“I’ll be quiet when you need to sleep, and I promise I won’t get pissed if you wake me in the middle of the night,” he said earnestly, undeterred by my silence. Then his eyes turned pleading. “Besides, you’ll be helping me out. I can’t afford to live on my own unless I get a crappy studio. In the bad part of town. I needout of my parents’ house. And you need someone to take up a little space.”

Seriously? That was his argument? If he thought that little speech was going to change my mind, he didn’t know me half as well as I thought he did.
