The whole mess hall was at a turmoil as the men started to gossip amongst themselves about the earlier bout of Lupus and the soldier.
The news quickly spread like a wildfire as Lupus earned the nickname of The Battle Master just from that simple and quick bout.
This nickname however wasn't official and was just those sort of weird nicknames your friends or family members gives you.
Many tried to approached Lupus but his demeanor and the men on the squad with him further pushed away anyone trying to befriend him.
The group of Lupus sat down on a lonely table with enough space for the 10 of them to sit down and eat comfortably.
They brought down the wooden bowls filled with what looked like was soup and a piece of bread each as they started to eat.
The man presumably the oldest on the squad of Lupus raised a conversation related to their next move in controlling everything from the shadows.
"Lupus, you should take up the offer. We need you in that position as people will be more receptive of you due to your skill. We must take advantage of their stupidity!" said the oldest man in group.
"I agree, we need to immediately control the military. No one will question who holds the sword." agreed another man from the squad as they started to discuss amongst themselves in low voice.
"We'll see about that later. Anyway, meet me there. We have a lot to beam back to the colony." said Lupus as he quickly ate his meal and fixed himself before going to the office of the general.
None of the surrounding people wanted to disturb the group so they just shutted their mouths and ate silently.
Time slowly passed by and Lupus now was on his way towards the office of the high ranking officer to discuss whatever that man wants to.
The office was on the second floor and was filled with servants and soldiers roaming around it.
He then came in front of the office and after sometime, he was finally given the clearance to enter.
There, he met the high ranking officer with women serving him food as he motioned for the Lupus to sit down after he saluted.
"How much do you want?" the question of the high ranking officer has stunned Lupus who just tried and immediately regained his composure.
"Pardon sir, what do you mean?" asked Lupus as he interpreted the question differently. He wasn't disgusted by any of those things but he's a straight man, he won't try such a thing.
"How much for you to become my bodyguard or possibly personal soldier?" the high ranking officer motioned for a slave to come forward.
The slave was a woman around 22 years old. She has a black hair in a ponytail and a rather dark color of skin, possibly due to the nature of her work which requires her to go out under the sun in extended periods of time.
Her looks are an average woman from Syracuse, not bad, not top notch either. Just totally average.
The slave was wearing an iron collar around her neck and a thin piece of onesie as clothing. She has no footwear or whatsoever. She's just a slave with a collar and a thin piece of clothing.
The woman walked towards the high ranking officer, her hands was trembling due to fear and possibly embarrassment she may or may not feel any moment from now.
"Lupus, as you see, I'm a general under a Roman Consul. I have power, I have sway in the government. I can save you from anything, I have money, women, land, anything you need, I have it. All I need is your allegiance, forget about everything, I want your loyalty for me and my family." said the general as he pushed he slave towards Lupus's direction and picked up a grape from the plate on his table.
The slave tumbled, she hit the table and almost fell down, luckily, Lupus catched her just in time before she fell to the ground.
Lupus wasn't disgusted nor do he feel anything about what the man in front of him did. She's after all, a slave. If he'll measure her worth then she should at least be a Level 4 or possibly Level 5 in the citizen system. However something he can't forgive is him trying to use materials such as money to get his absolute and undying loyalty.
He felt angry, his honor is insulted. The honor he cared since he became a teenager. The honor that he swore to protect only third to the Emperor and humanity.
His facial expression turned sour and angry. The general saw this and lightly laughed as he called the other slave who's serving him to come forward, there, he slapped the slave presumably around the same age as that of the slave currently in Lupus's arm in the face lightly.
"You're angry? You're an interesting man, they're only slaves. Nothing more, nothing less. Consider her as my gift to you for beating my best soldier. Also, I expect you to give your answer tomorrow. Understood?" said the general as he pulled the other slave to his arms and tore her clothes with a simple pull.
"Yes..."
"Very well, get out, I have things to do!"
...
Holy Terra, the Emperor's office...
The atmosphere is normal to anyone who don't know what's the actual matter. But to anyone who knows it will be surely tensed up and if given the choice will just want to die instead of experiencing this almost torture like atmosphere.
"What did you tell? We're on war with the Inorganics?" the Emperor had a confused voice, he doesn't know how and why did this happen. The technopriest said that a retarded subordinate of him did this.
What he did was betrayal of the highest degree. He didn't follow the orders of his superior and it's just right he get executed for this.
But the Emperor needs to know why. It's impossible that this is due to the indoctrination and core tenets of the whole Mechanicum. It's true that he wanted them to be curious as much as possible but this has limitations if it puts the Imperium in danger or in an awkward position.
"This is amusing, Captain General, I want you to create an investigation group on why did this happened. Get to the bottom of this immediately! The Imperium's stability is at stake here. As for the matter of war, the Auxiliary army can deal with it!" said the Emperor after he touched the holographic screen that served his personal computer of some sort.
There, he started to read information about the traitor and he saw about the little get together of curious people.
He then leaned back on his swivel chair and motioned for a Silent Sister to cone forward as he gave her an order.
"I want you to form a team and tail these people on the list. They may or may not be following the rules in place for the education." he slowly pushed a wire connected directly to the port of his computer and started to transfer the information.
"As they say, curiosity kills the cat."
