章節 1: Prologue

The world had descended into chaos. It was a quick downfall from the peak of modernity to a desperate fight for survival. For reasons unknown, the dead walked, driven by an insatiable hunger for the living. Survivors hunt for loot, kill for food. The very definition of a world bound by no rules.

After witnessing the horrific fate that befell her family, Kazumi Katsuragi, a 17-year-old high school student, was forced to navigate a landscape of lawlessness and chaos in her desperate fight for survival.

She joined a group of survivors, including her schoolmates Taro and Akane, along with Jake, a former soldier and experienced leader. United by a determination to survive, they scavenged for food, shelter, and safety, trusting only themselves and no one else.

In need of better protection, they targeted a gun shop for the much-needed firepower. As they entered, Kazumi's heart raced with anticipation.

But it was a day without gods, and fate had other plans.

They were late to the party, all the guns were looted. Bullet casings littered the floor, and the bodies of grotesque undead lay unmoving in the corners. Their putrid smell of rotting meat, unbearable to the nose, but they have to endure, for what they needed could be a matter of life and death.

Just as when despair began to creep in, Taro's voice cut through the silence.

"Over here!"

He crouched beside the counter, his hands brushing against something partially hidden beneath the splintered wood.

Kazumi hurried over, heart pounding. "What did you find?" She asked.

Taro cleared the debris to the side, revealing a small box tucked into a nook. As he pried it open, a glint of metal caught Kazumi's eye. Inside lay several boxes of 9mm bullets, neatly stacked. But what made her breath catch was a single, sleek pistol nestled at the bottom.

"Jackpot!" Jake exclaimed, his eyes lighting up. He reached for the pistol, checking its condition. "It looks like it is in good shape." Then hands it to Kazumi.

Kazumi felt a rush of hope. "This could change everything," she said, her mind racing with possibilities.

"Let us grab it and move," Akane urged, glancing anxiously at the door. "We don't have much time to waste here."

Everyone simultaneously agreed.

In that instant, a car crashed outside, shattering the silence.

CRASHHHH!!!!

The group exchanged worried glances. The noise surely would attract unwanted attention from the undeads.

"Shit!" Taro cursed understanding their current predicament.

"Akane! Kazumi! Pack as many bullets as you can." Jake yelled.  "Taro let's check if we can find something."

Minutes passed, as they were hastily gathering ammunition and checking for more weapons, the first of the unwanted visitors appeared. They were grotesque, shambling creatures with vacant eyes and grasping hands. Their teeths, sharp as blade can easily penetrate even through bones.

"Time to go!" Taro shouted as the group made a frantic dash for the door.

Jake and Taro at the front, metal bats in hand, ready to swing at anything. Behind them, Akane and Kazumi, gun in hand, quickly making their get away.

Kazumi, petit as she is, weighed down by her supplies, lagged behind the group. In the chaos, she got separated from her companions.

"Akane! Jake! Taro!" she screamed, but her voice loud, reached no one's ears.

Panic set in as Kazumi frantically searched for her friends. The fog thickens and made

impenetrable wall. Rolled in like a living entity. Disoriented, she stumbled forward.

Suddenly, the world around her dissolved. The sounds of gunfire, screams, and shuffling footsteps faded. The fog enveloped her, and Kazumi felt an unnatural, tingling sensation.

When the fog cleared, Kazumi found herself standing in an unfamiliar forest, not a trace of the now familiar chaos can be found, only the soothing songs of birds and the rustling of leaves.

"What is hapenning?" She ask herself, not knowing what to kake of it.

Confused and disoriented, Kazumi looked down at the lush green surrounding her feet. Gun, bullets, and a few carelessly packed supplies were the only evidence of the panic she was in minutes ago.

And now, "Where...where am I?" she whispered. Searching for someone to answer it for herself.

But the answer never came, like the world around her, remained shrouded in mystery.
