CHAPTER 7
Serene
I have not heard from Diego in two weeks. I have been doing everything I can to recover, and now it is time for me to go to a faraway land, away from Diego and all the suffering he has caused me. It is now time to start afresh, this time without making any compromises for anyone. Charlotte and Neina are welcome to visit me in London at any moment. I can not understand why they are so unhappy. Charlotte and Neina placed my things in the boot and moved towards me; we hugged before jumping into the car and driving to the airport.
"Do not forget to inform us when you land," Neina said lovingly.
"I won't promise," I responded with a smile at them.
"If you forget, we will catch the next flight there," Charlotte said, and we all laughed.
The vehicle came to a stop, and we hopped out. I grabbed my luggage and we headed inside the airport, and I started to feel sad and melancholy. I paused and glanced at both of them; Charlotte saw and hurriedly muttered, "Serene, calm down." I gathered myself together and we went to the check-in office, stood in line, and before we knew it, I handed over my ticket and passport to an airline staffer. She processed my information and took my stuff away. We quickly went to the security checkpoint, and the guard allowed me to pass. I hugged Charlotte and Neina for the final time. I was ready to proceed to the departure gates when I heard someone say Diego's name.
"It is an honor to have you here, Diego Myers," the individual remarked.
"Oh, that is correct," Diego responded, chuckling.
"And she should be Mrs. Myers, I suppose," added the individual, clearly referring to Nelly.
"Yes, she is my fiancé," Diego responded, and I instantly turned to see who it was as my gaze fell on Nelly. I looked away from them so they would not recognize me. I was ready to become emotional when Neina advised me to take a deep breath.
"Mr. Myers, you truly love your fiancé so much; it is really unusual for couples to go on vacation while still engaged," the individual said Diego.
"She is my queen and she deserves anything she wants, right honey?" he said to Nelly.
"Yes, that is correct," Nelly replied, making my heart race at the sound of her voice. I could not believe he was taking her on a vacation while they were still engaged, especially since we had never had one in the years I had been married to him.
I wish I had not overheard that exchange, but I did, and it just made me want to leave and start all over again.
When Diego and Nelly proceeded to board their plane, I turned back and took a long breath. Before Neina could say anything, my phone buzzed, and we all glanced to see who was calling and saw Doctor Nelson's name on the screen. I questioned why he was phoning, especially considering what transpired after he revealed my baby's death.
"Take it," Charlotte said, while Neina simply nodded.
"Good day, Mrs. Myers. This is Doctor Chris Nelson," the doctor stated on the other end of the phone as I answered. I assume he did not know we were divorced, therefore he called me on Diego's surname.
"Hello, Doctor, is everything all right?" I inquired, sensing anxiety in his tone.
"Yes, Mrs. Myers, everything is fine; is your husband with you?" He inquired, his voice still filled with concern.
"No, but why? Is everything really okay, Doctor?" I inquired while Charlotte and Neina drew their ears close to see what the doctor may say next.
"Yes, I would want the two of you to come to my office today if possible," he said.
"What? That is impossible; we are really busy right now. If it is urgent, please let me know, and I will—" The doctor abruptly interrupted me and stated, "Your baby is alive, Mrs. Myers."
"What!" I reacted with shock.
"Yes, Mrs. Myers. I just received your second findings from the test we performed, and they show that your child's heart is still beating; we apologize for providing you with incorrect results, and we hope to see you within the next 24 hours," the doctor added before hanging up the phone.
My eyes were filled with tears, and I instantly placed my hand on my tummy, feeling a vibration. I looked at Charlotte and Neina, who were also happy with tears of delight in their eyes. We hugged, and I could not keep from crying. The grief I had about losing my kid has finally been replaced with pleasure.
"Now, will you tell Diego?" Neina asked and I turned pale since I could not react to that question, they understood and hugged me again.
"You are going to be a mother," they both remarked, and I thanked them sincerely. It was time for my aircraft to go, so I dashed to the departure gates and waved to Charlotte and Neina.
[In London]
I awoke the next day feeling really dizzy. I raced to the lavatory to throw out and paused at the mirror to examine my face. I could see how radiant and adorable I looked. I glanced at myself again, holding my tummy. "I am enough for you; I will be your mother and father; I will give you all the love you need and ensure you find genuine love," I whispered to my baby.
A tear fell from my eyes, and I brushed it away. I grinned and swiftly proceeded to answer Charlotte and Neina's phone calls.
"Did you forget to inform us you landed?"
"No, ladies, my phone has gone off," I said with a smile.
"OK, I have developed a list of names for the child, such as—" I cut Charlotte off before she could say anything because I knew she would not finish.
"What, is that not too early?"
"I thought so too, but she would not listen," Neina added.
We all chuckled, and I concluded the conversation to prepare for my first day of work.
Hi I hope you're loving my baby so far, if you are please show your support and vote. Leave comments and likes
