I share with Alesha and Diana, the only difference is that her clothes are completely sports clothes and there is only a double bed with soft silk sheets.
An expensive birthday present, smuggled in.
I nod my head, that same morning, Céline had gone to talk… Discuss, with the Director. And after much insistence, she has managed to advance my test. With a couple of written tests, with an almost perfect score, her doubts have been clarified.
I hear how she murmurs a couple of words in Greek, an energy that comes from her aura surrounds her, now it is also visible to Céline and the twins.
Upon learning of my… privilege, the sisters could not contain their emotion. They have followed me to the field and now they wait expectantly with the teacher to see what kind of family I have.
I sigh, I recognize the nervousness circulating through my veins like a quick and effective poison.
We are all still here, but nothing happens.
I turn to the Director. Our eyes suffer a fleeting encounter. She opens hers wide, then I understand what's going on. What does not happen.
She tries again under the urgent gazes of my roommates. More minutes of my life wasted.
- You have no familiar... - Alesha whispers in a soft and understanding voice.
I shrug, it's not like it's the end of my life. Céline takes a step forward, immediately leaves, realizes that, that night, only she's the one who remembers because she has my loyalty.
She decides to keep her mouth shut while the Director looks at me in an incomprehensible way. I give a somewhat exaggerated yawn and walk slowly back to Céline's room.
I want to continue sleeping on those expensive dark silk sheets.
