"Who are you?" Arthur asked.
"Huh? I am you" I replied.
"But you don't look like me."
"Our appearances might be different, but we are the same."
"No, it's not just the appearance. Your soul... it's changed."
"I may have changed, but that's normal. After all, the only constant is change itself. Anyway, I'm not comfortable enough to chat with you right now," I said, looking anxiously at the door I came through.
"What's the matter?" Arthur asked.
"There is a demon that wants to kill me, or rather us," I said.
Arthur's eyes widened, and with astonishment in his voice, he asked, "A demon? What do you mean?"
"It's a long story," I said, taking another step toward the door. "But we're not safe here right now. Can you help me?"
"How can I help you?" Arthur asked, confused.
"I don't know. I'm just hoping for a miracle like in those fantastic stories, but I guess that's not going to happen."
Sweat started to run down my back, and I took a deep breath to calm myself.
I placed my hand on the mirror and wiped the sweat off my forehead. At that moment, I felt something and saw Arthur's hand placed on top of mine in the mirror.
I was stunned by the sensation of feeling Arthur on the other side of the mirror. When I looked at Arthur, I noticed he was equally surprised.
"Did you feel that too?"
"Yes..."
I placed my other hand on the mirror and Arthur, realizing my intention, raised his other hand. As our other hands touched, I felt it again and an idea came to me. .
"Have you ever tried to come out of the mirror?"
Arthur frowned, but there was a glint of curiosity in his eyes. "Coming out of the mirror? No, I've never even thought about it. How could that be possible?"
"I'm not exactly sure," I said. "But right now, it seems like we have no other choice. If this demon is really after us, we need to find a way out of here."
Arthur took a deep breath while looking at me from the other side of the mirror. "Okay, how do we do this?"
"We can use the connection we felt when we put our hands on the mirror," I said. "Maybe this connection can get us out of here."
Arthur nodded, and determination appeared in his eyes. "It's worth a try. What do I need to do?"
"Hold my hand, and I'll hold yours. I'll try to pull you out from there," I said.
Arthur nodded hesitantly but resolutely. On the other side of the mirror, Ethan tightly clasped Arthur's hand. The joined hands on the icy surface of the mirror allowed them to feel the strange bond between them. "If something goes wrong," Ethan warned, "let go immediately and pull back. Agreed?"
"Agreed" said Arthur. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and tried to focus. He felt the connection through their hands, as if a force beyond the mirror was pulling them together. He began to sense the energy; a tremor, a vibration. A faint glow appeared on the surface of the mirror, and a warmth spread from the point where their hands met. "Focus on the mirror" I said, my voice low but determined.
"Believe that it can get us out of here." Arthur listened to Ethan's words, took a deep breath, and focused on the mirror's surface. The warmth intensified, the glow on the mirror's surface grew stronger, and for a moment, everything around them blurred. Ethan and Arthur felt as if they were being pulled to a single point from two different worlds.
At that moment, when I opened my eyes, I realized with fear that I was in a different place. A shiver ran up my spine, and I was shocked by the sight before me. There was an object in front of me that resembled a massive black hole, and its inside seemed to embody the essence of nothingness. Just a few seconds later, an eye appeared in the center of the black hole, and when its eyelids opened, there was a darkest pupil.
Fresh eyes opened within the eye, and within a few seconds, an uncountable number of eyes were looking at me from within this singular eye. I had no clue about the incredible entity in front of me, and it was certain that it was a being beyond human boundaries.
In the following seconds, the eye closed as if it had satisfied its curiosity about me and disappeared into the darkness. Without a doubt, this was the strangest and most interesting event I had ever experienced. As I was pondering what had just happened, my body was suddenly pulled somewhere, and it felt as if I passed through a portal.
A few seconds later, I was back in the room I had just been in, and it felt like I had experienced an energy burst throughout my body. As my body continued to tremble, I opened my eyes, looked in the mirror, and noticed that the mirror disappeared a few seconds later. There was no trace of Arthur around, and when I looked at my body, I saw no difference in my appearance.
I had no idea what had just happened, nor did I understand the strange feeling I was experiencing. However, I could sense that something had changed, but I couldn't figure out what it was. As I was lost in thought, I suddenly noticed that the dark room around me was slowly disappearing, and I was horrified.
I began to ponder the nature of the change that had just occurred in my soul and came up with a few guesses. However, I wasn't sure about any of them. When the place I was in finally disappeared, I found myself facing Anaxor, who was standing in all his glory and smiling.
However, Anaxor suddenly squinted his eyes and looked at me more carefully, and I could feel sweat trickling down my back. Anaxor was looking at me as if he had seen something interesting, and his smile widened.
"Two souls? You are more interesting than I thought, kid. And know that the number of people I find interesting does not exceed the fingers on one hand."
When I heard his words, my eyebrows furrowed involuntarily. I had a rough idea of what he meant, but I wasn't sure.
"What do you mean? Wasn't I already Arthur?" I asked with a questioning look.
"Both yes and no. Honestly, even I don't fully understand the secrets of souls, but you weren't exactly Arthur. You were a part of his soul," he said.
I remained silent in the face of what he said, trying to digest his words. I continued to ponder until Anaxor, with his arrogant smirk, spoke again.
"But now, you have merged with Arthur's soul, and thus, your soul is twice as strong as it was," he said.
When he said that, I smiled mischievously and realized something.
"So, does that mean I'm now twice as strong as you?" I asked.
"Yes," he said, but his still smile and still unnerved me a little.
"Then, can I defeat you?" I asked.
"You can try," he said with an arrogant look and added, "But I have an offer for you, and this new offer benefits both of us."
"Would you be offended if I wanted to test my power before hearing the terms of your offer?" I asked.
After all, I didn't know if Anaxor was trying to manipulate me, and perhaps he had come to me with a new offer because he was afraid of my new power. Although I didn't know the content of the offer, I was sure that Anaxor wanted something, and that was something I didn't want. After all, who wants a demon to have a say in their life's decisions?
"COME!" said Anaxor. His deep voice echoed, and he opened his arms invitingly.
