Rayna's POV
I could hardly get a wink out sleep which was no surprise considering the storm brewing around me. The moment I saw signs of the sun coming up I took a shower, got dressed and got my bags.
The only flight I was able to book wasn't until two days and there was no way I was going to stay in my Dad's house till then. There was no guarantee that lunatic of a lawyer wouldn't come for me here and knowing my Dad he would probably willingly offer me up.
I silently crept down the stairs, trying my best to make as little noise as possible. I stopped at the front door and took one last look around the house, the photographs that hung on the walls and the awards. Of course they were all Vivian's, my stuff always got dumped in the basement.
I didn't belong in this family, for the first time in years the reality of it all was finally setting in. I wiped a tear rolling down my cheek and dragged my stuff out the door.
It took a while but I eventually got a cheap motel far from my Dad's house, the motel was pretty shabby but it was what I could afford. I settled in and tried to form a plan on how I'd explain to the family I worked for in Italy when I got back.
They'd dish out some other cruel punishment but it was better than been sold like a slave.
I tried calling Vivian a ton of times but it kept going to voicemail, and I didn't know any of her friends. Did she already know what Dad had done? It made sense of she just disappeared after that.
The more I thought about it the more I realized how it seemed like that Golden Lawyer and Vivian had history. The fact that he wanted her like it was some form if revenge, did she try screw him over too?
I put my head in my hands. What the fuck was going on? I just wanted to scream in frustration. I needed an explanation and the only person who could give it to me was suggesting a sell myself as collateral.
Why was my life always so messed up? What in the world did I do to even deserve it?
I curled up on the bed, my stomach hurt from hunger, I hadn't eaten anything since I got back. I forced myself out of bed and out to get something to eat.
"I'd been far away from all of it soon", I said to myself.
************************
Luckily time passed quite quickly, my dad kept calling me and sending texts to beg me to come back but I ignored his pleas, he was just scared he'd have to find another way to pay the debt he owed.
A small smile crept on my face as I got out of the taxi and walked into the airport. Just when I had thought I was screwed over, I had actually made it out fine.
My passport in one hand and my bag in another I happily walked through.
That was when I noticed something weird, I looked out the window and five SUVs pulled up and out came about fifteen guys in suits.
It was some Men in Black type shit and it made my skin crawl, what were those guys? FBI?. Did that mean there was a criminal in the airport. I shook the thought off and kept walking when I felt the urge to look back again.
I took on more glance and they had come through the door, it almost looked liked there were coming towards the checklist line which was where I was. I noticed one of them with his guys fixed on me.
His hand touched something in his ear and he said some words, eyes still locked on me.
Fuck, it's me. I'm the freaking criminal, aren't I?
My grip instinctively tightened around my bag and I hastened my steps, so did he. I took a turn and ta-da there was another guy in a suit coming towards me. I looked to my left and ahead and just as you'd expect there were guys coming from there too.
My body froze from fear, what the heck was happening?
The guy behind me had finally caught up and I gulped, were they from that lawyer? Or did my Dad owe someone else money as well? I wouldn't have been so surprised.
"You need to come with us, ma'am."
Ma'am? At least he was being polite. I looked at his colleagues, I was surrounded. I didn't have an option in this.
"Whatever you think I did, I didn't."
"Please you just need to come with us." He said firmly
"Who sent you? Was it my Dad? You can't just make me follow you without justification or some warrant." I looked around, we were in a public place, obviously they wouldn't do anything to me here, right?
But weirdly the airport guards were just looking at them, no one so much as moved a muscle to find out what was going on.
"Please, let's not make a scene, the boss is waiting." He opened the left side of his suit showing a gun.
Yep, I was definitely screwed. He took my bag and motioned to the door.
By then I was already surrounded by about six guys, I did what anyone would have done in my shoes. I shut my lips and obediently followed.
I still had my passport and my phone clutched in my hand. I bit my lips and prayer whoever this "boss" was wasn't some mafia boss, who else used gunned goons in suits in this time and age.
We got out and my eyes were instantly attracted to the back of the SUVs, they all had this golden sign on their license plates. Odd.
They led me to a limo at the end of the parked SUVs, a bit excessive don't you think?
Whoever this boss was, they obviously had money to throw around.
I looked at the license plate and my eyes widened, it was completely golden. Wait, Gold? The golden lawyer. Was it really Noah Gold, he wouldn't have been called the Golden Lawyer for nothing.
The guard who took my bag opened the limo door and asked me get in.
My legs refused to move, if I got in without knowing who it was I was signing my own death certificate.
"Get in." A slightly familiar voice came from inside the limo and I obliged.
I was right. I was greeted by Noah Gold's smug face, an arrogant grin playing in his lips.
"You?"
"Who else were you expecting?"
I legs were starting to tremble slightly from the memory of our last meeting. This was the last man I wanted to be in an enclosed space with.
"You're deal is with my father. I'm sorry for getting in between it in the first place. It's obvious it's my sister you want so just leave me alone."
"You still don't get it, do you?"
"Uh?"
"Yes, your sister was the initial agreement but now you're so are you. Think of it as a repercussion for your father trying to trick me."
"Exactly, my father tried to trick you, why not just sort it out with him?"
He chuckled,
"A moment ago, I thought you were so focused on protecting your family, now you want out?"
"You're enjoying this?" I didn't bother hiding the disgust in my tone. I hated him, he reviled me.
"Very much in fact." He moved over to me. Arrogance oozing from his eyes.
"How did you even find me?" I hadn't even told my Dad, was he stalking me.
"I fucking run this town, little lamb. You're not going anywhere. One little text and I could make you a criminal, a fugitive or just completely erase you." He meant it, I could see it from his eyes.
I moved back, I didn't like being close to him, which only made him laugh.
He snatched my phone and pass port out of my hand, I reached out to get them but it was too late.
"I'll be keeping these so you don't get anymore stupid ideas. You won't be needing them anyway." He said and tucked my phone into his jacket pocket and flipped through my passport.
"You don't travel much, do you?"
The only place I'd ever gone to was Italy and that was to escape my hellish life.
"No." I replied confused, what was this? An interview? This was the same man that had sexually assaulted me a few days ago.
"I'll take it you don't eat much either, you look like a twig." His eyes were still fixed on my passport.
Ouch, I felt a stab in my chest. Who the hell did he think he was?
"Anyways I have important business to attend to, my guys will take you back."
"Back? Where?"
"Oh, to my place. Which is where you'll be staying from now on. I'll say it again. Don't do anything stupid." He said and opened the door to leave."
"You can't do this?"
He stopped outside the car and bent his head to meet mine.
"Watch me, and if you do anything stupid I'll gut your father and then when I find your sister I'll make her wish she was dead. I'll see you when I'm done. I have a court case to attend to." He winked and shut the door.
I looked around in panic but the door locks came on. Shit.
