"I'm thinking about getting a different kind of jacket," Aster said, talking up a storm with Scarle and Aia. "Maybe a shorter version so it doesn't get dirty."
"Yeah, so you can't blame me for stepping on it," Said Aia, who had a smirk plastered to her face.
Hang on a sec, I thought to myself. I thought we were going to the game shop!
At first, we agreed to go to the entertainment shops, and then we would accompany Aster to the seamstress so he get a new uniform.
And here we are, waiting in line, just to get him a new jacket.
I knew I should've just stayed behind. If I did, I wouldn't be here, standing on my sore feet.
"I'm gonna go to the Starbucks over there," Maria pointed at the shop nearby. Now why is there a Starbucks near here? "Wanna come, Kyo?"
She waved at me to come, preferably a little more quickly. I ran over to her side in response, wanting to find a place to sit right away.
"Thank god," I let out a breath of relief. "Thanks for saving me back there. Holy crap, my feet still hurt from Phys Ed and following Aster around."
"Yeah, my energy is kinda depleted from the same thing," Maria stated. "I'll pay for the drinks, okay?"
Wait, drinks?
"Who said I was going to grab a drink? You don't need to buy anything for me. I can just buy myself some if I do want a drink."
"I inist! Call it a little celebration for our victory against Mr Ovid. I've heard he's pretty powerful. We must've been little playthings for him. Just a warm up."
That's a little blunt.
Luckily, the line wasn't that long thanks to amount of students in class. It was pretty peacefulother than the few, small friend groups chattering. It smelled like vanilla, which I actually like.
All I ordered was an Americano, something simple. My tastebuds are real wack, they have been my entire life. Maria ordered a caramel latte, kind of cliche if you ask me but whatever.
To pay, all we have to do is take out our phones and open the bank. Right under our number points is a barcode and that's what the cashier scans. At least I thought there was supposed to be a cashier, but no. There was just a a small machine that atoumatically scans it when we place it under a light.
The machine beeped once Maria paid for everything. The both of us sat down at an empty table, silently sipping at our drinks. It was mostly silent between us, only breif glances at each other.
"So," Maria finally said. "Did you figure out what your quote would be?"
"My quote?" I asked.
"The quote submission for our ID's. Did you come up with one yet? I heard that another school had already finished all their submissions."
Is there another school nearby or something?
"Pause, what school is this? I didn't know there was another school."
"Oh, yes," She nodded rapidly. "Instead of Institue of Mystics, it's the Institue of Infinity. XSoleil is pretty well known in another city, so it makes sense that you wouldn't know."
"Then, why do you about it?"
"Oh! When I became human, I did my best to study everything I could about humans. Things they like to do, the way they live, places they go. I was looking through a book when I came across XSoleil. If I'm right, Xsoleil is like the rival of Iluna, in a friendly way of course."
You're very invested in learning about humans, aren't you? Are these people even humans, though?
Xsoleil, that's a really weird name. I wonder what it's like there. Pretty sure soleil means sun in french or something. Does that mean they represent something about the sun? With that logic, wouldn't the luna in Iluna mean moon? Does Iluna represent the moon?
"What are we talking about?" I saw a person walk up to our table, she was holding a book in hands. It looked like a music book from the cover.
Which teacher is this?
"Ah, sorry, sorry," She said. And by her tone, that was the fakest "sorry" ever. "I'm one of the music teachers, Enna Alouette."
"You look a lot younger then the other teachers," Maria pointed out, and she really did look younger then most of them. "Are you, a trainee, maybe?"
"I'm actually a third year," Now that was a surprise for me. Maybe she really is a trainee teacher.
She looked like she represented a bird of some sort with the purple wings sticking out of her head. Her hair was like a blondish pink color, and eyes were a light purple.
"You said you were one of the music teachers, right?" I asked. "Does that mean there's more than one teacher for each class?"
"Bitch, I wasn't done talking yet." I felt myself shrink when she said that. Are teachers allowed to speak like that?
"I'm sorry," I quickly apologized.
"Some classes share the same teacher and some have more than one teacher. Like your Phys Ed teachers. Mr Ovid is also the english teacher."
That guy is an english teacher?! Ain't no way I just heard this shit!
"Anyway, spoiler alert," she smiled like she didn't just tell me to shut up. "Next week, Xsoleil first years will be coming over to tour Iluna. And the week after, Iluna will be touring Xsoleil."
We get to tour Xsoleil? Now that's actually something I can't wait for. I wonder what the students there are like.
"Phys Ed is almost done, so we should get going to our classes," Maria said. "Oh, we hould probably get everyone else too. They're still at the seamstress."
"Oh, yeah," I sighed. "Those dummies are still trying to get new uniforms. Uh, thanks for the info, Miss..."
"Just call me Enna," She said with her, uh, unique, voice. I've never heard a voice like that until now. "I am still a student, so just call me by my first name. Although, in class, you call me Miss Alouette."
She likes the sound of that, doesn't she?
"It was nice to meet you, Enna," Maria gave one last smile before we stood up to grab the others. "See you later!"
----------
Finally, school was done. I don't think I could've lasted another second with those guys. Maria would've been fine, but I think some of the others have a couple screws loose.
I'm not sure if Scarle is an enchantress or not, because she kept screwing up the potions recipes in our potions class. I mean, even Miss Parfiat and Miss Endou seemed a bit concerned. Or maybe it's just me and potions have nothing to do with enchantment.
Aster and Ren wouldn't stop flirting while we were in the library. They kept making faces at each other and whispered some weird shit too. I swear, my ears are better than I thought they were.
And don't even get me started on Aia trying to pick fights during lunch. Or was she fighting off bullies? I don't even know. But one thing is for sure, she went back to class with blood on her knuckes. I know I saw it.
I threw my body onto my bed, groaning from the absolute chaotic and tiring first day. If this is how school is going to be everyday, I'm not sure if I'll survive.
I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, it felt pretty weird against my thigh at the time. Reaching into my pocket, I pulled out the phone I had just gotten. Still pretty weird how the school can pay for so many new mobiles, not to mention the point currency they have set up.
I saw the notification on the lock screen, it was titled as "Moon Bros" with a moon emoji at the end. The person who sent the message was none other than that quirky horned third year, Ren.
When the hell did I give them my contact info?
Ren: Is anyone busy right now?
That sneaky little, I suddenly had the urge to barge into Ren's room and beat the guy up with my own fists. Some part of me knew that he someone took my phone and added his and Aster's contact info.
Kyo: Why am I in this group?
Aster: Don't worry, we won't give your contact to anyone else.
Kyo: Yeah, you'd better not or I'll personally beat you both to a pulp.
As a response, Ren sent a gif of a small kitten hidding in a corner. I couldn't help but smirk at it. At least somebody holds a little respect for me, right?
Ren: I'm still wondering if you two are busy or not.
Why did he want to know if we were busy or not? This had to be some weird ass prank.
Aster: No, not right now. You wanna meet somewhere?
Ren: Let's go to one of the entertainment stores. I wanna get the new Nintendo."
Hold up, they have switches here?
Kyo: I'll come!
Ren: Really? Sweet! You coming too, Aster?
Aster: Now I've gotta come if Kyo's going. Count me in!
Ren: We'll pick you up, Kyo. What's your dorm number?
Kyo: 105
Ren: Great! We'll pick you up then.
Kyo: Okay, I guess.
I put my phone down onto the bed and spread my arms out, stretching them before sitting back up. I just got back to my dorm and now I'm going back out, all because I realized they have switches in this world.
What did I just get myself into?
