章節 10: Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned
Silence.
That was all Mio could hear as Jacob's words played in over in her mind. The music drifted into the distance and her mind blanked.
Unable to think Mio's first response was to remember what Ayase had reminded her.
In a 'break up' situation the best thing was to leave with dignity.
Of course, Mio felt that she had no dignity as she and Jacob were not even courting each other. They were merely bound by a contract, that neither of them agreed to.
Logic dictated that of course, Jacob would not like her but Mio did not care about logic.
She had come here to fulfil an agreement and tried her best to find out more about him. She may have done it for the sole purpose of securing her family's lives. But, she had hoped that he would at least put some effort into making this forced marriage work.
A wave of blinding anger filled her and from underneath the table, she clenched her fists.
" I can see you're shocked. I will still uphold the agreement but I am a person who cannot fake my emotions towards someone-"
Mio stood up, smiling through her teeth she bowed.
" Thank you for being honest with me" and then left.
Mio's heels clacked against the floor and she left. Her breathing was rapid as she tried to hold herself back from exploding and bashing his smug face in.
" Leave with dignity" she muttered like a mantra.
She passed the bodyguard at the door who checked her out. Mio looked up at him her eyes sharp and the bodyguard jumped. On her cute face was a look that suggested she would gobble him up, spit him out and throw him in a meat grinder.
He opened the door for her then looked in the direction of Jacob and shook his head. He had no idea what had transpired between the two, but from his experience with women, Jacob had poked the hornet's nest.
" Poor guy she'll probably smash his car or something" he muttered.....
Mio walked around the town for some time. She debated whether or not she should tell her father about this but decided against it.
" It's fine he doesn't need to like me, as long as he upholds the agreement".
Mio walked to a park and sat alone for a while, feeling that all her effort to become the 'best' woman was all for nought. She got up again, she was going to hail a cab and go back.
While walking on a trail Mio found herself in a deserted place. She had wandered off in her own thoughts and looked around it was still light outside so she didn't feel scared.
Then five men came up to her. They were dressed sloppily and smelled of smoke and beer.
Disgusted, Mio walked away as they hollered at her. Normally she would ignore men like this but she was particularly sensitive and pissed off today.
" She's just another B***h" one man said and Mio whirled around.
" What did you say?" she glowered.
A young man wearing a beanie laughed as they surrounded her.
" Awww she doesn't like that" he taunted and reached out to feel her up.
Mio smirked "oh" and grabbed his hand twisting it to the side.
" Argh!" he cried, one of the men saw this and tried to grab her, but a swift heeled foot connected with his man part.
He screeched and the others then tried to overpower her. Mio dealt with them easily, she did not break any bone but left them with sprained muscles and bruises.
She backhanded one of them in anger.
" You don't like me huh!" she shouted.
" No mistress" one grovelled " We adore you!"
Slap!Slap!Slap!
" I tried so hard and all you say is 'I like all animals'" she mimicked Jacob and continue to beat the five poor souls. They were beaten sober and when Mio was finished she stretched her body.
The five men were sprawled on the floor and Mio looked at one of the men lying at her foot.
" You didn't look up my skirt did you?" she asked in a threatening tone.
The man felt as if he was looking at a demon and firmly believed that demon's all had pretty faces now.
" No no I didn't" he whimpered crawling away.
Mio walked away feeling better, now that all her pent up rage had been exhausted. She was about to hail a cab when she saw Jacob.
He was sitting in the back of black SUV with three others trailing behind. Mio's eyes followed them as they rode off. She narrowed her eyes.
" I'm going to find out what you're up to".
