He looked at his reflection in the mirror which had dark circles under its eyes and the whites in its eyes had a lot of red veins that were visible.
"Ah the side effects of the potion really sucks but at least I finished making the game boards.", he muttered as he glanced at the table near him.
Six cubes sat on the table in a neat row while there were a lot of waste materials scattered around the room. The effects of the insomniac drop still lingered as he was unable to fall asleep.
Alex looked at the shelf filled with energy potions as he didn't expect them to be so potent. He only needed one vial of potion to be perfectly productive for more than a day.
"Oh god… so annoying…" he grumbled as he didn't like to abandon everything.
He transfigured the leftover wooden logs into a large box with small compartments and layers before filling it up with the potion vials. Finally, he placed the larger than normal vial filled with insomniac drop before closing it shut.
After shrinking the box of potions along with the game boards, he placed them all in his pocket and walked out. He looked out from the window and saw that it was evening as there were kids doing their quidditch practices while the sky was red.
The first thing he did was to take back the gameboard that was rented for the day and spoke to Aman before he went to Professor Flitwick who was in the staff room.
"Professor, I finished working on the game boards. Could you tell me if the collection system is ready?"
"Oh, yes. I made five of them for you. Four of them are pretty simple as they have a teleportation charm that sends the coins to any set location.
The … what did you call them… ah the player tokens will be shot out from this hole whenever two knuts are placed inside. All we have to do right now is to join the collection system and the boards before we do a bit of tinkering.
We can do it here if you'd like and since I'm free, I'll help you out."
Alex simply nodded before he began telling Flitwick that he needed to teleport the tokens back inside after single use.
"Don't worry about it, Alex. As the head of Ravenclaw house, I promise you that there so many ways we can do it that you can't count them even if you use all your fingers."
"Then I'll leave it to you, professor."
Alex took up the responsibility of joining the collection system and the game board while Flitwick added a few more charms to the whole thing.
The work only took them a few minutes before Flitwick began explaining about the last collection system which had more features.
"This one can do the work for both the game boards that will be placed in the great hall and they have the feature which limits the usage to only two per person.
As per your needs, the recognition system is the student's thumbprint that will be on the wooden token that they will be using to access the game board. They will be able to buy the coins indefinitely but we will also be able to see who uses the board more than once so we will be able to punish them for breaking rules.
I have to say this Alex, you are a genius when it comes to charms and transfiguration. I recon, only Minerva and the headmaster have the capabilities to make something like the cubes which automatically transform into the user."
Alex was surprised at the sudden compliment and was quite surprised to know that his transfiguration skills were so good as he basically had no one to compare himself to and basically didn't see his classmates as a worthy comparison.
"Thank you, professor. If you don't mind, I would like to give this to the headmaster for installation."
"Alright, off you go then." Flitwick said as he walked back to his chair.
A few minutes later, Alex stood in front of the gargoyles.
"…. Minty chews."
The gargoyles noisily moved aside and Alex knocked on the door.
"Come in."
He opened the door when he heard Dumbledore's voice and entered the room.
The headmaster sat on his chair leisurely as he peered through his glasses while Alex directly walked over and placed all the boards on the table.
"Seven boards. These four are for the common rooms. These two are for great hall and this one is for the professors. The game board for the professors is equipped with the best video recorder which can be viewed at any angle.
I hope that the scoreboard is ready to be installed."
Dumbledore nodded slowly before responding, "Thank you Jordan. I hope you know how much of a help this is going to be for the kids. Professor Flitwick already has the scoreboard ready.
You can leave all these here. I'll make sure they will be installed in their respective places by tomorrow."
Alex nodded before leaving the headmaster's office. Dumbledore waited for a few seconds before locking the door and turned his gaze at a wall, which soon turned into Snape.
"What do you think about this kid?" asked the headmaster to which Snape responded with,
"Talented, Ambitious, knowledgeable, creative and shrewd. I feel like it is better to tread carefully when dealing with him."
"That's a lot of praise coming from you, Severus."
Snape didn't respond as he simply stood in his place silently, deep in thought.

Alex sat on his bed and stared at the calendar for few seconds before coming to a conclusion that he didn't know what day it was.
He groaned as his palm slapped his forehead and walked out to ask someone. A fifth year girl told him that there were two more days for Halloween, which seemed to calm him down a bit.
After getting the information he wanted, he walked back to his bed and sat down. He felt the energy in his body draining slowly but he couldn't feel the sleepiness.
To pass time, he took out one of Snape's books and began reading. It wasn't a book about potions but instead, it had contents on the topic of spell creation.
