章節 4: Part 4 - Inviting her back to my place
- CHRIS POV -
"OMG~! Sorry I, I thought you left with the others" Sarah said as she turned to me, stepping around gingerly as she tried to avoid stepping into the wine.
"Oh sorry for startling you" I apologized and rushed to the kitchen to grab some kitchen towels. I returned and helped her mop up the floor and I handed her some serviettes for her wet hands.
"Thank you, I'm so sorry I'm a bit jumpy these days. Work, you know, just so much, and a lot of stress has been attached to that as well" Sarah replied nervously, wiping the wine off her hands and elbow where it had dripped down.
"Happy 25th birthday" I smiled and took the soiled serviettes from her. Sarah smiled wirly and nodded and as I went to the kitchen to throw away the soiled tissues, I heard her sigh a heavy sigh, and I imagined that there was much more than just her work that was weighing down on her.
"I can't believe you told Lavender you were in love with her girlfriend. She looked like she was going to kill you!" She said, when I returned, brandishing the half-empty bottle of wine and my own wine glass
I grinned "Anything to avoid kissing that slob, can you believe she still doesn't believe in brushing her teeth and just gargle salt water?"
Sa sighed and held out her glass for a top up "Yeah and she dumpster dives...which honestly isn't a bad idea when you're broke and homeless... I might join her soon" Sarah said spacing out for a bit " Anyway it's good you didn't, I hear Lily has a mean temper. It would have been a fight with one of the other if you had kissed either of them" Sarah said and turned to look back at her apartment " Oh God, I'm beat. I'm not dealing with what's out there. Are you sleeping over again? I'm sorry…the couch…." Sa said as she took a hefty gulp of her refilled glass.
"Well...that's what I wanted to talk about. Do you need to sleep over at my place this time?" I said and pulled out the eviction notice from my pocket.
Sarah stared at the piece of paper blankly. A slight twitch overtook the corner of her lip. I recognized that twitch. Anger.
