O'Connell replied, " The Japanese separated themselves from the alliance of axis powers and Italy surrendered."
Alexander, " Why?"
This time Eve replied, " Germany slowly started dominating the axis powers as it had the possession of the sole mystical item on the side of the axis powers. Germany had made Italy his puppet state and was ruling it behind the curtains. One Italian officer overheard an conversation between the true top brass of the Germans. Hitler wanted to use Italian people as sacrifices for his artifact. Hitler had already killed all the Jewish people he could capture for powering his artifact. That Italian officer was horrified at the thought of his countrymen being used as sacrifices."
O'Connell, " The Italian officer contacted his comrades and they decided to surrender to the allies. They contacted their spies to make their terms of surrender known to the allies powers. The allies in order to weaken Germany decided to accept Italy's surrender but put forth their own demands. We don't know what was the deal between the two as we were not interested in it. Italy sneaked allied armies through the German patrols and started rebellion against the Germans. They killed off nearly every German military personnel present within their borders. Germany was surprised at the sudden turn of events and was not able to react properly. While Germany was dealing with the combined attacks of Italy and allied powers. Japan found an ancient weapon in the devil's sea. The Japanese lost an entire fleet in recovering the weapon."
Alexander, " How?"
O'Connell, " Well!! I don't know if you will only believe it, your majesty. I still don't fully believe it until now."
Alexander, " Go on, I will decide for myself whether I will believe you or not."
O'Connell, " That weapon had awareness, your majesty."
Alexander, " I believe you. Weapons having awareness are common in the universe."
O'Connell, " The weapon sensing danger started attacking the fleet. In the end, the Japanese broke the weapon into three pieces. But the weapon did not get destroyed, it was merely weakened. But it began losing it's power pretty quickly outside the sea or when the pieces were too far away from each other on land.The Japanese were angry with America as it was supplying allied powers with supplies. The Japanese attacked Pearl Habour late at night. But that attack was a distraction, the Japanese by using one of the three pieces sent a huge wave of sea water at the western coast of America. The Americans got wind of it and quickly evacuated their citizens from the areas that were going to be hit. Not all the people were able to get away in time and died. The loss of life and wealth was immense and Americans were filled with hatred. The Americans came to know that the remaining two pieces were planned to be used by Japanese to drown the whole America under the sea. The reason behind such a move was that Japanese had losing the war in South East Asia and with Italy's surrender, Germany was surrounded on all sides. Japan knew that the war was lost. They blamed the Americans as the allied didn't have the resources to fight the war for so long on so many fronts. The Americans came to know that the pieces were housed somewhere in Nagasaki and Hiroshima of Japan.Americans used their new invention to destroy the two pieces. They called it the nuclear bombs. They, without any warnings dropped the two bombs on the two cities. The two cities were turned into craters with a 100 metres depth, nobody survived, millions died. Japan, then surrendered."
Alexander was shocked at the changes in history of this world. Japan only attacked Pearl Harbour in his previous world. The Americans warned the Japanese people to surrender before dropping the first bomb, after few days the second bomb was dropped. The bombs that were dropped were not as powerful as those dropped in this world. Alexander asked, " What about the Germans?"
O'Connell, " Germany was surrounded on all sides without support. The allied forces didn't invade Germany but tried to persuade the Germans to surrender themselves and also the artifact. Hitler convinced his subordinates that the allied powers were afraid of the artifact. Indeed, the allied powers were afraid but not from the artifact but from Hitler himself. Hitler was an evil madman, they were afraid that he would do something unexpected which would come to bite them in the ass. So, they planned to convince the German officers to stage a coup. Unfortunately, Hitler knew this. Hitler wanted to have the last laugh. He planned to use the artifact in Berlin itself. He wanted to convert the people living in Berlin and the allied forces surrounding it to undead. Thankfully, Hitler's wife came to know of this and informed the German officials. Hitler was apprehended but he killed himself by eating cynide. The Germans fearing that the allied powers might use the artifact against them in order to give them a taste of their own medicine, destroyed the artifact. They destroyed it so thoughly that no even dust remained."
Alexander, " What happened to the artifact which the allied had?"
Eve, " The French destroyed it."
Alexander, " Why?"
Eve continued, " It was Britain which had the possession of the artifact. Now, after the war was over, the question was raised, what will happen to the artifact? Who will control it? Now, all the allied powers hold on their colonies has significantly weakened due to this war. Britain seeked to regain control over their colonies with the help of this artifact. Now, the allied powers were against this, they wanted to form a council who will govern the usage of this artifact and any other found in future will come under the purview of this council. France didn't believe in this. They believed that it will fail like The League of Nations. So, France ordered it's destruction. Britain did not expect this, they thought that someone would try to steal the artifact but they didn't expect someone to destroy such a powerful and useful artifact. The French, despite being heavily guarded, somehow managed to reach it and destroy it. We don't know how it happened. The artifact was charged and when they destroyed it, it released all the energy stored in it. The blast destroyed the facility and 10 miles of forest around it. Britain blamed France and demanded compensation but French expertly denied any involvement."
Alexander, " How do you know all this? How that artifact looked like? Do you think that some other countries or the allied powers themselves have more of these artifacts?"
Eve, "I was the main consultant for deciphering anything they didn't understand. O'Connell and I was given training to protect ourselves. We also participated in some covert operations aimned at stopping the Germans from getting information about ancient sites. The head of the department responsible for searching of artifact was my fan so he told us all this and we have other sources also. But he died in an assassination done by the axis powers. We don't know if the allied powers have any other such artifacts. But we do know that except for the allied powers and America, nobody else have managed to gather a single clue about such artifacts. The allied powers had hoarded almost every information about such artifacts."
Alexander asked, " How much time and preparation does it takes to use an artifact?"
Eve, " It depends on the artifact itself. But at least few minutes are required to use an artifact."
Alexander, " When you read the Book of Dead and Book of Life during your encounter with that Egyptian priest, how much time did you take?"
Eve, " It took me at least 2 minutes to read the books but that was because I was fluent in the language. How do you about it, your majesty?"
Alexander, " I have my ways. Tell me, are they still searching for the artifacts? Do the general public know anything?"
Eve, " No, they are not actively searching for the artifacts. The general public don't know anything about all this."
Alexander pondered all this new information and thought, " All these things will make my invasion difficult but I will face bigger challenges in the future." Alexander said to the O'Connell couple, " You can go now. "
The O'Connells nodded and were carried back.
Alexander mentally contacted Zi Yuan and asked her a question. After knowing the answer, Alexander fell in deep thought and started forming new invasion plans. Soon, Alexander deviously smiled and said, " Now, this idea can work. If not then, a war will be fought. I hope it does not come to that as it would decrease the number of my future subjects by a few million at least."
