Ochaco Uraraka was happily eating mochi when a translucent pink screen appeared before her. Though she was startled by its sudden appearance, her mouth full of gooey sweetness prevented her from making a sound.
Seeing her daughter's strange action, Ochaco's mother asked her, "Ochaco? Are you okay?"
Ochaco looked to her mother. Seeing her looking at her in concern and show seemingly no reaction to the screen, Ochaco thought her mother might not see it. Swallowing her mochi, she said nervously, "I just thought I saw somethin' jump out at me."
"Well, I didn't see anythin'," Mrs. Uraraka replied.
"Guess I was jus' seein' things."
Letting the conversation end there, Ochaco looked back to the screen. On it, she read:
The Heroine Guild (IVT) is now online.

There is no punishment for refusal.
Do you accept registration: [YES] [NO]
2:13…2:12…2:11…2:10…
Ochaco was not sure what to make of what she was seeing. It sounded insane and she wondered if she was under the influence of some strange Quirk. However, the mention of special rewards caught her eye. Her parents' construction company had not been getting much work lately and they were cutting down on expenses at home. She wondered if this could help relieve the burden.
Looking at the timer ticking down, she felt pressured to make a decision. As it neared zero, she decided to go for it and hit [Yes]. As soon as she did the screen changed.
Congratulations! You and 34 others are now registered to the Heroine Guild (IVT).
Designated target of IVT - inner-voice transmission - will begin broadcasting momentarily. Be aware, target is unaware of themselves being subject to IVT. Guild members cannot do anything that would reveal existence of guild, membership, or IVT status to the target.
Transmissions will begin…now.
"What the hell!!?"
Ochaco as well as all the other guild members were startled. They were not sure what to expect but it wasn't a young boy's voice yelling in their head.
It was several moments before they heard the voice again.
"Okay, got through that. Now back to my original question. What the hell is going on!? Okay, okay, let's think about this. I was lying down relaxing before I had to go to work. Got a little drowsy. Annoying but not unusual. I shake my head to brush it off, and I suddenly find myself sitting on a couch as someone else. Yeah, I guess that's perfectly normal. As if!!"
Those who could hear this voice questioned what exactly they were hearing. Besides their confusion, some were concerned for whoever this was while others chuckled at what they assumed was some sort of comedy skit.
"Okay, this is too real to be a dream. So, let's think. I've somehow found myself in the body of Izuku. From Inko's reaction when I said I was analyzing Quirks, I'm guessing he's Quirkless - as per usual."
At mention of being Quirkless, several guild members were confused as to why they were hearing the voice of some Quirkless boy. However, some were concerned - knowing the statistics. A few though were disinterested at the information.
"Okay, I'm in MHA. I'm Izuku. What do I do next? Guess first thing I need to do is confirm how bad Izuku's life is. There's no guarantee it'll be one-to-one with what I know. Guess there's an easy way to find out."
This caused a wave of concern among the guild members. While some were still disinterested or questioning how real all this was, others shuffled uncomfortably. For those who knew the statistics on Quirkless, it felt like someone was in for a rude awakening. For those who did not and were just concerned, their worry was born from how matter-of-fact the voice was speaking about this 'Izuku' having a bad life.
When the voice was heard again, it began with a pained hiss. "Yeah, I'm no expert on burns or scars, but that can't be good. Some look fresh…feel fresh too. Okay, so by default I am not in the world of MHA I know. From the looks of it, I'm guessing for whatever reason the Katsuki here seems to use Izuku as a punching bag for his Quirk. That does not bode well for me. It could be isolated, but odds aren't good. Inko seemed more pitying than I would expect; at the very least I can probably count on Aldera being a problem."
The members of the guild were a collection of individuals. While those younger like Ochaco were in no position to do anything and only have their concern grow, others were a different matter. Though some may not have had the best of intentions, several in positions of authority began jotting down information to check on. 'Izuku', 'Inko', 'MHA', 'Katsuki', and 'Aldera'.
"That's another thing I should figure out. No matter how different this world is from the MHA I know, odds are the staples of canon still hold true like in most stories. I need to figure out where in the timeline I'm at. I look like I'm a teenager and I'm a string bean. So, it's either before the story begins or toward the beginning. Given my body doesn't feel like someone who's just started a hardcore workout routine, I'm gonna guess the former."
This further confused guild members. Though it went over a few heads, it sounded to the majority like the voice was talking about some anime or something. Most found this ridiculous and became even more skeptical on the validity behind what they were hearing. However, a few felt excited. A minority considered the idea of their world as some sort of show, but overall, they felt curious. If nothing else, this voice suggested there was some sort of story to happen.
"If this is before Izuku meets All Might and becomes his successor, I should be able to check online. If the Sludge Villain Incident hasn't happened yet, then I'm good. However, it leaves two important questions. How much time do I have? And, how am I going to reenact the event to make sure I become All Might's successor? No, you know what, make it three questions. Add, 'whether or not I want to follow canon or not?'. I have no shame in admitting I have a mild obsession with this world and its story, but living through it - as the main character no less - is a whole other thing. I don't know if I have it in me. I'm not as naturally heroic or self-sacrificing as Izuku."
Now those in the guild were in shock. Just what was this voice saying? That this Izuku boy - or rather them - was going to become All Might's successor? Some Quirkless child as the successor to the Number One Hero and Symbol of Peace? It was unbelievable.
None of them had heard of any Sludge Villain Incident and several made note of it. If such an event really happened, then it was possible to gain some more information about this IVT situation. Also, the idea of All Might's successor was too great to ignore. The last few words of the voice cooled any enthusiasm for this, however.
Some - particularly those who enjoyed the idea of their world possibly being some sort of fictional story - were confused as to why the voice would reject such a position to be the main character. Even if it was just crazy, you would still get to be All Might's successor. Others, though, could agree. They had various ways of looking at it, but ultimately, they would also not want to be the main character of their beloved anime, book, romance novel, etc. It might sound fun but main characters sometimes literally have the world resting on their shoulders. This would be even worse if you do not have the same personality as the main character themselves and thus may not be able to accomplish the same feats as them.
"As for the issue of the timeline…I hope I'm somewhere into Izuku's second year of middle school. My life might be hell, but…Maybe I can change Himiko's fate. Sure, she may have been a stab happy, blood obsessed, yandere serial killer, but she was my favorite character. She's a year older than Izuku. So, his second year would be her third year which is when it happens. If I can meet her, maybe I can help prevent her from finally snapping from all these years of Quirk suppression she's endured…Heh, who am I kidding? How would I even find her? I can search online for the incident where she attacked her classmate, but that means it's already happened. That can at least tell me when I am and how long until canon starts. Maybe I could try finding her, but a scared girl on the run isn't going to just randomly get found by me…"
Those listening were caught off guard by these words with several unsure of how to react. At first, they questioned the voice's sanity. From his description, this 'Himiko' was clearly a villain. However, mention of her apparent age and Quirk suppression turned that thinking around. Save a few making note to look into it, none were sure what to think. Most of all was the named girl herself.
Just a few short months ago, Himiko Toga had attacked her classmate after she was no longer able to suppress her desire for blood. Hearing this voice claim they knew her, knew her past, and wanted to help her…
"The Himiko issue can wait. Either it's already happened and I'm too late, or I have until the end of the school year to work something out. First, I need to think of my future and this whole 'being Izuku' thing. The important thing to consider is 'what will happen if I don't do it'…I don't know how things will change past a certain point but…The U.A. Entrance Exam and the USJ…I don't have enough faith in that school that Ochaco wouldn't have gotten crushed if Izuku didn't intervene. And Tsuyu and Minoru…maybe they'd be fine. Honestly half the danger they were in was because of Izuku. But…"
This bit of information shocked and alarmed those listening. From the sound of it, the number one hero school in the country - U.A. - was going to act as the setting of whatever story this voice thought was going to happen. Those involved or aspiring to attend the school wished the voice would provide more information.
Most stunned by this was the named girls Ochaco and Tsuyu Asui. Though news of there being danger for them had caused concern among guild members, the two themselves were the most concerned. Their wishing to know more, however, was mixed with other emotions. For one thing, it brought excitement due to it suggesting they would be at and possibly pass the entrance exam to get into U.A. Another was that this voice seemed to want to keep them safe and feeling touched.
"I mean…there's no real harm in going for it right? I've been given a second chance at life. I obviously can't just go to people and say I know the future; they'll think I'm crazy. Plus, maybe I can use my knowledge so things won't be as bad. Assuming that whatever caused this won't throw any curveballs at me. All I have to do is wait for the first day of my third year in middle school, get attacked by the Sludge Villain, almost suffocated to death, get saved by All Might, and convince him to make me his successor…easy. Maybe if I say I know about his injury I can get his attention."
Guild members started to wonder when this voice would stop confusing and shocking them. All Might had an injury? It sounded impossible. Some ignored that information and jokingly wished luck to 'Izuku' on such a impossible task and others were concerned about mention of him being 'almost being suffocated to death'.
One guild member, however, narrowed her eyes at the information of All Might's injury. If true, then that would make quite the headline.
An exhausted sigh was heard as the voice resumed. "Hey, god, or godly force, or whatever is responsible for this. I don't suppose I'm going to get a system or something to make all this easier, am I?"
Suddenly, all guild members heard a loud chime as a screen appeared before them.
Attention! IVT target has made a request of the Heroine Guild. By majority vote, determine whether to provide target with 'something to make all this easier'.
