章節 88: Chapter 87: Collapse

After speaking with Kouta, Akira headed to his classroom, picked up his bag, and left.

Once he exited the classroom, he paused, retrieved his phone, and sent a message to Asuna informing her of his departure, letting the school know, and instructing her to keep his wallet away from Takashi upon her return.

"Damn it, it's been a while since I've felt this weak," Akira muttered angrily.

_

Fujimi High School rooftop.

"What's wrong with Asuna?" Yuriko inquired upon noticing Asuna anxiously glancing at her phone.

"It seems Akira is feeling tired, which is why he left early," Asuna replied, her concern evident.

"Come to think of it, his face has been pale since morning and he looks tired," Ray recalled Akira's unusually pale face earlier.

"True, his face was even paler than usual today," Yuriko remembered Akira's unusually pale complexion.

"I wonder if something happened to him," Kana murmured, displaying worry for Akira.

At that moment, the rooftop door swung open, revealing Takashi carrying everyone's lunch.

"Akira, you jerk, where did you go..." Takashi shouted in anger, then realized Akira wasn't there, "Where's Akira? Didn't he come here?"

"It seems he's tired and went home," Hisashi responded, going to Takashi's aid in carrying the food.

"Excuse me, Komuro-san, can I have Akira's wallet?" Asuna asked, disregarding the food.

"Sure, here you go," Takashi handed over Akira's wallet to Asuna.

"Excuse me, Takagi-san, Nanase-san, can you let the teacher know that Akiya and I are leaving early?" Asuna directed her request to Yuriko and Kana.

"Leave it to me," Yoriko nodded, unfazed, "I'll also come to visit you after school."

"If you need anything, call me," Kana added, her concern for Akira evident.

"Thank you both," Asuna said and rushed to her classroom to retrieve her bag and catch up with Akira.

It didn't take long for Asuna to reach the classroom, grab her bag, and hurry out.

After grabbing her bag, she pulled out her phone and dialed Akira's number.

"He's not answering," Asuna frowned as Akira didn't pick up the call.

Undeterred, Asuna continued to call repeatedly.

"H-hello..." Akira weakly responded.

"Are you okay, Akira?!" Asuna's voice showed clear concern upon hearing Akira's weak tone.

"A-asuna..." Akira managed to say before a thud interrupted him.

"Akira!! Are you okay?" Asuna exclaimed in worry and hastened to leave the school.

_

After collecting his bag, Akira walked out of the school unsteadily, appearing as though he might collapse at any moment.

"I feel sick," Akira murmured, struggling to hold back the urge to vomit due to the spinning sensation.

In truth, Akira hadn't expected his condition to deteriorate this badly.

"Are you alright, young man?" an elderly lady asked gently as she observed Akira staggering along.

"I'm fine, Grandma, just a bit tired," Akira replied, mustering a faint smile for the kindly old lady.

"I know you're young and eager to play, but you must take care of your health," the old lady sighed helplessly, recognizing the recklessness of youth these days.

"Thank you for your concern, Grandma. I'll take better care of myself from now on," Akira promised and quickly walked away, his consciousness starting to blur.

"It's unfortunate my consciousness is fading," Akira mumbled, leaning against a roadside tree.

"Annoying..." Akira muttered as his phone rang, but he ignored it.

Akira opened his bag, searching for a water bottle, but found none.

"I'll just see who's calling," Akira mumbled, visualizing his phone in his hand.

The phone materialized, and he quickly answered the call as his consciousness continued to fade.

"Hello..." Akira weakly replied, his vision quickly fading to black.

"Are you okay, Akira?!" Asuna's worried voice came from the other end of the phone.

"A-asuna..." Akira managed to say before his vision faded completely, and he lost consciousness.

"Akira!! Are you okay?" Asuna shouted worriedly, but unfortunately, Akira couldn't hear her.

Seeing Akira lose consciousness, bystanders rushed to assist him and called an ambulance, while others simply stood by watching.

_

Unknown location.

"... " Akira's eyes fluttered open, greeted by a breathtaking sight.

Upon awakening, he found himself beneath a starry night sky. Strangely, a massive throne adorned the stars, with a simple golden crown floating above it.

Among the stars, he discerned the outline of a mysterious dragon that seemed intent on consuming everything.

Akira didn't know why, but that was the impression he got from the enigmatic dragon's image.

"Are you awake?" a gentle voice and a tender touch on his hair reached Akira's senses.

"Who are you?" Akira inquired, turning his gaze to the source of the voice—a woman offering him a comforting lap.

Seeing the woman, Akira felt a sense of familiarity, but he couldn't place where he'd encountered her.

The woman was beautiful, with raven-black hair, emerald green eyes, fair and radiant skin, and a well-endowed figure.

"You'll know my name later," the woman responded, her touch soothing as she continued to stroke his hair.

"So, where am I?" Akira questioned, sitting up from her lap and noticing he was in an old-fashioned Japanese-style house with a small fish pond nearby.

"You're in your spiritual world, or your sea of knowledge—call it what you will," the woman replied, sounding slightly offended by Akira's awakening.

"Then you're my zanpakutou spirit," Akira deduced, standing up and scrutinizing the woman.

"Bingo," the woman confirmed, almost as tall as Akira.

"What's that?" Akira asked, gesturing toward the sky.

"Your spiritual world's sky," the beautiful woman answered, looking at Akira with a puzzled expression.

"Tch, if you're not going to give me a straight answer," Akira clicked his tongue, annoyed that his zanpakutou spirit was acting cryptic.

"Sound of waves," Akira murmured, and without hesitation, he gracefully jumped onto a nearby wall.

In his Spiritual Realm, he seemed to possess his full strength, effortlessly leaping over a 3-meter wall.

Before him lay not a serene blue sea, but rather a crimson sea.

"Blood," Akira whispered, awe-struck by the sea of blood. He hadn't even noticed the absence of its scent until he saw the vivid expanse.

"Does this sight trigger memories from the past?" the beautiful woman inquired, appearing next to Akira.

"Somewhat," Akira replied, gazing at the sea of blood that reminded him of the time he had served as a soldier for the federation, fighting world armies.

"Looks like the time has come," the woman noted, observing Akira's form becoming transparent.

"..."

Seeing his body fading away, Akira glanced back at the house and spotted a village resembling the Edo period on the other side.

"Take care," were the last words Akira heard before he vanished from his spiritual world.
