RUBY ROSE POV

"Oh, my bed I've missed you!" she shouted and jumped on her bed, basking in it's softness and cuddling with her warm blanket.

After staying in a treehouse and sleeping on its wooden floor for a whole week, even sleeping in a decent bed seemed like a luxury.

She was never going to take her bed for granted.

"Don't be so loud Ruby!" Weiss chastised.

She pouted at her partner and then giggled as Weiss fell face first on her bed and let out a satisfied groan.

To see the prim and proper Weiss acting like this was funny. It was a pity that she didn't record this moment.

She turned to look at Jaune and Pyrrha. Jaune was sitting on the bed with his back to the bed rest while Pyrrha was hugging his chest. Pyrrha looked content in his arms and she was reminded of her childhood when her dad used to hold her and Yang and tell them stories while they slept.

If she knew that Jaune and Pyrrha had been this close at the start of the term then she would've felt awkward and embarrassed but by this point, she was used to how close they were and didn't mind.

"Jaune." She said.

"Hmm." Her team leader replied.

"When would we go to our next mission?" she asked. Because while exterminating Grimm and living in a treehouse was a boring task, she knew that she was making a difference and helping the world by doing it.

And she wanted to do it again.

"The Vytal Tournament is about to begin in a few days so not anytime soon Ruby." He said "With how good our team is, I have no doubt that we'll go till the finals. Which means that we'll have to wait till the end to go to another mission."

"Ohh… okay." She said. She was a little sad that she won't be able to contribute to the safety of Vale anymore but fighting in a tournament was exciting as well.

She knew that she had grown super strong in the past few months thanks to Pyrrha's training. The only ones in her class who could give her a challenge were her teammates and Yang.

But she also wanted to see how she would fare against the Hunters from the other kingdoms.

She cuddled with her pillow and dreamed of defeating her opponents in the arena with her trusted Crescent Rose.

JAMES IRONWOOD POV

"How is the work with the CCT terminal progressing?" he asked as he stared out of the window of the temporary office he had been given in Beacon.

"Progress is slow sir. Our engineers are just not specialized for this kind of thing." Winter replied, "But 2 out of the 11 systems should be functional before the end of the Vytal Tournament."

He nodded, not happy with the situation as without the CCT System, communicating with Atlas has become much harder.

It was a good thing that he brought so many of his Airships and newer models of Atlesian Knights.

Ozpin and Glynda had not been happy with him when he first arrived at Beacon but time and the unfortunate circumstances proved that taking precaution was the right thing.

Without his military aid, the Vale would be in a much worse situation than it currently is.

He could easily remember three different instances over the past few weeks where the Grimm horde would've overwhelmed the City defenders at the walls if not for the support of his Knights, Paladins, and Airships.

"And what about the situation at the Walls?"

"The number of Grimm attacks has decreased since the situation in Vale has calmed down over the past two weeks, sir. Though I personally find it strange that we haven't suffered any attacks from the older and more powerful Grimm."

He nodded, wondering if he should tell her or not. Then he realized that hiding things from his subordinates for no reason was something that Ozpin would do and decided to tell her. "That's because someone has been hunting those Grimm."

"Pardon, sir?"

"You heard me." He said and turned to look at Winter "The number of Older and powerful Grimm around Vale has seen a significant decrease in the past few weeks."

Winter looked shocked at his words.

"But… who would have the manpower and resources to fight those Grimm? Especially now when we need all the help we can get at the walls."

"I have my own theories. But no way to confirm them." He said once again going through the same dilemma of keeping things from his subordinates for operational security or putting some trust in them. And once again, he chose to put his trust in Winter "If my guess is right then this is the work of the Night Walkers."

"I'm afraid I don't know enough about this group sir."

He nodded and opened one of his secret cabinets. He took out a file with 'Top Secret' written on it and gave it to her.

"What's written in this file should not reach the ears of anyone outside this room." He said, his voice grave to show just how serious he was.

Winter instantly went on attention and gave him a nod "I'll not break your trust, sir."

He nodded and gestured for her to open it.

But before she could, she saw something outside the window behind him and her eyes widened "Behind you Si—"

CRASHH!!!

The window behind him shattered open and he felt something hit him on the shoulder at high velocity.

He went flying and crashed against the wall while Winter quickly took out her weapon and moved in front of him to cover him from any threats.

He took out his handgun and went on a defensive stance, bracing for the next attack.

They stayed like that for a short while until they heard footsteps outside and then the door of his office was kicked in as the other Atlas Specialists entered his office to check for any threats.

They found none.

Instead, one of his subordinates brought him a steel arrow.

There was a letter attached to the arrow.

He moved out of his office and found a secluded place before carefully reading the letter.

'James Ironwood, Artur Watts is alive. He has created a virus to break through your ship's electronic defenses and turn your Atlesian Knights, Paladins, and ships against you and Vale. Be careful. -A concerned friend.'

He clutched the paper and secured it in one of his inner pockets.

"Sir. May I ask who sent that letter?" Winter asked and he could feel the anger in her voice at the presumptive assassination attack.

"I'll tell you later Winter. For now, I need to have a meeting with Ozpin. Take care of my office till then. Let no one aside from you enter it."

She nodded and he quickly walked away, wondering about the implications in that letter.

He wasn't sure if he could believe that Arthur Watts is alive.

But if he and he has indeed managed to create such a virus then…

It's a good thing that he got this letter even if its method of delivery was a bit too dramatic for his liking.
