WARNING! - |Failure to complete the Quest will result in permanent loss of something important to the Host. You will lose what makes you a man!|
"No matter how many times I see this Daily Quest, I still can't understand how this is supposed to be a feature of a shitty system calling itself the 'Idle Evolution System,'" lamented a young black-haired man with a completely average appearance and physique.
COCKADOODLEDOOOOO!!!!
Suddenly hearing a blaring noise from off to the side, he flashed his hand and hit his annoying alarm clock.
BAM!
The antique alarm clock smashed through the wooden bedside table and splintered the wood. However, as this had recently become something commonplace for the young man, he groggily rubbed his eyes before grabbing the battered alarm clock. He placed it on a part of the bedside table that wasn't riddled with a large dent, which left him with just one spot to nestle the clock on.
After dealing with his sturdy alarm clock, the young man stretched out his arms before rising off his cotton bed. He walked toward a body-sized mirror leaning up against a wall, upon which he viewed his appearance. Through its reflection, he could see that his muscles were slightly more defined today, and his appearance had just passed into the 'average' threshold, but overall, he was just barely the same as most other people.
"Still, it is far better than how I looked before acquiring the Idle Evolution System in that 'small' incident…"
The young man recalled the first moment he came into contact with the mysterious entity calling itself a system. It happened the afternoon of the school year's end, signifying that he had left his status as a Junior in highschool. His school life was shit due to various reasons, but that was a matter for another time.
To figure out how Cassius, the young man, first encountered the ethereal Idle Evolution System, one would need to retrace his steps one by one back to ten days ago…
He was minding his own business, casually admiring the impressive architecture of his school's main building—appreciating the view in more ways than one. That was, until a massive white truck burst through the brick wall, catching him red-handed in his "appreciative study" of the 'scenery'.
His intentions were entirely innocent, really! He was simply savoring one last glimpse of the lively energy radiating from his fellow classmates before summer break began. Unfortunately, Truck-kun couldn't find a f*ck to give about his virtuous ogling. With zero hesitation, it barreled through, flipping his world upside down—and knocking him out cold in the process.
However, when Cassius awoke, he had not taken the usual route and traveled to a fantastical world. No, he was still out in the countryside of Japan, in his small hometown of Hoshito.
The first thing he did after confirming that he was not in another world was to see if he had gone back in time, but he was disappointed to find himself looking like his usual tub of lard self. Moreover, he even had the same extreme case of hypothyroidism, which prevented him from losing weight. No matter how much he exercised or dieted, that fact never changed.
Yet there was something different this time around. Cassius was neither sent to another world nor sent back in time to rewrite his shitty past, but something had definitely changed…
"Is that a flying person…??? What the fuck…"
What the fuck was an understatement. In Cassius's previous timeline, everyone was completely ordinary, with no special abilities or superpower-like traits to speak of. But in this timeline, at the same point in time as before, there were people in the world known as 'Hunters'. And just like superheroes, they fought the forces of evil that originated from the 'Gates' that appeared 100 years ago.
Of course, they couldn't give half a damn about justice, but the Hunter profession was an extremely lucrative one as long as you were strong enough. Therefore, billions of people all aspired to be like Hunters, who awakened with special abilities and a set-in-stone power level, which they used to protect the world from the vicious monsters in the Gates.
As he immediately became curious about the 'Hunters,' Cassius scooped around after understanding his situation. He hoped to find himself as someone with a unique ability and stats, but since he couldn't figure out how to test if he had them, he asked around among the three other people who lived in his house with him. His father, who was currently out on business; his stepmother, who glowered at him every time he walked by; and then his similarly-aged stepsister, who had sniggered at his ugly appearance and grotesque body with her friends on her smartphone.
Though, when it came to his stepmother, it almost felt like she tried to say something friendly, yet couldn't when it really came down to it. Of course, this feeling was really stretching it, as he had no idea if that was actually the case.
On a side note, Cassius was receiving more and more memories of this version of him with each passing second. And from what he had obtained so far, virtually everyone around him disdained the very air he breathed. It was basically the same as his past life, with the only difference being the potential to become powerful if he awakened as a Hunter. But when he asked his stepsister, who made fun of him while answering, he learned that he had already passed the maximum awakening age. Moreover, he had not previously awakened, which meant…
He was trash.
In his deep morass of depression, Cassius figured it would probably just be for the best if he bid farewell to the world and found another white truck to hit him. He decided this isekai to be a shit-tier level game, so a redo was in order!
However, before he could commit suicide by truck and really pass into the afterlife, a blue illusory screen suddenly flashed in front of him as he was struggling to fit his fat rolls through his bedroom window.
It looked like:

[Name: Idle Evolution System]
[Host: Cassius] - [Lvl 1]
[Title: Calorie Chaser (F)]
______________________________
[HP: 100] [MP: 100]
[FATIGUE: 0] [AP: 0]

[STRENGTH: 3] (Little kids are stronger)
[AGILITY: 2] (Even Grandma's can outrun you)
[ENDURANCE: 2] (You would collapse within 3 seconds of warming a lady's bed)
[INTELLIGENCE: 4] (Your only redeeming quality. Still below average)
[PERCEPTION: 2] (At this point, someone could aim a gun straight at you and give you ten seconds to dodge, but you would still get hit)
[CHARISMA: 1] (This is just… sad. You're so ugly that goblins have better aesthetics.)

Cassius: "...."
It was at that moment that he learned that the Idle Evolution System was a complete… asshole! It even gave him a useless Title that was only there to remind him of how much fat was present in his body!
And then, out of nowhere, it hit him with a system notification, but added:
*Ding~!*
[Since the Host lacks character development, it is time to build character!]
[For the next 3 months, the Host is required to complete the 'Daily Quest,' and for every day missed, the punishment for failure increases.]
[Punishment for first failure: Pain]
"Pain?" Cassius inquired with a raised brow. "I'm sure it can't be that bad, at least not as bad as running with this body of mine… Damn, I really despise exercise… It's so unfair for people like me."
After bemoaning his fate as a forever overweight fatso, Cassius let a full twenty-four hours pass. The first day of the Daily Quest ended in failure, with him having played games and read manga the entire day. However, he quickly came to regret not even attempting to complete the quest; the pain hit him like a freight train…
He was left convulsing on his bedroom floor while hollering out in excruciating agony. Luckily, no one other than him was home, so he saved himself some embarrassment.
After experiencing 60 seconds of that soul-wrenching pain, Cassius promised himself to never skimp out on anything ever again. And that turned out to be an excellent decision, because the next punishment was one that would take away his crown jewels and his holy Excalibur.
"The Idle Evolution System really is a bastard…"
Yet, even though that was the case, he still worked on completing the Daily Quests. At first, it was extremely difficult to even do a single push-up and run for more than ten seconds, but after an entire day of struggling and sweating, Cassius finally completed his first Daily Quest.
*Ding~!*
[You have completed Daily Quest #2]
[You obtained 1 Point in Agility and 1 Point in Endurance!]
*Thud!*
He collapsed to the ground right after this pop-up appeared, with his physical body having long since reached its limits. He only woke up more than six hours later and received a series of reprimands from his stepmother upon returning home. But with little leeway to begin getting frustrated over how he was being treated, another Daily Quest appeared. Then it was time for more suffering…
Fortunately, it was a bit easier to complete the Quest this time around, which greatly pleased Cassius. Still, it was a tough struggle with his mental and physical fortitude that rolled over past the second day and into the rest of the two-week period, which led us back to the present.
It was also on this day, after rolling out of bed and brushing his teeth, that Cassius received a system notification that truly showed what the Idle Evolution System could do if he kept on advancing.

...
Just a heads up—This book will be free for the next nearly two months. I have around 80 chapters written already, and am writing a few each day, but I am waiting to seriously post when the WSA begins.
Anywho, I hope everyone is ready for an absolutely crazy power system and plot. Don't tell me I didn't warn you of the plots to come beforehand!
