A/N: Bro I read previous chapters to get info, and whenever I see a grammar error or when the sentence doesn't flow properly, I die a little inside. But I'm too lazy to fix it so whatever.
Enjoy.
I also realized that History isnt a topic but I searched it up and it's sort of a part of social sciences so I'll just keep it that way.

HIkigaya Hachiman POV
The class was less hopeless than he had originally thought.
The lowest Total Score in the class was a 208.
The highest Total Score in the class was his own, a 496.
The class averaged in the 300-400 range, with a few people above and below.
He had sent his observations to Ichinose, and he was waiting for her response. He had notified both Shiina and Ichinose that he wouldn't be going to the Library, and both of them said that they weren't going either.
It was dinner time when he had finished compiling the class's pros and cons. The class had lower averages on Mathematics and English, and had higher scores on average for Social Sciences and Science.
But his plans for the study group was mostly dependent on the scope of the exam.
*Brrr*
He looked at his phone. Expectedly, it was from Ichinose.
Ichinose - [Hikigaya-kun, where did you get this info? I thought sensei said that she couldn't tell us?]
Hikigaya - [You remember when she said at the beginning of the school year that points could buy anything?]
Ichinose - [Realization sticker]
Ichinose - [So you bought it from sensei?]
Hikigaya - [Yep. You can even ask her tomorrow]
Ichinose - [For how much?]
Hikigaya - [100,000]
Ichinose - [100,000 Points!? From your own pocket?]
Hikigaya - [Who else's pocket could it come from?]
Hikigaya - [Eye rolling sticker]
Ichinose - [You should have asked me! I'll pay you back!]
Ichinose - [Insisting sticker]
Hikigaya - [No it's fine, It's for the class,]
Hikigaya - [Rejection sticker]
Ichinose - [Its precisely because it's for the class! I'm the class bank, remember?]
Hikigaya - [Oh. I forgot.]
Hikigaya - [Scratching head sticker]
Ichinose - [I'll pay half tomorrow!]
Hikigaya - [No it's fine, I want you to say that you bought it anyways. I'm basically using you, so I'll pay.]
Ichinose - […You won't compromise?]
Ichinose - [Sniffling sticker]
Hikigaya - [No.]
Ichinose - [Hmph sticker]
Ichinose - [Okay… Thanks for everything you do for the class!]
Ichinose -[Bowing sticker]
Hikigaya - [What's this for all of a sudden?]
Ichinose - [Since I thought I was the only one who knows how much effort you put in for our class, I thought I could thank you on behalf of the class!]
Hikigaya - [It's unnecessary]
Ichinose - [No it isn't! Stop downplaying yourself!]
Ichinose - [Lecturing sticker]
Hikigaya - [Yes ma'am.]
Hikigaya - [Saluting sticker]
Ichinose - [Still, thanks for the info!]
Ichinose - [Bowing sticker]
Hikigaya - [No problem. See you tomorrow.]
Ichinose - [See you tomorrow!]
Ichinose - [Waving sticker]
Hikigaya - [Waving sticker]
Recently their texts became way more closer. After Ichinose had complained that Hikigaya was too stale during one of their weekend lunch excursion, Hikigaya had promised to at least use stickers during conversations.
It was the first time such a phenomenon happened for Hikigaya. Hikigaya remembered back in Junior High a girl had given him her phone number, and when he texted her, he left it on read and called him creepy behind his back.
He stopped texting after that. But recently, something had changed from the norm.
'Am I in my popular phase?'
Hikigaya offhandedly wondered, before forcefully removing such a thought from his head.
Having nothing to do, and having already finished with the books he had checked out last friday, he decided to just sleep early.
—+—
Hikigaya had arrived early, but unusually, everyone was already in the classroom. There was still 30 minutes before homeroom would start.
But when he arrived, Ichinose started talking.
"Everyone, I have an announcement!"
That had gotten the attention of everyone in the room.
"I want to apologize in advance. I was too curious in knowing on how we would get the Class Points, so I paid 100,000 Points from the Class Bank to Hoshinomiya-sensei yesterday!"
But expectedly, no one in the class was mad, rather they sported appreciative and impressed expressions.
"Why would we be mad over that?"
Someone commented, with multiple people in agreement.
"I sent it in the Class B group chat, so everyone take the time to read over it!"
Everytime Ichinose did something on behalf of Hikigaya, thanked God for allowing him to have that encounter with Ichinose on the second day of school. The horror it would have been if he didn't.
After a minute, it looked like everyone had read the PDF.
They started discussing it by themselves with their respective neighbors.
Ichinose coughed into her hand to get the class's attention once more.
The class went silent in response, waiting for Ichinose to speak.
Hikigaya had to appreciate Ichinose's charisma.
"Now that we know that the Midterms are centered around Improvement, during our study session today, it would be better to prioritize our weaknesses, don't you guys agree?"
The class nodded in agreement.
"I also asked Hoshinomiya-sensei about the exam scope and she said that she'll reveal it today during homeroom, so we can discuss general topics of importance before the study group, any objections?"
Silence.
"Okay! Thank's for agreeing to come to class a little earlier by the way!"
'So that was the reason that everyone was already there before I arrived.'
Hikigaya thought, watching as Ichinose gave Hikigaya a glance before sitting down in her seat.
Hikigaya gave her small speech a 10/10. She said the key points, and got the approval of the rest of the class on top of that.
He had chosen an S tier Proxy.
Hoshinomiya entered the room, with another rolled up poster.
"Good morning everyone!"
"Good morning!"
The class responded.
"So here's the scope,"
Hoshinomiya said, unrolling the scope and pasting it on the whiteboard.
"You can take out your phones to take a picture if you want, you won't lose points,"
With her approval, a majority of the students took a picture, Hikigaya included.
"That's all for Homeroom, you guys have 30 minutes to discuss amongst yourselves before classes start."
With that statement she left.
The students crowded around Ichinose, waiting for her instructions.
This time, Hikigaya also joined the crowd.
"Okay, so let's have the three higher scoring students be the tutors for the study session. So that'll be Me, Kanzaki-kun, and Hikigaya-kun. Any objections?"
A few students shook their heads.
"Me personally, I'm not particulary good at Literature and Social Science, so you'll have to ask Hikigaya-kun and Kanzaki for that,"
"Math and Science aren't my stronger subjects, so ask Hikigaya or Ichinose for that,"
Kanzaki interjected, glancing at Hikigaya.
"Wait, Math and Science aren't my strong suits either…"
Hikigaya tried to say, but his voice became quieter when getting the looks of confusion.
Hikigaya understood why, as he was the highest scorer for all 5 subjects, but he was telling the truth!
"…Nevermind."
Hikigaya relented, glancing at Ichinose's expression, as if she found the entire situation humorous.
'Traitor!'
Murmured Hikigaya in his mind.
Ichinose clapped her hands to get the class's attention.
"So, ask me for Math and Science, Kanzaki-kun for Literature and Social Sciences, and Hikigaya for everything!"
'Doesn't this woman just want to give me more work?'
For a man whose belief was to work less and earn more, he couldn't help but think that he was at a disadvantage here. He could only trust that people would refrain from asking questions because in his class, he was the resident loner.
"Roger!"
The class exclaimed in agreement.
"We'll go to the Library as a class when class ends, if you can't make it, text me!"
It looked like no one was going to miss it on purpose.
Ichinose was truly the glue of Class B. Hikigaya thought. He wasn't even exaggerating. The class had unwaivering trust in Ichinose, and Hikigaya didn't really mind.
It made her as a proxy that much more valuable. Not that he didn't appreciate their relationship. Ichinose was a good friend.
It was just that her value as a proxy was too high to be ignored.
Thankfully, it looked like she didn't mind.
—+—
When class ended, Hikigaya reluctantly made his way to the Library, trailing a few meters behind the rest of the class.
'This was probably why there were so many seats in the Library.'
Hikigaya offhandedly thought, remembering when he had first observed the library on the second day of school.
Arriving at the Library, they got into their own groups, and Kanzaki, Ichinose, and Hikigaya sat separately in their own group.
It seemed like the system was that the students would study the scope in small groups, and if they had any questions they would ask the 3 smartest students in the class, either by calling them over or walking up to them.
It was relatively efficient.
The study group also only lasted until 5:30, so around 2 and a half hours after class ended.
It was less taxing than Hikigaya had imagined.
They had around 6 weeks until the midterms, so there would be a total of 12 study sessions when they did it twice a week.
A month and a half of this wasn't that bad.
Also, another reason that Kanzaki and Ichinose sat together with Hikigaya was so that they could maintain their Total Scores when the midterms arrived. This was because they both had subjects that they were weak at, while Hikigaya could be considered the most well rounded.
He had a Total Score of 496 after all.
Even if he believed that he was weak at math, the college level questions probably wouldn't be on the actual midterm, or else the school was a scam.
"Hikigaya, how do you solve this?"
Kanzaki asked, showing him his notebook.
It was a factoring question.
Thankfully, Hikigaya had relatively high level knowledge of the scope of the midterm, and only needed to review his notes occasionally using spaced repetition, a memorization method he used during winter break when he was studying for the entrance exam.
"Oh if you can't factor a polynomial normally, you have to use the quadratic equation. You know how it works right?"
"Not really,"
"Since in the scope we only go up to an a + b + c polynomial, we can use the quadatic formula like this,"
Hikigaya classified the different x's into a,b, and c, before putting it into the formula.
"The quadratic formula works for every polynomial with 3 different values, but it takes the longest. You should only use it when you can't factor it using different tricks or to verify your answer."
Hikigaya clarified, as he plugged in the numbers into the quadratic formula.
"By the way, if b squared minus 4ac is negative, because imaginary numbers isn't a part of the scope, you can just put Not a Real Number as the answer."
Hikigaya explained, before solving it and explaining it to Kanzaki step by step, before handing his notebook back.
"You're surprisingly good at teaching, Hikigaya,"
Kanzaki complimented, looking down at the easy to follow explanation that Hikigaya had wrote in his notebook.
'What's that supposed to mean?'
Hikigaya thought in his head.
"That's rude,"
Ichinose chided, prompting a quick apology from Kanzaki.
"Sorry, that was rude of me,"
Hikigaya casually waved it off.
"Nah it's fine."
A few minutes passed, with a few students walking up to Ichinose and Kanzaki for assistance.
"Hey Hikigaya-kun, how do you memorize historical events, I can't keep them in my head properly,"
Ichinose whined, looking at her history textbook with a resigned expression.
In the Social Sciences portion of the exam, the scope was mostly historical events and locations.
"If it's just dates and names, you can probably use mnemonics or the Feynman method,"
Hikigaya remembered back when he had studied for the entrance exam and he had a similar problem, but for science. He had searched up study methods and religiously followed them while he studied.
While he didn't want to attend, when his parents signed him up, it would be a waste not to study for a school that had free tuition.
"Mnemonics? Feynman Method?"
Ichinose looked confused at the unfamilar terms.
"For dates and locations, Mnemonics are the best, you basically just use a word, phrase, or a sentence to remember short pieces of information. Like how the Battle of Sekigahara, it's at the 21st of October, 1600. You can say something like it's 10 days before Halloween to remember the date, and for the year do something similar,"
Hikigaya explained to Ichinose.
"Oh, that makes sense."
"Yeah, for dates, you can compare them to important dates in your life to remember them better,"
"That's pretty interesting! Thanks. Wait, what about the Feynman Method?"
"That's for memorizing concepts. Its how you can memorize topics by explaining it to someone. For example if you don't know how photosynthesis works, you can memorize it easier by trying to explain it to someone."
Hikigaya explained once more.
"Thanks for the advice, For a good teacher, I don't know why no one's asking you anything,"
Ichinose offhandedly commented, getting the attention of Kanzaki, who nodded in agreement.
"I agree, your explanations are easy to understand and to the point. It's a shame that no one else in the class is comfortable enough to ask you any questions."
"I don't really mind,"
Hikigaya offhandedly commented.
"No, it's really a shame,"
Ichinose said once more, nodding as if she was preaching facts.
"Just go back to studying."
Kanzaki noticed the lack of study materials on Hikigaya's side, eyebrows raised.
"Are you not going to study, Hikigaya?"
"Oh, nah. I already know the stuff in the exam scope so I'm going to look over my notes like once a day until the exam."
Kanzaki sported an impressed expression, before nodding, accepting Hikigaya's reasoning.
Hikigaya looked around the Library, seeing multiple different study groups from different classes.
Class A had everyone show up, while Class C and Class D had a few people absent, but Hikigaya expected it from how their classes worked.
It looked like Class A was taking the approach where the smarter students reviewed over the exam scope instead of passively waiting for questions.
Hikigaya admitted that while it was a more active approach, it was more disadvantageous for people who had specific weaknesses in subjects.
Thankfully, Class B's study session ended and no one had asked him any questions other than Kanzaki and Ichinose.
This he was inwardly grateful for. Ichinose was his friend and Hikigaya could work with Kanzaki's straightforward and blunt personality.

A/N:I changed the formatting for the texts and it will stay that way from now on. You know, I was searching up high school topics and it took me down memory lane even though it was only like 3 years ago.
Like the quadratic formula? Who even willingly uses that?
The study techniques are actual studying techniques that I know of. Personally I use spaced repetition and practice problem more than the other two i mentioned. But I thought it was on brand of Hikigaya to use mnemonics and the feynman method, because I think they are more suited to his weakness of science and mnemonics to remember mathematical formulas.
He also uses spaced repetition when he looks over his notes, if you haven't realized already. I know this chapter was a little unnecessary, but nothing wrong with filler with useful study methods.
Also, I am on a roll with writing these chapters, Like I wrote this right after I finished Chapter 7. can't stop the A-train.
Thanks for reading.
