章節 5: Chapter 5: Conspiracies

Lotus City Nang Clan's main hall. There was a large procession of people, all the elders of the Clan were there, many of them had a look of trouble on their face, whilst others had sweat upon their brows. If someone were to walk in, they could see that that at the top of the hall sat a man and two women. This was naturally the Matriarch and the two grand elders of the Clan.

As several of them were in heated discussion, the old lady had a staunch look on her face. The look was one of confusion and a little desperation. In recent months there had been several discussions all like this that ended without confirmation of a plan, and that plan, of course, was how to handle the situation of this so-called game-changing martial spirit, that had awoken by some boy, which had shaken Lotus City so.

There were three ruling families in Lotus City, excluding the city Lord of course. They were the Kewang, Nang, and Zhou Clans. The Lord of Lotus City was, of course, a member of the illustrious Ren Clan. Usually, things in the city were quite harmonious, and there wasn't much trouble, as the clans lived on opposite sides of the city, with the Ren Clan being at the centre, to keep the piece.

The frown that crowned the Matriarch had been there for over a month now, and there were worries of a large power shift in the city, considering how things were looking, things might just end up going sideways.

The Nang and Zhou Clans weren't ever that strong, and only had two experts at the sea realm each, whereas the Kewang had seven. The Ren Clan was deep and ancient, and rumour has it that they have a Nascent Realm, which could easily level the city. The scary thing is that people extend their lifespans once their realm increases and people at the Nascent Realm could live for hundreds of years, as the average lifespan for mortals was only around forty. This meant Clans with high cultivation, and suddenly disappearing can be very suspicious. When this happens, it is best not to act rashly, as many sleeping dragons lie in the world.

As people kept muttering and arguing unruly on what to do the Matriarch was finally at the end of her wits. "Enough of this!" As her cold words resounded throughout the room, it became eerily cold.

"Seeing as nobody has any worthwhile ideas, in this so-called great ancient Clan, I've finally come up with a solution." The Woman announced with the elegance and pride of a Silver Swann.

Everyone in the room looked up to the room with gleaming eyes, and whispering could be heard in the crowd. 'That's our Matriarch, she always has a solution'.

'Surely the Matriarch's solution will be wiser than any of ours!' another one whispered.

"It's very simple. There's one surefire way to turn this all into our favour, that is why I'm going to need everyone in this room, to either say an oath, by the heavens, to not say anything or leave the room now." As the words left her mouth the whole room went silent.

'Swear an oath by the heavens'. A few people gulped down. If one were to break an oath of that magnitude, they would suffer a heavenly tribulation! A few of the older ones in the hall started to sweat as they have encountered this famous retribution before, and how it can instantly disintegrate Sea Realm experts!

The old woman chuckled seeing the crowd, panicking, yet no one was leaving "good, nobody will leak the information I'm about to divulge".

The matriarch stood up straight, raised her head to the heavens, "Do those, in this room vow to never repeat what they have heard and will hear in this room today, and if they do so, they will be punished, by heavenly tribulation." As she ended the speech there wasn't any gap, all that could be heard was a resounding, "AYE", shout out. After which the thunder could be heard overhead, signifying the oaths which had been taken, and witnessed by the heavens.

"Good. So, I will divulge, the course of action the Clan will take." The Matriarch chuckled with the deviousness this plan was going to need, if they were to successfully pull it off, "I believe that it is time to break the unspoken rules of Lotus City…"
