The man stopped in his tracks and gave her a cold glance: "We were alone together, what do you think I could have done?"

Tilly was furious: "Can you control your desires for once?!"

Trenton's eyes grew even colder, "Tilly Flower, you don't need to concern yourself with what happens between me and her." He shook off her hand and continued, "I haven't even asked you yet — I asked you to take care of her for me, is this how you do it, by bringing her to Rufus Swallow's bed?"

Tilly's breath caught, and her expression darkened. "I only promised to help you take care of Norris Moore, but who she wants to be with is none of my business," she stared at him, "or yours."

Trenton slowly let out a laugh, the icy glint in his dark eyes growing colder. "It's not my business," he looked at Tilly, "then whose is it?"
