Chapter 61: Save Me
The blue-haired delinquent clearly remembered that when he tried to get off the bus through the front door, an invisible barrier blocked his way. No matter how much he struggled or pushed, he couldn't step outside.
In the few minutes that followed, he realized that this Bus No. 18 had special rules.
He might be a delinquent, but he was not stupid. If he couldn't exit through the front door, maybe he could use the back door!
As he thought, the middle-aged man and the young guy sitting on the left side also came to the same conclusion: this dangerous and terrifying bus was a place they didn't want to stay on any longer.
They just wanted to get off, to leave immediately. That was the only thought in their heads.
With the bus stopping, the back door opened, and the young guy immediately stood up and rushed toward the exit. The middle-aged man quickly followed, and then came the yellow-haired delinquent.
But because of the seating arrangement, a strange being closer to the door stood up first and blocked their path.
The young guy shuddered, hoping the strange being would move faster.
Tap...
Tap...
The strange being walked at a slow, deliberate pace, causing the young guy and his companions to silently curse, but none of them dared to speak or make any moves, fearing the strange being's wrath.
Ren Nanase watched their reactions, feeling extremely anxious. She realized this was a chance to get off the bus, but since she was sitting on the inside, it would be difficult for her to leave without Lin Ye standing up and letting her out.
Ren Nanase shook her head and gestured toward the back door, her eyes filled with urgency.
"Slap!"
Time stopped.
During the moment the bus was parked, the lights inside brightened slightly.
Lin Ye immediately focused his attention on the route map on the bus.
During the journey, everything had been pitch black, and they couldn't see anything. But now, the route map had appeared.
The first stop was lit up.
The words were unintelligible, but the second and third stops followed with equally cryptic text. However, the fourth stop, "Chiba Station," was clearly visible, almost as if it was trying to tell them something.
The first three stops weren't in the human world. Anyone who got off at those stops would surely die.
Lin Ye returned to his seat, released time stop, and placed a hand gently on Ren Nanase's shoulder, applying slight pressure as he spoke.
"This isn't our stop."
He pointed to the route map.
"Getting off here will get you killed."
The strange being in the front had already exited. After hearing Lin Ye's warning, the young man behind him hesitated for a moment, unsure of whether to continue.
The opportunity to leave the bus was right there. Should he let it pass?
But this man seemed smart. It was Lin Ye's reminder earlier that saved them from dying, so... he decided to trust Lin Ye this time.
Just as he was about to turn and leave through the back door, the middle-aged man squeezed past him.
"What?"
The young man turned to see that the blue-haired delinquent had lost his balance, being pushed by a strange entity that had followed behind.
The strange being wanted to exit but was blocked by the three of them. Losing patience, it forcefully pushed its way through.
"Slap!"
The young man stumbled and fell toward the bus doors.
"Damn it!"
He was horrified as he grabbed onto the handrail, but half of his body was already hanging outside.
Lin Ye reacted a moment too late, but he still used time stop to try and pull the young man back.
If the young man had chosen to exit on his own, Lin Ye wouldn't have stopped him. But since the young man was willing to listen, he didn't mind giving him a hand.
However...
"Safe travels."
Lin Ye said with regret.
He tried to pull the young man back, but no matter how much force he used, the young man's body seemed to be trapped by an invisible force, unable to move back onto the bus.
Outside, the darkness was overwhelming, like an abyss that swallowed everything.
Lin Ye returned to his seat.
Time stop was lifted again.
"Ah!"
"Help me...!"
The young man was still struggling, desperately calling out for help from the middle-aged man and the blue-haired delinquent. Finally, he turned his gaze to Lin Ye.
"Save me...!"
Lin Ye gently shook his head, signaling that there was nothing he could do.
Clang...
In an instant, the young man fell out of the bus, his body swallowed by the darkness.
Another strange being, stepping on the bodies of the blue-haired delinquent and the middle-aged man, swiftly exited the bus.
"Ahhh!"
In less than three seconds, a horrified scream echoed from outside the bus.
That scream... was the young man's!
He was dead. It sounded like he had been... eaten alive!
The blue-haired delinquent and the middle-aged man quickly crawled back to their seats, moving faster than they ever had before. Cold sweat drenched their foreheads and backs, and their legs trembled uncontrollably.
If, if they hadn't listened to Lin Ye's warning, they would have gotten off the bus too!
They felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude, especially the blue-haired delinquent, who had previously picked a fight with Lin Ye. Now, Lin Ye had repaid him with kindness, and he was deeply moved.
Ren Nanase, after narrowly escaping death once again, felt incredibly fortunate.
After a long while, Ren Nanase realized that she had unknowingly wrapped her arms tightly around Lin Ye's left arm. His solid arm gave her an unimaginable sense of safety.
She slowly straightened up, pulled her hands back, and a faint blush appeared on her face, making her look incredibly cute.
"Thank you," she whispered softly.
Lin Ye handed her his phone, the screen displaying: "Not sincere."
Ren Nanase blinked and met his gaze. She recalled Lin Ye's earlier words, "You're cute." An idea suddenly popped into her head.
She lowered her head.
Lin Ye shrugged.
By now, no one else was trying to get off.
"Please take your seats, the bus will be departing soon."
The back door slammed shut.
Then, a figure appeared at the front door. The man was trembling as he slowly stepped onto the bus.
All eyes instinctively turned toward him.
His hair was messy, and his face was barely visible, but his blue leisure clothes were torn to shreds, covered in dust and a mixture of black and red liquid.
Tap...
Tap...
He moved slowly, step by step, making his way to the back of the bus, his dark eyes scanning the surroundings.
"It hurts..."
"It's torn..."
He muttered to himself.
The blue-haired delinquent and the middle-aged man sneaked a glance and immediately saw the ghastly state of his abdomen, where the flesh was mangled beyond recognition. Their hearts raced, and their bodies trembled in fear.
"Don't come near us, please..."
They prayed desperately.
Especially the middle-aged man, who was now terrified. Since he was sitting in the double seat, after the young man had died, the seat beside him was empty.
