章節 24: Chapter 24:The Silent Raid

Jason paced outside his home, the weight of his decision heavy on his shoulders. Last night had been tense—his parents, Rayleigh and Shakky, had seen right through his nervousness. Though he had lied about overhearing Fisher Tiger's plan to storm Mariejois and free the slaves, his desire to join the Sun Pirates was real. Rayleigh had been furious, his usual calm demeanor replaced by concern and anger. Shakky had been more restrained but just as worried. They both knew their son was stubborn, but they feared this reckless mission would lead to his death.

Even now, as the early morning sun filtered through the trees, their voices echoed in his mind.

"If you're going to do this, promise us one thing," Rayleigh had said, his face shadowed with worry. "Come back in one piece."

Jason had nodded. But promises could be tricky. He wasn't sure if he could keep it, not with what he was about to attempt. Still, he had to try. This was his chance to prove himself—not just to his parents, but to the world. If he could help free the slaves, he could show the Sun Pirates, Fisher Tiger especially, that he was capable. That he could do some good with the strength he'd been born with.

Jason took a deep breath, clearing his mind. He had no time for doubt. His plan was already in motion.

He spent the day gathering what little intel he could. The slavers had their hands deep in the underbelly of Sabaody, controlling the auction houses and the flow of human—and fish-men—cargo. It was all secretive, of course, but he knew where to find the records. The auction house leaders kept detailed logs of all incoming ships, and if there was any information about when the next slave shipment was arriving, it would be there.

By late afternoon, Jason had everything he needed to make his move. The auction house would be his target, but it had to be done under cover of night. Too many eyes during the day, and the risk of being caught was far too high.

As the sun dipped below the horizon and the streets of Sabaody Archipelago grew darker, Jason prepared. He donned his stealth gear—black clothing that allowed him to blend into the shadows, complete with a hood that concealed his face. He looked like an assassin out of the stories he'd read, a specter in the night. With one last glance at his home, he set off.

The auction house was a grand building, sitting atop Grove 3 like a crown of greed and corruption. The streets around it were quiet, with no one around to witness the upcoming infiltration. Jason moved with precision, his Observation Haki guiding him. He extended his senses, feeling the presence of guards as they patrolled the perimeter. Their movements were predictable, almost lazy. It made his task easier.

With practiced ease, Jason slipped through the shadows, his footsteps silent. He avoided the guards with minimal effort, ducking behind crates and hugging the walls. His Haki painted a mental map of their locations, ensuring he was never seen. As he reached the side of the auction house, he began to scale the outer wall, his body moving like water.

Once inside the second-floor window, he crouched low, scanning the dimly lit hallways. The building was eerily quiet, but Jason remained cautious. He couldn't afford to be careless now. His target was the office on the third floor, where the auction house leader kept all the important records. Information about slave shipments, including the next incoming fish-men, would be there.

He moved quickly, his senses alert. The hallway stretched before him, empty and silent. At the far end, he saw the door to the office, the lock glinting in the faint moonlight that streamed through the windows. He approached, his hand on the hilt of his sword, just in case.

With a swift motion, he picked the lock and slipped inside. The office was just as he expected—lavish but practical, a testament to the wealth of the auction house leader. Jason didn't waste any time admiring the décor. He went straight to the large wooden desk, rifling through drawers and papers.

After a few minutes of searching, he found what he was looking for—a logbook detailing all upcoming shipments. His eyes scanned the pages quickly, flipping through entries of human and fish-men cargo alike. His stomach twisted in disgust as he read the cold, clinical details of lives being traded as commodities.

Then, his eyes landed on the information he needed: a ship carrying three fish-men and two mermaids, set to arrive tomorrow at Grove 12.

Jason's pulse quickened. This was it—the opportunity he'd been waiting for. He memorized the details and closed the logbook, placing everything back where he found it. His plan began to form rapidly in his mind. He would intercept the ship as it docked, eliminate the slavers, and free the slaves before anyone could raise the alarm. Once he had the slaves, he'd deliver them to the Sun Pirates, proving his worth to Fisher Tiger.

Jason left the office just as silently as he had entered, slipping back out into the night. His body moved on autopilot, his mind running through the steps of his plan. Tomorrow, he would strike. He had to be quick, efficient. There would be no room for hesitation.

The streets of Sabaody were even quieter as he made his way back toward his hideout. The moon hung high in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the archipelago. Jason's heart raced with a mixture of excitement and apprehension. He was about to dive headfirst into a mission that could get him killed, but the stakes were too high to back down now.

As he reached his hideout, Jason paused, staring out at the horizon where the sea met the night sky. Tomorrow, he would either succeed and take his first step toward something greater—or he would fail, and the consequences would be dire.

Either way, there was no turning back now.

Jason clenched his fists, determination flooding his veins. The slavers wouldn't know what hit them. By this time tomorrow, he would have proven himself—and nothing would stand in his way.
