章節 20: Web Launcher
Arriving in front of a warehouse, still in the car, when we reach a certain distance, the gate opens automatically, and the lights turn on, also automatically.
I park the car, inside the warehouse, me and Gwen, we get out of the car, I look to the side, and I see Gwen, looking around the warehouse, and seeing that it was totally empty.
"This warehouse is one of my personal warehouses, so don't worry about breaking anything," I said.
Hearing what I said, Gwen let out a sigh, and said, "well I should have expected this, but what are we going to test first?"
"There's something I'd like you to try, which is climbing the wall, using the same skill you used, for the wardrobe door, getting stuck in your hand."
"I don't know if I can do it again, let alone control it," Gwen said, her face a little worried.
Listening to what she said, I replied, "don't worry Gwen, let's train first, I trust you will succeed, control your powers".
With a face, now a little more determined, she said, "It's okay, I trust you too"
And so we started to test the sticking power, in the first five minutes, she was still having difficulty, but after half an hour of training, she was able to completely control her sticking power.
"You got Gwen, but now comes the second part of training, climbing the wall with that power."
With a flushed but determined face, Gwen spoke up, "We made it, without you, I couldn't, this control so quickly, I'm sure we're going to make the second part of training, too."
And so Gwen, started to climb the wall, slowly, but seeing that she was able to do it easily, she accelerated, until she reached the top, of the warehouse wall, which by the way, is relatively high.
When she reached the top, Gwen looked at me, and said with an excited face, "Jon, I did it!"
"Congratulations Gwen, I knew I could, but keep paying attention, I don't want you to fall."
And so another half hour passed, with Gwen honing her ability to climb the wall, until we heard a horn, hearing that, Gwen said, "Is that horn here?"
"Yes, I sent for some things to help with strength training, and also a gift for you."
"A gift?, what's the gift?", Gwen asked, looking curious.
"You'll see, wait," I said, laughing a little.
And so, I opened the warehouse gate, a truck came in, placed a container on the warehouse floor, and left, quickly.
Opening the container, it could be seen some very heavy dumbbells, and some machines that serve, to measure some things, like, force, speed, reaction speed, precision.
In addition to the machines and dumbbells, I had a small box, taking it, I handed the box to Gwen.
Opening the box, Gwen looked confused, "what is this?"
"This is a web launcher, Omega Industries, created this prototype, but seeing no practical use, they abandoned the project", obviously this is a lie, I made the launcher, the machines, and the dumbbells, preparing myself, for Gwen , or Peter, gaining spider powers.
Explaining, Gwen, how the launchers work, she is going to do the first test.
At the top of the warehouse wall, Gwen was getting ready, to reach another warehouse wall, using the web launcher, taking a deep breath, she gathered courage and jumped, launching the web towards the ceiling, she managed, hang herself, and easily arrived on the other side.
After a few minutes, Gwen having fun with the launcher, she was getting better, but I called her, and I said, "hey Gwen, how about we test your strength now?".
