章節 297: I'm not swimming, I'm riding the water

The journey down the steep incline towards the riverbank took some time.

Not long after leaving the relative smoothness of the dirt road, the ground became uneven and rocky, forcing them to travel far more slowly than they had during their earlier ride.

The shaking wasn't actually violent, though, and actually served to help Snowball fall asleep in his sling faster.

He laid curled up in the sling against Isabelle's bosom, nestled and kept comfortable while the bumps and shifts in the road rocked the carriage.

That changed once they got into the river, though. The ground on the riverbed was far less friendly.

At one point, the carriage dropped, tilted a little too sharply sideways, and came to a complete stop with a violent rocking motion.

Snowball yowled in alarm.

"Shh, baby..." She soothed the startled kitten, cradling him in his sling. "Everything's alright."

She didn't...know that.
