As they were almost done with their food.
Fiona spoke up, "Thank you for saving me, I know I will regain my memories, so I will like it if we keep the police out of it, besides I was badly beaten, I don't know whether someone was trying to kill me or..."
"That's why the police are supposed to be involved" Samuel interrupted.
"I don't know how I escaped death, what I know is that I don't want the police to be involved for now please, I know I will regain my memories, I know it," Her voice was breaking out.
"TGDs last for 24 hours, it is already past the time, Fiona, Let us help you fast, your amnesia may be more than temporary.."
"No! it isn't!" Fiona cried out.
Grandma who has been listening to them cleared her throat as a signal for them to stop talking.
"Too much anger in this room, Samuel, l think we should respect her decision about not involving the police, And Fiona you can stay with us as long as you can regain your memories, even after that, well I will off to Mrs. Tess's house," She stated, standing up.
"Take your medicine dear, and don't listen to Samuel, he is too formal with ladies" she added grinning.
"Grandma!!" Samuel raised his eyebrows.
"I will be going now," Mrs. Tan said laughing softly.
Fiona thanked her stars for the completion of her second plan.
After Grandma left for her room, Samuel stood up, gathering the plate from the table, He said, I'll go get you a phone, is there anything you need?"
"I am sorry for shouting, really I am sorry, and I am grateful for the help, I promise I won't be of any bother to you guys, I will get back my memories fast," She pleaded.
"Don't worry, it's nothing, it isn't the first time, we have taken care of strangers, tomorrow, we will drop by a cloth store and get you some clothes, Grandma has kept a gown for you. Please rest," After saying this, Samuel left for the kitchen.
When he left, Fiona looked around the house.
It was a small house but had a serenity, quiet, and comfortable vibe and feeling, one that she has always longed for all her life but never got the chance to experience.
She looked through the window and saw a black SUV along the road, She noticed it in the morning when they were entering the house, She used the curtain to block half of the window and peeped through it then she saw someone getting out of the car.
"Roger!" she exclaimed with her face going bleak.
"How did they find me so quick!" she panicked and ran to her room, she came to the parlor again and peeping through the window, she didn't see the car or Roger again.
"What are you looking at?" Samuel asked as he walked out of the kitchen because he heard noises.
"What! No, no nothi nothing," She stammered, startled by him.
"Why are you sweating?" He asked again as he approached her.
She wasn't aware that she was sweating profusely.
"Oh it's nothing, I normally sweat a lot," She lied.
"I am going out to get you a cellphone, your medicine is on the table," Samuel said as he carried his truck keys and left the house.
"Was it my imagination? I clearly saw him," She thought as she sat on the couch in the living room, "Should I run away, but to where?"
She kept thinking till she fell asleep on the couch.
Samuel came back in the evening, as he opened the door and walked inside, he already guessed that she will be sleeping seeing that she didn't hear him knock. He was greeted by the peaceful sight of her sleeping on the couch.
"Hope she has eaten?" He asked himself.
"I didn't even tell her that porridge is inside the refrigerator," He remembered, then quickly went into the kitchen to prepare what they will eat.
"Hey, wake up," He tapped her gently when he was done cooking and served the food at the dining table.
"What time is it?"Fiona asked as she stretched her hands.
"Time to eat, Get up," Samuel answered going to the dining room.
"Where is your grandma?" She asked as they were eating.
"She's staying over at her friend's place, she does that most times, don't bother yourself," He replied mindlessly focusing on his phone.
Fiona nodded and continued eating.
"Ah, yes, here is your new phone, it has one of my old sims inside," He passed her the phone.
"Thank you," She was so happy but tried to not show it and that was if Samuel would notice because he didn't even look at her while passing the phone.
"Yeah," Samuel answered.
After they were done eating, Fiona stood up to take the plates to the kitchen but Samuel was already doing so.
"You should rest, and watch TV, there is an interesting series that is going on, you should watch it," Samuel recommended.
She nodded and went to the living room and turned on the television.
When Samuel was done with the dishes, he came to the living room and sat with her.
"So what do you do?" Fiona thought starting a conversation with him will make it more comfortable instead of him asking her questions.
"We own a local restaurant and I am a part-time music high school teacher, "He quickly answered as if he was waiting for the question.
"You love music?"
"Teaching music doesn't mean you love it,"
Fiona nodded, "I guess you are right,"
"How come you recalled only your name," Samuel asked, he was surprised that she remembered her name but forgot everything.
"Mhmm well, it just came to me" Fiona mumbled.
"Don't worry, you will be fine, you are strong," Samuel remarked.
"And why will you say so?" She asked surprised by the statement. It was the first time she had heard such remarks about herself.
"Well..."
A knock came on the door and Samuel's countenance changed.
"Grandma doesn't come back home at this hour or did she forget something?" He questioned himself aloud.
Fiona's countenance also changed after hearing what Samuel said.
"Roger?" The thought of him made her panic.
"Wait she doesn't come back to the house at this time?" Fiona asked.
"Samuel don't," She whispered as she saw him going for the door.
As Samuel opened the door, there was nobody at the door, he went outside and looked around, while Fiona shut down her eyes and murmured different prayers.
"Well, it seems the children in the neighborhood are toying with us, and why are you afraid, I thought you were brave and strong but seems I was wrong, you are afraid," He said laughing.
"I wasn't afraid, I was being cautious," Fiona defended.
"As I was saying," He sat back on the couch," I said you are strong because of the way you knocked me out on the night I found you, you were literally dying, but you had that strength. It was very surprising," Samuel explained.
"I did?" Fiona asked with her eyes popping out in surprise.
"Very much yes," Samuel replied.
Of course, Fiona recalled, what made her kick Samuel was because when she opened her eyes, she thought she saw Samson, her boss.
"I see you don't want to watch the series, I guess you need rest," Samuel said on noticing her dozing off.
"Can I sleep with you?" She inquired as she woke up.
Samuel's eyes widened in surprise.
"Don't get me wrong, I mean I'll sleep on the couch in your room while you sleep in your bed, I promise I won't bother you, I sleep quietly?" With pleading eyes, she said.
"Ok," Samuel managed to say that he was still stunned by what she had requested.
Fiona wanted to sleep near Samuel because she suspected Roger was lurking around the house. She wasn't afraid for herself, but for Samuel, so she decided to keep an eye out for him.
He entered the room, turned on the light, and said, "I'll sleep on the couch, you need to sleep on a comfortable bed."
"I apologize for bothering you; the problem is that I don't sleep alone," she explained.
"It's not a big deal; I understand," He put another bedsheet on the bed and a blanket on top because it was cold.
"Thank you," she said as she sat down on the bed.
"Oh, it's soft," she remarked, making Samuel laugh.
"Don't mind me," Fiona said, slightly embarrassed.
But Samuel didn't respond and pretended to go to sleep to make the situation appear less awkward.
Fiona tried to stay away to keep watch, but nature and the softness of the bed didn't help her. The only person who had no luxury of sleeping was Samuel as he kept turning on the couch.
He was taken aback when she mentioned them sleeping together, and his heart skipped a beat.
"What was I thinking?" He questioned himself about his reactions towards this stranger he had saved two days.
"Sleep Samuel," He mumbled as he placed a pillow on his face. He then heard her scream.
"Let's me go, I don't like it here!". He approached her and sat on the bed. "She's probably having a nightmare," he reasoned.
"Wake up, Fiona," He gently touched her, tapped again as she screamed, and she sat up and embraced him.
