Upon hearing John's words, the High Priest's expression began to change subtly.
After all, what John said was indeed true: their runes could enhance their resistance against magical beasts, but they had never been able to control such creatures.
This implied that John possessed some power unknown to them.
If such a person were a friend, there would likely be no danger at all.
But as an enemy, the story would be quite different.
"How do you prove that you are a messenger of the gods?" the High Priest asked again.
John simply smiled lightly, his expression nonchalant.
"Isn't the fact that I possess powers beyond your control proof enough?" he replied.
The High Priest remained silent, yet his mind was already racing with thoughts, as John's power was indeed beyond anything they had anticipated.
Fire and Wind had just returned with him, and now, seeing John standing outside the door, they felt increasingly anxious.
